A contemporary take on a timeless classic, our flagship Sanitas Saison blends old world tradition and new world ingredients. Bright gold in color with a cloud-white head, expect this beer to glow with aromas of sweet apricot and bubble gum. Our unique Saison yeast imparts a refreshingly tart fruit flavor while French and American hops leave pleasant citrus and grass notes in the finish. A fine representation of the modern Saison.

Had this in the taproom a few times and had to bring home a 6-pack to drink and review.

APPEARANCE: Yellow straw with a decent sized, stark white head that foams up quickly as soon as the beer is poured. Enjoy the head while it lasts though, it quickly settles and disappears leaving nothing but a thin lattice-like pattern on top of this crystal clear beer.

SMELL: Big, huge bubble gum on the aroma with a nice backbone of lighter fruit aromas. A touch of banana and a very slight spice round the nose out.

TASTE: The bubble gum is still there, but the fruit flavors take over once the beer hits the palate. Again, banana and a little spice are present here, along with some tropical fruits, but they soon give way to a dryer finish of grassy, lemony hops.

MOUTHFEEL: Light in body, sweet to start and drying as it finishes, this is a very well balanced beer.

OVERALL: What an insanely easy beer to drink. It is really hard to believe this is only 5.2%. Full of flavor, yet light in body, this beer is rife with contradictions; sweet, but dry...not malty, but not hoppy, yet somehow both at the same time...a beer you can throw down on the river, yet still fit for a wine glass in a Michelin Star restaurant. Sanitas is off to a great start.

Flat brassy gold color, thinner eggshell white foam cap. Smell is a sort of faint whisper, swirling brings out yeasty esters, soft bread malts, maybe crisp apples, faint vinegar note. Taste is sort of bland and limp, a little bit funkiness in the finish. Watery.

Drain pour.

Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy honey color with a somewhat rocky head; strands of lacing linger

Smell: Bready and somewhat sweet, with hints of butterscotch and lemon

Taste: Very bready, up front, with sugary sweetness and a hint of butterscotch developing; after the swallow, there is a lemony tartness that develops to offset the sweetness but it is the sweeter tones that linger in the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body, slightly creamy; moderate carbonation

Overall: More like an American Wheat than a Saison, I could see this one being consumed on a hot summer day but it really isn't that impressive

An easy drinking, refreshing and crisp Saison.

aroma: Belgian yeast and spice, clove, white wine and slight honey.

taste: Belgium spice, honey, white wine, clove, citrus - predominately lemon with some orange, sultanas and slight pepper.

Simple but refreshing and tasty - would be especially nice on a summers day.

Had this beer before on draft and decided to give it a 2nd chance from can

Pours a mostly cloudy light golden color with a hint of amber hues throughout. A low soft fizzy head with limited retention through the tasting.

The aroma is butterscotch which is what I got the first time too. Very distracting. Some base underlining beer notes hints at nice wheat backing. Some nice esters, with tropical fruits pineapple and hint of mango. Phenolics are a bit hidden but a minor white pepper, rose peddles and an almost coriander hint.

Taste continues with the diacetyl. Not as descript vs the nose. Malt is moderate with a touch of biscuit and wheat. Some harshness boarderline over attenuated. Esters and phenolics are light but good. Some more citrus lemongrass finish.

The body is moderate to mod-light. Carbonation is light especially considering style. Some lingering astringency/harshness as noted before. Overall some nice flavors but diacetyl on both tasting make me think I wont buy this again.

to me this is basically just a wheat beer, and i think we are all getting a little too liberal with the term saison, there is none of that yeast character in this beer, it looks too clean, filtered even in the glass, with an inch of white head. smells like a lemon wheat beer, i get basically no yeast at all, none of the estery saison strains, any of them, and if its there, its extremely mild, dumbed down, made approachable for mass appeal? maybe, because its pretty far out of style if its done this way in ignorance. despite this due criticism, i have to admit, i like the beer quite a bit. the quality is there, good mouthfeel to it, very refreshing, and a pleasant vein of citrus peel running through it. very light malt base, more belgian pils than wheat if i had to guess. a good light summer beer with no visible flaws, except that i think its a real stretch to brand this one as a saison. more yeast character is necessary to get it there, but as a summer wheat i think its quite well done, and the six pack price is reasonable.

Almost didn't buy this because I was afraid it would taste like a crappy pale ale and not "saisonic" at all, mostly due to the little flavor rating bar graphic on the can showing low amounts of color, body, malt, and hops - something I think Sanitas should seriously think about updating.

I'm sure glad I picked this up though, because once you get past the weakish appearance, the beer itself is quite good. I wish I'd had some of this over the summer, but it's still going down pretty nicely in the current freezing temps. The apricot-bubblegum aroma in the featured description is pretty much right on, with an underlying herbal-corn funk. Flavor-wise it just kind of gets in there, blows it up a bit with some bright, tart fruit and then breaks clean off. Mouthfeel is decent for a 5.2%, certainly not lacking, and overall I'm pretty satisfied with it.

I'd get this again, though I think it would pair much nicer with some summer activities!
