Rathsherrn Pale Ale has a dark golden colour like wildhoney with a solid head. it smells very fruity and citrus like. the malt is balanced but three types of hops (Chinook, Amarillo and Cascade) give this beer a very dry and refreshing mouthfeel with a great hopy aftertaste. (275 characters)

330ml bottle, poured into La Chouffe tulip.

A: Bronze, clear, small tanned head which didn’t hang around long, minimal lacing.

S: Cascade and Simcoe hop, mild citrus, not overly fragrant when compared with other APA/IPAs, although this improved as the beer warmed.

T: Initially watery, the citrus fruits were prevented frombreaking through, but this changed as the beer warmed, moderate bitterness, slightly wheaty finish.

M: Slightly sticky texture, lower carbonation as is the norm for the genre.

O: Really picked up as it warmed, decent for the price but needed more depth to compete with its transatlantic rivals. (628 characters)

330ml bottle as a gift from Dresden, Germany - drank in Bremen:
Not a bad offering for my first German craft beer, it was certainly different from all the other beers I managed to try on my recent trip to the country and it was a beer that went down fairly well without really excelling. There was some nice hops coming through and a decent enough amount of bitterness as a result but I couldn’t help but feel that it seems a little too much like a watered down version of an American pale ale. Enjoyable and easy to drink whilst sitting in the sun but I doubt it would be one I’ll have again. (597 characters)
