Witbier is a Belgian style ale that is typically pale and cloudy due to a high concentration of wheat and barley protein. Traditionally spiced with coriander and Curaçao orange peel, witbiers are light, refreshing, and complex.
Ten Ninety Imperial Wit is highly versatile and compelling. Our Imperial Wit has a body and alcohol level typical of many table wines, with a drying acidity, lighter body, and notes of orange peel and coriander.

Do not take the beer for granted or you’ll be stumbling. Great flavors and very drinkable. Has the tangy nose snd tangy from coriander and orange peels.

Carried from the curb at Beermiscuous, my source for Chicago's off-beat crafters.
Of the 120 wits I've had, none were 10 ABV, over half are about half of that. So Ten Ninety is performing as an absolute outlier on the Bell curve. The Ten Ninety wit's alcohol is well-hidden; and in a subtle style, that might be even harder to do than in a style that has become popularly extreme.
By buying this wit, I recognize that I've neglected Ten Ninety. It is one of a handful of brewers in the Chicago suburbs that is growing into the Belgian tradition in a good way.
Imperial Wit Looks offers a pretty orange and is lively enough; but the foam slows down, a sign of yeast that needs more life. Smells also are above average fruity, but not distinctive. Tastes are full fruity and the concealed alcohol deserves kudos.
In the mouth, soft with some lurking phenols that seem controlled. Is that hard to do that with wheat ?
As for my micro-brewer review... I want to visit them. Ten Ninety is three blocks from the train station, so I have a designated driver. Ten Ninety has done lots of wits and the amped-up ABV that does not show proves that they are worth a visit... and for an interesting menu also. I will look for more Ten Ninety and I intend to put a visit on my Bucket Liszt.

A-a golden orange with a thin layer of white head
S-Belgian spices, light yeast, apple and pear
T-pale malt, spices, summer fruits, and a light alcohol warming
M-medium body and crisp carbonation
Overall this reminds me more of a Belgian pale ale or Tripel, but still enjoyable

Absolutely delicious, and beautifully balanced in its use of honey. As others have noted, it goes down super easy for a 10.1% Overall, this is talent deserving wider recognition (and wider distribution).
