A: The beer is a dark, but still clear enough to see a light shine through it. A two-finger thick creamy head sits on top.
S: Sweet malt notes are present in the smell with fruit lingering as well.
T: Light spices with some clove in the taste. Some malt taste emerges after some time.
M: Medium to almost light, particularly for a beer of this darker appearance.
D: The large glass and high ABV might discourage several orders, but the taste and texture will not.

Served in a Weizen glass.
A: Deep chocolate brown, with a lot of clarity for a weizenbock. A thick cream cap has nice retention and leaves nice lace.
S: Very sweet, with a fair amount of chocolate liqueur out front. Slightly vinous. Has a touch of clove, but none of the banana I expect from this style.
T: The chocolate liqueur theme continues. Quite sweet initially. Bitterness is mild and has a clove and pepper kick. Finishes with lingering chocolate and pepper flavors. Alcohol adds a light warmth.
M: The medium-light body has very soft, yet weak carbonation.
D: This is basically a doppelbock brewed with wheat. The menu indicated that they use a lager yeast for this, and it shows via the lack of traditional weizenbock aromas. I liked the beer, but it doesn't fit the style, so I'll have to split the difference here.

The DDWB poured a dark brown with red highlights. It had a huge creamy off-white head that had nice retention and lacing. It's aroma was of crisp, piney hops with some citrus. It had a very unique taste that I found hard to describe. It was a piney malt up front with a crisp, lightly hopped finish. It was a full and creamy beer that was very drinkable.
