It's doubly ridunkelous!
Double Dunk weizenbock is back- this special release is the big brother of Ridunkelous. 8.2%, full-bodied with pronounced hefeweizen flavours (banana, clove) and a caramel-malt backbone.
You may end up thanking your local German for inventing the style. It's that good.

Bottle picked up at the brewery by Kat. Thanks! Served in a Cantillon tulip.
A - Dirty off-white foam settles to a cap, thick collar, and splotches of lace. Unfiltered dark brown body.
S - Chocolate, roast, nuts, spicy yeast, wheat, perhaps a hint of alcohol. Pretty nice, and more in line with what I was expecting from Ridunkelous.
T - Taste isn't quite as nuanced, and kind of amalgamates into a sweet, slightly sugary wheat ale. Booze is better hidden, but it lacks the defined chocolate and nut flavors in the aroma.
M - Surprisingly prickly, with an unfiltered wheat chaff texture. Medium body, a tad chewy late, with a bit of lingering stickiness. Some warming.
D - I liked this more than Ridunkelous by a fair margin. An enjoyable weizenbock with reasonably well-hidden booze and some nice flavors; just could have got for more nuance and a heftier, creamier texture.
