from the cask this pale ale poured a very dense copper color with a mellow off white head about an inch tall. the nose is very fresh. its woody and smells like a christmas tree. lots of sap and essential hops, but the flavor doesnt carry that though from the smell. its more balanced in taste, with an english malt profile tempering what i thought would be pretty aggresive piney hops. the beer only gets bitter at the end, and is pretty low key overall. the mouthfeel works well from the cask, light mild carbonation under a pretty thick body for an american pale. its smooth going down and plenty strong. i reckon this is a really nice fall beer, worthy of a big slab of red meat.

A: Mostly clear with a little but of cloud in the pour. Thick, white head gives way to some lacing.
S: Light hop in the nose. Notes of citrus and a little bit of sourness present. Mostly smells of pleasant bitterness
T: Hops at the forefront, but not too strong. Balanced by a good amount of malt flavor. There's a sense of grapefruit and pine, especially in the lingering aftertaste.
M: Pretty crisp at first, more medium-bodied and thicker on the swallow. Plenty of carbonation here.
A solid example of a PA/IPA. Not too heavy and a pleasant enough taste, that may be a little lighter than expected, but still very good.
