Drop the dressing and ditch the pumpkin, Sweet Potato Casserole is fresh out of the oven and ready to party. This fall treat is just like moms used to make - only if moms had penchant for gooey marshmallow, fall spices, and gobs of sweet potato cavorting in one sinful glass. Bottoms up.

Food pairings suggestions:
Turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, and gravy. Pecan pie. Roast pork loin. Salisbury steak. Corned beef hash. Pumpkin pancakes with walnuts and maple syrup.

Has a very murky golden look with a very little white head. I could smell a something sweet to it. Probably marshmallows. You can taste a hint of sweet potatoes mixed with cinnamon.

Probably my biggest surprise this season. I don't typically enjoy sweet potatoes, but damn I just hadn't tried them the right way. I will look forward to this every Fall, probably even more than most of my favorite pumpkin beers.

Served on-tap at Funky Buddha 10/4. Leftover from their 2nd Anniversary Celebration

A: Pours mahogany with a small cap. Decent retention

S: Definitely lives up to the name, this is awesome and has every note typical of a sweet potato casserole; holiday spices, toasted marshmallow, brown sugar, and certainly sweet potato. Impressive and creative!

T: Nailed it, what else can you say. A little on the sweet side but not cloyingly so. A sipper for sure.

MF/O: Smooth mellow carbonation, cinnamon marshmallow finish. Alcohol is very well hidden, but one or two of these is probably enough in one sitting. Definitely one of those novelty beers that happen to be delicious.

Poured from a 12oz bottle (bottled on 10Sep15) into a snifter at 40°F.
LOOK: Pours with two finger's worth of off-white foam that halves itself after 45 seconds. Amber in color with a moderate amount of cloudiness. There's a plethora of medium-sized bubbles rising to the top of the glass. Lacing is thick and high.
SMELL: Has mild aromas of vanilla, cinnamon, sweet potato, baked pie crust, and marshmallows. Yeah. This is basically a sweet potato casserole blended up into a bottle.
TASTE: Strong flavors of vanilla and cinnamon enter initially and are immediately followed by strong flavors of baked pie crust and mild flavors sweet potato. Strong marshmallow flavors enter lastly as all previous flavors persist except for sweet potato, which grow stronger.
FEEL: Somewhere between medium-bodied and light-bodied. There are hints of carbonation. This has to be the smoothest and most creamy beer that I have ever had. Finishes with a subtle dryness.

Cloudy copper color. White foamy head. Smell is sweet vanilla, heavy marshmallow, light spice. Taste is... Holy shit, just like sweet potato casserole! I love this beer, another amazing bottle from fb!

Rating this on what they were going for. They hit it!
Mild carbonation. Nose is very sweet, almost candy-like. Flavor follows suit and is indicative of the name of this beer.
I like novelties, and Funky Buddha as well. This beer hits the mark on what they were aiming for.

Poured a slightly cloudy pumpkin-amber. Less head than expected, also fairly this.

Smell is not extraordinary: malty with a hint of vanilla.

Taste: wow. Crème with vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, and a slight earthiness, likely from the sweet potato.

Feel: thinner than expected, but not unpleasant. Almost soda-like. But it is impressive considering the abv.

The beer offers sweet potato as advertised, although with not much flavor difference from a pumpkin beer as spices are the defining quality. Flavors include strong ginger, then cinnamon, allspice, restrained caramel, toasty malts, marshmallow sweetness on the finish.

Bottle received as an extra in a recent trade.

This one pours a slightly murky orange, with a small head, and a just a little bit of lacing.

Smells like sweet potato, vanilla cream and marshmallow, and some cinnamon.

This one ultimately succeeds because the spicing is minimal and complementary to the rest of the beer, rather than being the star, which it definitely could have been. There is way more marshmallow and sweet potato here than anything else, and it's executed well and correctly, in my opinion. It definitely gives off the impression of gooey stickey marshmallow in a sweet potato pie. Funky Buddha is really good at recreating a dessert in a beer.

This is medium bodied, a bit creamy, with a lower level of carbonation.

Another nicely done beer here from Funky Buddha. Side note- the marshmallows on the label threw me off, because they look like cartoon teeth, rather than marshmallows.

Very sweet, after-dinner type beer. Has all the flavors of Granny's sweet potato casserole without being too cloying. Very enjoyable in a 12 ounce snifter with Joel Bernstein while in Hollywood for a deposition.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip glass

A- pours a clear deep amber color with a small fizzy white head that eventually disappears completely, leaving nothing behind

S- smells like Thanksgiving; lots of fresh cinnamon up front with notes of creamy marshmallow, brown sugar & vegetal sweet potato, pretty much spot on

T- lots of cinnamon flavor hits first, followed by sweet vanilla and marshmallow, brown sugary pie crust and whipped sweet potato. The finish gives more cinnamon and a linger of nutmeg

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and finish

O- again, FB manages to make a beer that tastes just like it's label suggests. Very good vegetable beer.

A: Burnt orange, thin off white head, good lacing

S: Bread, fruity sweetness that maybe the sweet potato that I am picking up on, spices like clove and vanilla

T: I get those spices, mixed with the potato sweetness, I also get some dark fruit like some raisin or prune that I didnt get in the smell and the bread at the end

M: Medium

O: A beer that really earns its name. I love sweet potato casserole especially here at Thanksgiving time and I was excited when I seen it in the case in Orlando's Whole Foods. Great taste and a pleasure to drink.

F: smooth with a crisp bite at the end.

O: this is quite good for what they are going for. Well done. Basically thanksgiving dessert.

Pours a murky orange-brown with a billowing yellow head. Inviting pungent aroma of caramelized brown sugar, roasted marshmallow and baked yams. The taste profile is as expected, sweet burnt marshmallows, caramel, some bitter spice and a long lasting vanilla finish. A tasty fall brew that is marred only by the strong alcohol presence throughout the session.

Out of a bottle into my pint glass.
A - Poured out a golden amber with minimal white head that settled and faded quickly.
S – Not much of an aroma. Very light vanilla.
T – I’ll be damned it does taste like sweet potato casserole! Sweet potatoes are the first flavor. Vanilla comes next with some cinnamon and nutmeg. Not at all sweet. Just a touch of alcohol at the finish.
M – Lively on the palate. Medium carbonation.
O – Wasn’t sure about this one but it’s good. Very easy to drink. Tastes a great deal like a casserole. Probably not for everyone but if you want a good brew for Thanksgiving and hate the pumpkins..here you go.

Pours sweet potato orange, hazy, finger white head leaves a little lacing. Sweet brown sugary aroma with hint of spice. The taste is surprisingly similar to the name. Sweet sugar, marsh mellow, touch of cinnamon, not overly sweet. The spice and sweetness linger just long enough. Little bit of alcohol comes out at the end. Medium soft mouthfeel, semi dry finish. This one surprised me, was very tasty, would have another.

Getting ginger upfront. Mellows out to vanilla, some vegetal and fall spices(nutmeg, allspice amd cinnamon). Not to sweet but getting some marshmallow . Real good pumpkin like brew.

Most beers from these guys are simply too "funky" for me (pardon the pun); however, I received this one in a trade, so I was obliged to try it. I was pleasantly surprised with its aroma and flavor. It truly is a dessert in a bottle. It is sweet, but not obnoxiously so. Lots of spices play tricks on your tastebuds, which also act as a superior disguise on its relatively high ABV. It is dangerously drinkable.

Came into this skeptical and left convinced. Pours deep cloudy orange color with a small orange hued off white head. Aroma is sweet brown sugar and sweet potatoes, some marshmallow and sugary vanilla notes, light cinnamon spice. Flavor is a burst of marshmallow notes, sweet malts and a brown sugar/cinnamon note to it. Smooth and rich, light carbonation, sweet dessert beer but not overly syrupy. Man, this was way over what I expected. Pretty good stuff and a nice break from the god awful pumpkin beers coming out this time of year. Blows them all away. (NOTE: My bottle says 7.9%, not 9.5% as noted here on the beer's page--maybe they changed the ABV since original release).

Pretty good, but nothing amazing, It has a lot of really nice hints of nutmeg, and other spices on the nose. The flavor is similar, but I think the style of beer clashes with these spices. A porter would have paired much better with this flavor profile.

Give the look some dabs. Colored like a sweet potato. Not quite as orange but darn close. Finger white head that disappeared. Edge ring. Smell is mostly the fall spices and marshmallow. Spicing, the marshmallow, then that can of syruped sweet potato taste. Childhood Thanksgiving deja vu. Just be careful. Sweet and sits heavy. Medium carbonation. A little sticky.

This is a desert in a bottle. This screams sweet potato pie just from the smell in the glass. Sweet spices, sweet potato, marshmallow creme, cinnamon, maybe a little nutmeg. Now sweet potato pie is my favorite dish at Thanksgiving so I was excited to try this. It tastes like the real thing except not as sweet. The marshmallow/vanilla and spices were a delightful mix and somehow the sweet potato seemed to be there. This was a beer that had no alcohol that was detectable which made it dangerously easy to drink. I stashed some of these away that will be part of dinner at Thanksgiving this year! If you see this beer I recommend picking some up.

On tap at the brewery August 2015.

This is a friendly and mild beer. The most prominent flavor I'd say is something akin to marshmallow. That's what they advertise it as, and it comes fairly close but is a bit different. It maybe leans a little more vanilla than your average marshmallow would but, again, it's close. And it goes nicely with the mild and soft sweet potato taste. That's not a very prominent note but it's there. There's a little hints of spice in there as you'd expect from a beer of this name, but pretty mild. Overall it comes across soft and gentle. It's a subtle experience and I didn't think it was overly sweet as some others have mentioned.
