On tap at House of Brews in Jensen Beach, Fl.

A – Poured out a dark brown to light black with almost no head. Still did produce a small ring of off white to tan head that stayed around.

S - Espresso, Roasted malt and a slight milky/coffee creamer aroma. Vanilla.

T – Coffee. Roasted malts. Touch of sweetness. Definitely light vanilla notes like the aroma. Small amounts of dark chocolate and cocoa as well. Nice.

M- Light to medium bodied. Solid carbonation.

O – If you like the roasted malt and coffee flavors in your porter this is the one for you. I totally dug this one as it had a nice strong black coffee flavor. Just plain tasty all around.

Pitch black in color with some cream colored head that faded into a very thin collar. Aroma is very roasty, some dark chocolate and a hint coffee. Taste is roasted malt, and an earthiness to it too. Rich, full body and medium carbonation. Definitely one of the better beers from Funky Buddha.

On-tap at Funky Buddha. Served in a pint glass 5/23/2014.

A- Dark brown body, one finger offwhite head with good retention and rings of lacing. Looks very much the part of a porter.

S- Nutty, smoked malt, a bit of roast malt, slight cherry skin. Nothing special but certainly a solid nose for a porter.

F- This is where things start to go wrong. It starts out nutty, with a small amount of roast malt sweetness, but the biggest issue I have is the teriyaki sauce that kicks up in the middle and finishes out the beer. There is a lot of that smoky umami flavour that just does not belong in a porter, IMO. You could describe it as teriyaki flavoured beef jerky. Some people might like this, but I am not a big fan.

M- Medium bodied, on the thinner side, good carbonation and smooth. A bit sticky and resinous. Not anything particularly off-putting about the mouthfeel other than the strange teriyaki finish.

O- Started out promising, but the teriyaki beef jerky flavour just really didn't do it for me at all. I have to wonder if this is the base beer for Last Snow or MBCP- because if it is, I'm honestly surprised that Last Snow turned out as good as it did.
