Chestnut with a thin layer of taupe froth; peanut butter, crusty melanoidins, and a winey grape note on the nose; Purple Nerdz, walnuts, slight toffee + carob, vague peanut comeback, tannic hit and more jam to finish; finish, dry, lt-med.

3.75 x 5

I’m drinking this trying to imagine what I’d think of it in a blind taste test: a blast of candy sweet fruit, the outline of a brown ale, and a muddled ending.
Peanut butter only manifests in a vague earthiness and powdery aftertaste, nothing like, say, Left Hand Peanut Butter Cup porter. I also don’t get much of the bread or brown sugar other reviews mention.
That leaves oversweet jammy berry notes that taste artificial, and a Newcastle type thin (despite the ABV) sharpness.
I’m wondering if this is old (no BBD that I can find on the bottle) or has had a recipe change (current label shows 6.4%, not the 6% this entry lists.)
Either way, I don’t like pastry stouts or fruit sours, this didn’t change my mind about these types of beers.

Out of balance and never comes together.

After reading the other reviews, I’m wondering if I just bought some bottles from a bad batch. Maybe one where they left out the pb and doubled down on the j. The flavor is over saturated with grape kool-aid. The mouth feel is fairly flat. The head is pretty thin. Smell is grape kool-aid. Now let’s talk about the after taste. I could taste this beer for several minutes after finishing a glass. The flavor was like a bitter version of the sickeningly sweet grape flavor of the beer itself.

I tried three of the four beers pouring out at least a quarter to a half of each one and abandoned the fourth altogether. This beer was utterly disgusting. 0/5 stars overall.

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass.

Deep ruby mahogany red body, with almost a purple like color to it, fairly clear appearance. Slightly khaki colored head, with a real nice rich lathering three fingers of height. Bold and impressive looking brew.

Aroma is pretty much on point. An excellent peanut quality, that gives to peanut butter, hard salty shells, and store bought grape jelly. There's even it seems like a hint of salt to this. This is extremely impressive.

Palate goes to much more simpler qualities. Simple bodied with a good malt backbone. Lots of jelly like fruit flavors but with a minimal controlled sweetness. The nut quality is a little less noticeable. Kind of a tannic almost puckering aftertaste of jellied like grape as well.

Wish this had a bit more brown ale character, particularly some toasty qualities. Unfortunate the nut is a bit subdued, but it's a solid neat ale.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a medium brown color and a hazy consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, off white, fairly long-lasting head. Solid lacing.

S: A sweet and enticing aroma of malt, peanuts, a strong vinous quality, and some berries.

T: Tasted of a whole lot of the aforementioned vinous quality (lots of grapes), some peanuts (more subtle than expected), a good amount of malt (present throughout), and bit of raspberry and strawberry notes. An interesting flavor that actually delivers on its promises. It takes a while for the peanuts to emerge, but it's worth the wait. Tasty stuff.

F: A fair amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. Light- to medium-bodied.

O: A solidly enjoyable beer. Well worth a try.

First beer by FBB, and wow this was a fun one! Thanks fellow bottle share participant! Look wasn't much, typical brown ale with some murkiness, decently light brown. The smell though had great peanut butter, raspberry, and strawberry, all within a sweet matrix. The taste was even more defined with the flavor, truly tasted like a pbj with a very white bread, no crust of course. Saltiness from the pb pairs wonderfully with the sweet jammy fruit. Feel is a little sweet for a brown and a little thin

This is the most unique flavored beer I've ever tried. Seriously, I could not tell you if I liked it or hated it. It does deliver on its promised flavors. You'll get a sweet strawberry jam, a faint peanut butter and a yeasty bread flavor which mimics burnt bread or well done toast. It smells like toast and strawberry jam.

There is some Willy Wonka stuff going on here flavor wise. There is little to no head and the beer's color and appearance looks like flat Pepsi cola. If you are drinking this for the novelty, you'll be quite impressed. If you expect to be able to drink more than one of these ... think again. A little goes a long way and you won't want another for at least a few days after drinking the first one. Just a very odd beer overall.
