Drain pour. Was way too much blood orange or something. Mostly have liked funky Buddha beer to this point but not this one. Was pretty foul and wouldn't recommend seeking out this brew. (185 characters)

Orange body, slight haze (chill haze?). Aromas of blood orange, citrus, and citrusy hops. Taste is mildly bitter after the initial huge wash of blood orange and citrus fruits. Hoppy on the back-end but finished incredibly clean and crisp. This beer begs immediately for another sip. (282 characters)

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Cuvee style glass
Poured a golden orange body with a 1/2 finger of white head.
Smells of citrus: orange and grapefruit.
Taste follows suit with the aroma: Plenty of bitterness up front and a decent amount of orange and grapefruit that lingers on the tip of your tongue.
A little thin on the mouthfeel, but the lingering citrus is delicious and refreshing. Completely hides that this is a 7% abv beer, drinks like a "session ale".
Overall a really tasty beer! One I will pick up more often as long as it is available! (555 characters)

Consumed on tap at the brewery. Nice orange color with bright white head. Aroma was strong orange, not surprisingly with some grapefruit. Taste was citrusy and bitter with a nice orange and just a touch of malt. Finish was dry and clean. Overall a very nice summer drink. The orange blended nicely with the hops and malt. (321 characters)

Poured from a bottle into a glass mug.

Appearance: Slightly hazy, deep amber with a medium head that clings nicely to the glass for the whole ride.

Smell: Tart orange citrus and noticeable but moderate sweet malt.

Taste: Citrus jumps on your tongue, but fades out pretty quickly. The citrus of the hops follow, but doesn't seem as strong as I would expect from an IPA.

Mouthfeel: Good carbonation and a little bit creamy.

Overall: Good beer, but it doesn't seem like there are enough hops to provide a seamless transition from the simple citrus flavor of the added orange to the complex citrus (and other) flavors of the hops. (631 characters)

Funky Buddha Brewery "More Moro Blood Orange IPA"
12 oz. brown glass bottle, "BOTTLED ON 05/28/15 050515"
$3 @ Trader Joe's #766, Tampa, FL

Appearance: Hazy deep amber-orange body beneath a full head of frothy antique-white foam. The head retention and lacing are both very good.

Aroma: Citrusy, with a bit of chalky pith, and a moderate golden malt base.

Flavor: Juicy and mildly tart orange upfront, followed by some malt as it warms across the tongue. Orange, pineapple, berries. The bitterness steps in at the swallow but it's not bold; nor is it particularly needed as the tartness of the juice balances it, and there's not that much malt to deal with either. It finishes dry, just slightly tart, and mildly mineralish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light in body and gently crisp with a fine-bubbled, moderate carbonation. I initially thought that perhaps a bit more carbonation would help, but given the fruitiness I think it's much nicer as it is. Quite smooth.

Overall: Quite refreshing! I've sampled other blood orange beers and found them to be two-sided, with the fruit showing up almost as an additive atop the beer, but this is very focused and appears seamless. Worth trying! (1,184 characters)

Orange-copper brew, fairly clear. Modest pale head with poor retention.

Citrusy aroma, slightly tart; very little else presented.

Flavor follows: remarkable tartness for an IPA, reflecting the blood orange juice. Hops tend to meld into the background behind (with?) the juice. A touch of yeast esters come through early; slightly piney hop notes are barely noticeable starting mid-palate.

Lively yet smooth feel; medium to medium-light bodied; very drinkable past the initial tartness.

Not bad; reminiscent of Grapefruit Sculpin, but more fruit juice based vice hops. (571 characters)

Yep it is a very fruity IPA, maybe more of a fruit beer. But it is a very enjoyable one. Fruit up front with a nice IPA bitterness at the end. I liked this a lot. (166 characters)

Bottle. No code date. Appearance: Golden with a reddish orange hue, clear, and a thick, frothy khaki head that lingers. Aroma: Toasty malt, citrus rind, earthy, herbal. A hint of citrusy hop, but minimal. Taste: Wow, this is interesting. Starts with a bitter, acidic punch of grapefruit juice, a punch of bitterness, and then finishes with some toasty, breast malt. Kinda like drinking an IPA in reverse. Mouthfeel: Medium body and moderate carbonation. Finish: strong lingering grapefruit and orange rind tartness, and strong bitterness. Powerful finish. Overall: A very interesting IPA. The use of blood orange combined with the citrusy hops make for a powerful acidic citrus background flavor. Malt backbone is there, but the tartness and bitterness dominate the overall taste profile. Pretty tasty. (802 characters)

WARNING: This is not an American IPA. You cannot be further from it. I dont care what the brewery says. This is a fruit beer 110%. A very good one I might add but just that. Amazing fruit beer, worst IPA ever. (209 characters)

Not sure what changed but this is not the More Moro of old. I'm a fan of blood orange and citrus in general and this beer just didn't have the citrus I expected. (161 characters)

Beer has a thin head that leaves rings, with a clear amber red type appearance. Heavy citrus smell. Heavy blood orange taste in the front with the hops hitting you on the back. For an ipa this beer is not over the top hoppy and is a good medium for someone who wants to dabble in trying ipa's. So happy they have started to offer in bottles. (341 characters)

Funky buddha More Moro
12oz bottle into pint glass
Bottled on: 5/26/15

A: Pours a slightly hazy golden copper with less than 1 fingers width of off white colored head. Although the head is small it has great retention and leaves lots of lacing. 4.25

S: Tons of citrus notes, including orange and grapefruit, subtle tropical fruits, some sweet malts to balance. Very nice 4.25

T: Like the nose there's tons of citrus; orange, grapefruit and lemon zest. Decent amount of bitterness. Enough sweetness to balance. 4.25

M/D: Medium body, carbonation appropriate, good drinkability. 4.25

O: Very good beer, a little one dimensional, but quite enjoyable nonetheless. Would drink again any time. 4.25 (703 characters)

There was no discernible orange flavor, whatsoever. Dank, flat, gross. I can't believe they would release this batch, especially as the "introductory Orlando" batch. I felt ripped off by FB on this one. I get the sense that their desire for rapid growth is a priority over quality control. I will proceed with caution on any new FB releases going forward. (355 characters)

Re-reviewed out of a fresh bottle. A beautiful looking beer with a great nose that's loaded with citrus and malt. The taste and mouthfeel fall short though with an cloying and acrid fruit pith finish. (202 characters)

Meh. At four bucks a bottle I expected a revelation but it was disappointing. I would have classified it more as a Belgian instead of IPA as it was missing the hop bite of an American IPA. Good beer for sure, but there are many others to drink at this price and style. (268 characters)

A- It pours a honey golden color with a thin, pure white head. The head fades fast, leaving a thin ring of foam with decent lacing.

S- The aroma threw me for a loop. There is a lot of citrus. It almost comes across as soapy.

T- more citrus. Lots of orange. It tastes like you diluted an IPA with orange juice. Astringent citrus peel bitterness in the finish.

M- refreshing. Light bodied, slightly prickly carbonation.

O- interesting and odd. Glad I tried it. Not recommended for those seeking a traditional IPA. (528 characters)

I live in southwest Florida, somewhat parallel to the Funky Buddha Brewery on the east coast of Florida.

This beer just showed up in my nearby liquor store. And this is how I explained it to my liquor store owner:

Dogfishhead 60' IPA is the best IPA you sell. On a scale of 1 - 10, it is a 10.

New Belgium Ranger IPA is the next best IPA you sell. It is a 7 on a scale of 10.

Funky Buddha Hop Gun IPA is a 5 on a scale of 10.

Funky Buddha More Moro Blood Orange IPA is a 1 on a scale of 10. It does not taste like an IPA, at any temperature. I can not taste any hops, only orange.

This is not an IPA. Consequently, it should be moved to another classification. (666 characters)

Update to previous rating, which was a 4.14 from MBCP day on draft.

This bottle version is extremely disappointing. Very artificial taste that doesn't even blend well with the base ipa. I apologize in advance to any regulars I extra this to...for the tick. (259 characters)

12oz served in a snifter glass, on-tap at Funky Buddha in Oakland Park, 5/21/2014.

A- Dark orange-copper body, half finger white head, not much retention or lacing. Really unsure about this one initially based on first impressions.

S- Smells like straight up orange juice, with some floral notes and orange zest. Not complex, but certainly very interesting.

F- Orange juice without the pulp, some crackery pale malt, orange rinds, no real indication of bitterness aside from a trace of floral and citrus hops on the backend. A slight bit of alcohol reminds you that you're not drinking OJ.

M- Medium bodied, not bitter at all, literally drinks like pulpless OJ. A bit resinous, not particularly dry, much like OJ can be.

O- Very interesting IPA, I get the concept but this was more like a cocktail with orange juice rather than an IPA. Enjoyable to drink nonetheless! (873 characters)

Thanks to rudzud

light creamy head, decent lacing even though smaller head, deep murky blood orange pinkish creamy color.

Nose is just all pure blood orange, juicy fresh squeezed blood orange, nice citrusy mild grapefruit like hops still come through, little rind, mild creamy orange creamscicle

Taste is interesting, def that big blood orange juice and flesh again, but a rind bitterness and little musty hop vinous like thing. The rind bitterness really takes off with a little earthy sap like perfumey note, fair bitterness, into a little wheat like grainy cracker malt, mild sweetness. Finish is drier little sticky, big spicy rind bitterness, more blood orange and little grapefruit rind. little creamy orange creamscicle.

Mouth is med bod, decent carb.

Overall good but mixed, phenomenal nose, but the taste dropped off a bit, but still nice, that crazy rind bitterness seems to steal the show unfortunately. (923 characters)

Received in a trade, shared with JLindros and Threelions.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a murky blood orange juice hue with a thin head that fades to leave thin wisps.

S - Aromas of blood orange galore, huge huge orange creamsicle, light vanilla, grapefruit hops, faint caramel malts. Glorious blood orange.

T - Taste is light alcohol, blood orange is there in light bitterness, juicy orange, faint creamy light vanilla, faint grapefruit bitter, Huge rind notes kind of takes away from the blood orange but this is still delicious.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, clean, very drinkable.

O - Overall this beer was insanely aromatic, crazy. Very wonderful representation of blood orange in a beer. (715 characters)

I personally tend to dislike "frutty" beers. More Moro is an interesting combination of an IPA hoppiness and taste of blood oranges. Color is beautiful and inviting. Aromas of orange/grapefruit/hopps are well balanced and inviting. It feels refreshing. I'll keep coming back for it on tap... but I bought a small stash for home!

Pity 2015 version is different... not as good as it was in 2014... now available in bottles... maybe it will get better... (453 characters)

This is an interesting beer. Once it is poured, it has a reddish color, most likely the blood orange. It is cloudy. Not too much carbonation. Aroma reveals a straight forward citrus smell. Very little hops smell, strange for an IPA but since this is a blood orange IPA, it is acceptable.

Taste is a complete different story. This is basically an orange juice, a bit more sour and bitter than usual. It could also be a mimosa with dry champagne. I am guessing a mix of citrus was used, like grapefruit, orange, and blood orange. It is a thin beer, nice IPA. Very little hoppy flavor.

I definitively felt healthy drinking this beer. (633 characters)

On tap at the brewery. Served in a snifter.

Appearance - Deep orange body. Almost reddish. White head that settles to a thin collar and a few islands.

Smell - Tons of grapefruit. Orange and grapefruit aromas. Some pale malt barely comes through.

Taste - Here it's more distinctly orange. Still has some grapefruit character, but it's got an orange sweetness. It's bitter almost immediately. Very bitter in the finish. Some pale malt again makes a meager appearance.

Mouthfeel - Medium body and quite bitter. Citrus pith bitterness, not hop.

Overall - It doesn't taste like diacetyl!! The orange either covers it up or they made a good batch of Hop Gun. I'm thinking the former. (684 characters)
