Old school bar with a small music venue attached. Lots of old brick, would be interested to find out how old this place is. I think it was the original location of Fordham Brewing going off signage in the window and them still have some shiny copper kettles in the dining room. Pretty good selection of styles, but nothing special. Service was prompt and polite.

I have been here many times over the years going back to the mid 90's. Always a great place to eat and grab a decent beer, Fordham & Dominion and other crafts on tap and I have never had a problem finding a quality "rib-sticking" meal from their menu. The music venue is intimate and the beer service (we have always stuck with pitchers) during the shows is pretty prompt.

It is located right in the heart of Annapolis and you can sit outside and watch people. Their beer selections are below average, but it is a good atmosphere and decent service.

Historic Annapolis pub mixed with live music venue and craft beer brewing. Start by going downstairs, which is often overlooked but packed with history and grab yourself a Fordham. Then make your way out back to sit on the patio and enjoy some quality bar food, lively atmosphere and a nice selection of beers. The patio can get packed with young families on weekend afternoons around brunch but that will shift late afternoon.
Service is laid back and can be a bit slow when on the patio area

The best of the bunch, RMT is one of my favorite places to see some great live music. Seating is intimate and the place has been smoke free well before MD banned indoor smoking. One of the craptacular parts is that the beer menu is different between the concert side and the bar/restaurant side, with the better beer being among the ladder of the two. The basement remains one of the cooler spots to grab some food and enjoy a good beer. It is VERY SMALL however and will get crowded at a certain point, regardless of the night of the week. Live music (down below) also adds to the character of this place. This place has it all as far as dining preference ranging from large party, outdoor-well-designed-intimate-patio style to old Annapolis pub feel.

I enjoyed the Tavern. Its just outside of main street Annapolis but within walking distance of everything the city has to offer. It became a great place to bring friends or to celebrate. Not a bad place for lunch/early dinner either. Overall, the Annapolis area offers a great deal in terms of food and beer.

I still remember when I moved to the DC area way back in 2002 and played often with the Annapolis Symphony, this was the place I would always go with my friends.

Atmosphere: I only sat at the bar, but my wife walked through the place and was awed by its vastness. I'll take her word for it. It's in a really nice location in a rather awesome town.

Quality and Service: The service we had the night we went was pretty good and in terms of beer, the Fordham stuff was fine. Special shout out to the Serious Stout.

Selection: Lots of taps here, mostly brewed by Fordham, but a few from other local MD breweries. Nice.

Food: Didn't do any entrees, but both the onion rings and nachos were great.

Value: Nothing too offensive in this area.

Between the beer & the concert venue, a great place to eat & drink in Annapolis. They changed the menu & have moved away from a "restaurant" menu to more of a "pub" menu - no more crabby mac & cheese, steaks & ribs. They did add, with the burgers, your choice of beef, turkey or veggie burger or chicken filet.

The beer choice is excellent & you can join the beer around the world club. After finishing 100 brews, you get a t-shirt, mug & your name listed in the tavern.

Concert venue is small & intimate but brings in the great acts such as Kenny Wayne Shepard, Willie Nile & Galic Storm

I stopped in for brunch one Sunday afternoon. The place was pretty slow when we first got there, but by the time we left it was starting to fill up.

The building is nice from the outside. Walking in the doors, the bar is right there off to the right. There are tables all around with seating in the back. Old time brewing equipment is on display, to the left as you walk in. We actually sat at a table right next to the copper kettle.

Our waitress was very prompt with our drinks and our food came out rather quickly. She was knowledgeable about the beer menu and even pointed out the upcoming beer release.

The brunch menu was very nice with offerings from sandwiches, waffles, and eggs Benedict. I had the egg and chorizo tacos...three huge tacos with a side of home fries...talk about fulfilling. My girlfriend ordered the Belgian waffle with fresh fruit...the waffle was big and fluffy, but there was only two strawberries on talk.

As far as the beer selection, it was decent. There were no complaints on my part. Most of the selection was offerings from Fordham Brewing...the Tavern and Copperhead were solid. They also had a few Old Dominion beers. How can you go wrong Old Dominion Oak Barrel Stout?! There were other micros available as well.

Rams Head Tavern was an enjoyable place to have Sunday brunch. I would like to visit some of the other locations, but this location was perfect...downtown Annapolis.

Met a friend here who I hadn't seen in about 18 years or something. It was a great meeting spot, in terms of vibe and atmosphere, and the waiter was happy to let us sit and reacquaint for about 15 minutes before we even opened our menus.

I ordered the Tavern Ale, which is a good, solid, bright American Pale Ale. Enjoyed it. My only real complaint with the waiter is that he didn't even seem to know their own beer menu. He took the menus from us as soon as we were done ordering, so when I went to order my second beer, I told him I wanted the Rams Head beer that was described as an "altbier" on the menu. He didn't seem to know what an "altbier" was and seemed to not know they had brewed one. So then he came back to the table with a bottle of Ayinger which was an alt. Cool, it was very good, but not what I ordered. I didn't complain and enjoyed it. And here's where I realized they have a handful of other beers to offer, but you do NOT see that anywhere on the menu. It's only if you were sitting at the bar that you'd know this. So...I guess I was a little disappointed that the waiter didn't really 1) know the brewpub's own offerings and 2) didn't make us aware of the variety of beers that were on offer.

The food was good, although far from spectacular. Tried three different items, and they skirted dangerously close to the bland side, although there was nothing egregiously wrong either. Have definitely had way better pub/brewpub food elsewhere. That bar is set pretty high by now, I think.

Atmosphere is fine, it's quite big and I guess I didn't totally note all the details since I was focused on my old friend and our conversation. I will note that the neighborhood it's in is excellent, has that old-world/colonial New England vibe, complete with old red brick buildings and a beautiful church at the end of the street...you could just picture Benjamin Franklin walking around.

Would go again if I was in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way to make it there if I wasn't.

The beer selection is sizable, probably the biggest that I'm aware of in Annapolis, with lots of quality choices on draught. The house brew is also pretty solid, including great seasonals. Great atmosphere, fun but not deafeningly loud and never too crowded to find a seat somewhere. There is a concert venue attached (small little-known or has-been acts), but usually no live music in the bar itself. Plenty of TVs for sporting events though, and nice spaces including a heated garden area and a cool basement bar.

The clientele ranges in age from twentysomethings to older folks. Which isn't to say the food is bad. I like the appetizers and the burgers, especially the Fordham Cup burger (topped with an onion ring holding in the house crab dip. It's good pub food, but it's still pub food. Usually my friends and I are there for the drinks, not the meals. The wait staff is pretty nice and helpful, though sometimes difficult to track down for another round or to pick up the check.

The location was great for me, about halfway between the Westin Hotel and the waterfront.
Atmosphere was very good, small bar area, however, a lot of seating in other areas. Nice Tavern feel, staff was friendly, good service. Fordham beer dominated the selection with a moderate bottle menu. The food selection looked very good, did not eat, however, everyone was very complimentary of the food.
The entertainment schedule was impressive, unfortunately nothing was scheduled during my visit.
If your in Annapolis I would recommend you stop.

This location is my favorite of all of the Ram's Head locations. Its in a fun spot in downtown Annapolis. You get a unique variety of people from the local college kids to an older crowd as well. They have Fordham beers on tap which are all excellent. I like the Copperhead myself. The place has a unique layout that offers louder and more quiet areas depending on what mood you are in. They often have live music as well. The food is also excellent. I notice that had free food out during happy hour as well. A fun spot in a cool town to spend a day.

Nice atmosphere, like a lot of other places in downtown Annapolis. Rams Head is a very big place with lots of different areas with their own unique feel. We entered through the crowded bar area that was somewhat loud with multiple televisions. We ate in one of the dining areas, which had less noise and was more relaxed. Through our dining area we could see a wedding reception in the patio area. I did not look around the rest of the Rams Head, so I did not see the area where there are concerts or other areas.

Service was good. We had to wait a little bit longer than our reservation was scheduled for, but we were in a big group so I can't complain. Our waitress was prompt and helpful.

Beer selection is pretty good. A large selection of Fordham beers is available, if not the whole selection because Fordham is located next door. There are also a decent selection of American micros, and a good selection of imports. The import list is broken up by country, with about 20 countries represented. The Fordham Pale Ale was the best Fordham beer I had, but I only had beers from the sampler. The oaked stout was nice as well.

Food selection is very nice. A interesting pick of daily specials, plus a variety of seafood dishes are represented on the menu. I picked the fish and chips. The fish is hand battered and is quite good.

The Rams Head is a great place to get a few beers and food with friends. Enough beer and food selections that everyone is going to be happy, and the quality is good. I would like to catch a show here sometime and try some more Fordham beers. Stop by if your in downtown Annapolis.

I stopped into the Annapolis Ram's Head for a couple quick pints on a recent journey back East. The atmosphere was enjoyable like most other places in Annapolis with a long wooden bar and a comfy feel throughout the restaurant that's housed in an old building by the capital building. The lighting was soft and the brass tap towers were brightly polished. The entire Fordham lineup was on tap along with 8 "seasonals" which were from other breweries and a handful of other handles.

The quality of the two beers I sampled was top notch, Nugget Nectar and Millennium BW, and extremely enjoyable. I stopped by in the afternoon and the place had a good crowd eating lunch. The selection was solid for the area and had a couple gems, the two I mentioned being good examples. The two bartenders that I dealt with were both very friendly although not too beer savvy, which is just fine with me. I ate before stopping into Ram's Head but some of the burgers and lunch items I noticed getting carried to tables looked appetizing. This place is worth a stop in if you find yourself in Annapolis.

While in the area, i was excited to give this place a try. It is pretty big. They have a pub area, dining area, patio and even a downstairs pub. Next door to the restaurant is a spot they host concerts (pretty big names play there as well) and they even have a store for Fordham Brewing gear.

They serve all of the Fordham beers plus several unexciting guest beers, mostly macros like Guiness, Hoegarten, etc. I didn't see the bottled selection, but I believe they have a large selection of these.

Started with a sampler. Everything was good. A lite lager...the copper ale and tavern ale were quite similiar (both amber and a bit hoppy)...the oak barrel stout was the real gem. It had a hint of vanilla and bourbon, but was incredibly smooth to drink. Their summer seasonal was a pleasant tasting and refreshing hefe.

A great location, a block off main street. A decent menu. My club sandwich was good.

My only real complaint was the staff. As we sat in the bar area, a bartender initially brought us our sampler. He plunked the glasses down and raced from the table.

Our waitress started off okay, but she took forever to bring over our beers (we could see them sitting on the bar just waiting to be picked up while she was standing around). She forgot a side we ordered. When I asked for a hefe, she had no idea until I called it by its nickname, the "summer" something or other. When I was trying to buy a pint glass at the store, the kid at the desk sent me up to the crowded bar to buy one because he was out (instead of going and getting more himself). It was a young staff. Nothing awful, just a few little things added together.

Overall, regardless of little staff issues, really good beers. A cool location. You can eat out front as well. A must stop for beer loves in Annapolis.

I stopped by the Ramshead about 2 months ago when I was in the area for work. The place was awesome, free food and great beers. I lucked out and was able to make it there twice, once for the unveiling of their Hefe. I was traveling solo, but everyone was very friendly and I felt right at home. The layout of the place is interesting and I think there is a room to suit everyone’s taste. The bartenders were prompt and remembered where I was as I made my way through the taps. All of the house beers were very tasty, but for some reason I don’t remember my favorite. The free food during happy hour was awesome, mussels one night and seared tuna the other. This food sustained me for both days I was there, so I didn’t try anything off there menu. The free food and cheap beers allowed me to drink every house beer, some several times over, all for less then $20 per visit. Next time I am down there for work, I‘ll be pulling a stool up to their bar.

Atmoshpere: Nice friendly atmosphere, nothing really stuck out.
Quality: Nice an clean joint, it looked like they had a patio which is neat for nice weather, everything was fresh.
Service: Nice waiter and we got good service, but then again we were 2 of maybe 6 patrons.
Selection: The area is a good beer town, but it seems like most places contract brew so it was nice to see a good bottle selection also.
Food: Food was excellent, if you stop in you must eat.
Value: Very reasonable, but not cheap either.

atmosphere: Visited on a lovely early July afternoon as people perused the various tents comprising the art festival on the street outside. The place was full, but not crowded. Wooden, old-time tavern theme with a somewhat convoluted layout divided into a dining room, bar/barroom, tea room, and a rear patio. A few tables lined the sidewalk in front of the building. The place is located on what seems to be a pretty historic, scenic street...and has a great feel to it.

quality: Sampled two different beers, the Tavern Ale and the Copperhead Alt. Disregarding my personal tastes, both seemed to be quality in terms of freshness. With that said, the Alt could use a little work

service: Good service all around. The bartender was happy to give a sample, and wasn't too slow given the amount of people.

selection: Good Fordham selection...a couple stouts, Copperhead alt, Tavern Ale, a lager, and a couple wheats are what comes to mind...and there were surely a couple more. A few more common "micros" were available.

food: Didn't have anything, but the menu looked pretty good, for what it's worth.

Ram's Head is located on West street in downtown Annapolis. Because of its prime location, it is almost always crowded; with locals, tourists, sailors, and mids.

The beer selection is not bad, used to be a lot better, but they have scaled back. They offer a "World Beer Club" where you can earn yourslef a cool oooking pewter mug and a t-shirt for trying 100 beers from around the world.

The best feature of Ram's Head has got to be the outdoor beer garden. On those nice spring or summer afternoons in MAryland, grab a seat outback and spend a few hours. Well worth it.

I get to Ram's Head quite regularly when working in Annapolis during the legislative session. The atmosphere is great and eating out back when the weather is nice (a rare treat in the Spring) is well worth it. The beer selection is a bit limited. If you're a Fordham lover, this is your place. Ram's Head is the place to get Fordham on tap--and they had almost all current offerings (including seasonals) available. The food was a bit pricey, but what you'd expect for West Street. I've never ventured past the grill and sandich menu, but what I had was great. All in all, well worth the trip. A nice Fordham Copperhead and some good food in a convenient location really make for a wonderful evening after a day of work.

This is one of the best places in Annapolis, and definetly the most popular. They've got an awesome atmosphere with options! The main floor - more open with tv's, views of the brewery, the main bar; a downstairs which is the orignal bar - old pub feel, and an outside beergarden.

Happy hour is a must... 2 dollar fordham drafts, and free snacks including roast beef, wings, it all depends on the day. I recommend the Tavern Ale; and other favorites are the Oyster and Genius Stouts, and the Copperhead. If you don't like the Fordham's they have a huge selection of beer's by the bottle, that would rival most great beer bars.

You can't go wrong with Ram's Head, and if you're only in Annapolis for one night, and looking for a bar, this is a good option.

Located on a bustling, colorful Annapolis street Rams Head Tavern impresses with it's ornate Victorian exterior. Bright red bricks, green and yellow fanciful trim and large exterior windows give a welcoming feel to this tavern. Inside the bar has a colonial feel with all of the Fordham brewery selections written above the bar. The restaurant seating section has a open airy look and while busy it wasn't raucous or noisy.

As far as the food goes the Cream of Crab soup was the best by far of our recent crab tour. Silky cream with a hint of nutmeg and sherry and plenty of crab make this a must. Fish tacos rounded out our meal and were excellent.

The Fordham Brewery beers were uniformly well done and tasty. The Tavern Ale was a fine pale ale with a robust malt and hop presence, the Copperhead a crisp, hoppy alt, and the Genius Stout a roasty, smooth dryish brew.

With a wealth of fine eateries and bars Annapolis is a great destination. The Rams Head Tavern is highly recommended by this reviewer and we will definitely be back on our next visit.

My family and I stopped by the Rams Head Tavern for lunch today, choosing to sit on the patio.

Atmosphere: We've eaten at the Rams Head several times, mostly while going to see a show. The atmosphere is equal parts English pub, sit down restaurant and German biergarten (to coincide with different areas of the restaurant).

Quality: The place was busy but our server showed up quickly and took orders promptly (apparently after that step all shit breaks loose, see below).

Service: We beat a rush into the restaurant but the appetizer still took 30-40 minutes. A brief apology and a free round of beers placated us. Another 30-40 minutes passed before the meal arrived, clearly someone in the kitchen or the server royally screwed up. I sent my back, as there was no rational explanation for the delay (and all tables around us with parties of 4 or more that were after us had received their meals).

As a caveat, this was the first instance of bad service that we've encountered there, but it was SO egregious.

Selection: They offer Fordham Brewing Co. ales and lagers on draught and have an extensive bottle listing. Support your local brewery and drink the Fordham ales, you won't be disappointed.

Food: The wings were good, outside of that not much else arrived. In the past we've gone for dinner and the filet was excellent.

I came to this location for a comedy show in the attached On Stage concert hall. They have a deal where if you pay to see a show, you can make dinner reservations before the show and receive 10% off your bill, validated parking, and a single free pint for your dinner party. Not too bad, considering we would have eaten there anyway.

We arrived 2 hours before the show, dinner reservations were for 1.5 hours before the show, so we first went to the crowded bar, finding two seats in the very corner. Place was packed, it's a nice little traditonal little pub upfront, a decent sized wooden bar with scattered little tables all around, fairly crowded, lots of people taking advantage of happy hour. Even though it was crowded, the bartender was great, serving us quickly, answering all our questions about the show, and even offering to transfer our bar tab over to the dinner tab when we went to our table--allowing us to save 10%.

Beer selection is a handful of macro imports, DeGroen's marzen, and then the Fordham taps. I had my two regular favorites, the oyster stout and the tavern ale. I saw two different ads for a seasonal--one was for a doppelbock, the other was for a dubbel---they had neither on tap, apparently nobody can be bothered to keep any of the chalkboards/table ads/menu inserts current. Also, I tried the Genius, which is obviouslt a Guinness ripoff, and I believe is just their oyster stout served on a nitro tap. It was pretty good, definitely better than Guinness, but I still prefer the normal stout.

Dinner time comes, and we get escorted from the main pub area to a little fancier of a back room, table clothes and flowers and lots of suits--totally different atmosphere from up front. Food was excellent--I had the prime rib on special which was both a huge portion (and I got the smaller Queen cut) and very good. Also had excellent cream of crab soup. Server in here wasn't the greatest--he was rather slow, didn't stop by the table very often, came back once with my beer but without my date's drink, oblivious to the fact that she had ordered it. And finally, we were finished eating with about 15 minutes to our show and flagged down our waiter, telling him we needed to settle our check because we had to get over to the other building. Well, he brought it over promptly, but then took his own damn time in picking up my credit card, comes back somehow having lost the receipt I need to sign and give to him, and then went back and took his own damn time running it again. I was watching my watch, and all said and done it took 20 minutes to pay our tab--we were late, I was pissed, but luckily our show started late too. This guy is why the service score is as low as it is.

The show itself is at a fairly small venue, I think I read it seats 217, and there's not too many bad seats in the place. There's a limited two page food menu, I think appetizers and burgers, and they also serve all the Forham brews but one--the oyster stout.

Overall, I had a great time. As I say, I went for a (musical) comedy show, but most nights they just have normal bands playing--its a really nice intimate venue, you can eat fairly good food, and drink decent beer. I like it a lot better than the cavernous and overcrowded Rams Head Live downtown.
