Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.70%

Notes / Commercial Description:
Blood Orange IPA. We ceremoniously slaughtered heaps of crimson-fleshed “Moro” fruit to retrieve its delicious ichor, and then blended it with caramel malts and grapefruity hops.

Severely underrated.

When I hear Blood Orange IPA, it better stand up to such a deliciously malty citrus. And this certainly does. Bright juicy notes that pave a path for easy drinking. 7.7%? Never would have guessed. Drinks like a session IPA, except this actually has a juicy integrity that other members of this style can only dream of.

More please!

Looks= Cloudy orange, kinda like a Mamosa.

smells like OJ. very sweet and juicy.

Taste= Taste like a mamosa. Lots of orange sweetness. Easy to drink. Does not have much bitterness.

Overall, this a good beer for anyone trying to get into craft beers. Maybe even a gateway to more traditional IPAs. I will buy this again.

A lot of juicy orange flavour but lacks the base IPA. There was next to no bitterness present, making this beer resemble more of an orange-infused what beer than an IPA.

Pours a hazy orange-gold. Fairly dark tint. Small cream colored head vanishes pretty quick. Just a wisp of lacing.

Very strong blood orange aroma. Lemon, regular orange, and tangerine.

Lots of citrus on the tongue, blood orange and tangerine being the most prominent. Very light malt. Something a touch soapy, as well.

Mild mouth feel with medium carbonation. Low bitterness. Strong, lingering citrus.

Very interesting beer. Citrus to the exclusion of almost anything else.

says to "drink fresh" but no date on bottle.... labels are good places for dates...
LOTS of blood orange flavor, citrus, orange, grapefruit. not great flavor, but there is a lot of it. my bottle says only 7%. mild carbonation- more would help the flavors, i believe.... it's alright.... it's decent.... it's good.... i could drink more of these, after thinking more about it....

Orange bodied with a small off white head.

Aroma is has a hefty blood orange juice punch, gets a little more regular orange, floral, and some slight caramel malt presence.

Bitterness is really low. Guessing they rely heavily on the orange juice for the "hop" flavors. Medium bodied with good carbonation and it drinks smoothly. Flavor is a little thin with blood orange and malt. Bready flavors come out.

Kinda meh. Was really excited about the idea of a blood orange IPA but it was good enough.

This is a very dirty murky orange looking beer. The smell and taste follow the appearance. Almost like a taste you get from a dirty tap even though this came from a fresh bottle. It's very citrusy, but there is a mild unpleasant bitterness to it. There is little to no carbonation, which leaves this tasting like orange juice with a small amount of alcohol added.

Pours a hazy reddish orange body with a light tan head that dissipates quickly.

Smell is of citrus, grapefruit, and orange juice. Taste is of orange juice and hops, some grapefruit flavors as well. finishes with a bitter hop taste. Its not bad, but it tastes more like a bitter IPA with grapefruit/orange juice added to it.

Feel has a nice carbonation with a medium mouthfeel, not bad at all.

overall its a perfectly fine beer. Nothing to get excited about, but I could see enjoying it on a hot day.

Looking at the reviews I have to assume this batch is better than pr virus. Is it a traditional IPA? No... But it is a really nice combo of fruit presence and subtle hoppiness on the back end. I love buoyed it and think folks will be quite surprised by the improvement in the batch.

Funky Buddha Brewery - More Moro. 7.7% ABV. 12oz snifter ordered at the brewery.

Look: Pale hazy orange body, arriving with a thin white head which ends up as a ring of lacing.

Smell: Sweet and tangy citrus on the nose, and nothing else really.

Feel: Light to medium body, with a lot of lively carbonation.

Taste: Sweet and tangy citrus fruit, along with some light bitter hops. Finishes sweet and bitter.

Overall: Very sweet IPA, with a little bit of hop presence near the end. I'm not sure if the other batches weren't as good, or everyone else just has too high of standards, but I thought this was amazing. My brother described as looking, smelling, and tasting like Sunny D, and he's right.

Pours a very hazy orange with almost no head. Smells of citrus and sweetness. Tastes of heavy orange and minor bitter finish. Mouthfeel is a little thin. Different in a good way. Could start a night with this, but doubt I'd want to finish on it.

On tap 3/6/2016. Back to the (near) original formulation. Opaque and orange-yellow in color. Smell is straight fresh squeezed OJ. Taste is hoppy OJ but less sweet with some dankness in the mix. Much better than 2015's formulation

I've had this beer from 3 different batches and I've found it to be inconsistent. The first time I had it I found it to be pretty solid. Good blood orange flavor, good color and mouthfeel. Second time I had it I was very disappointed. Overwhelming orange flavor, looked like sediment in the bottom of the glass, just really bad. The most recent batch improved dramatically over the second batch, but still not as good as the first. Hopefully they'll figure this one out because it has the potential to be good.

meh, had a lot higher hopes for this one, especially after hearing some really favorable feedback. its fine as a fruit beer, but as an ipa, it leaves a whole lot to be desired. orangey red in color, indian sunset in my glass, minimal head, some haze. smells great, acid and sugar from the fruit, bitter from the rind, authentic for sure, but where are the hops?! in the taste, the fruit blows it up, forward and dominant all the way, with good acidity cutting its own sweetness when it matters most. somewhat of an amber grain sweetness, more caramel and toffee, they could have dialed this back a little with the fruit sugar, its a little double jeopardy for me on this. the hops are really missing for me though, i hardly get them at all. some bitterness i suppose, but its as much from the fruit peel as it is from hops, and without any real oil or alpha acid, its lacking. more of a fruit beer than an ipa, but i see how good it could be if there were more hops happening, which makes me like it less. the potential is there, but the execution if lacking. if you like blood orange, you will love this. less so for the ipa heads.

A medium-dark brown colored beer with plenty of carbonation, seen in the form of white bubbles. Smells of sweet malt and some citrus that are both pretty faint, not much of a smell at all. Tastes like a malty IPA but has a nice citrus flavor added by the blood orange. It is very prominent and saves the weak base IPA in my opinion. It drinks with a surprisingly heavy body (relative to most IPA's) which balanced with the carbonation works well. Overall it's not bad, but it's not a beer worth seeking out in my opinion.

Pours an apologetically pale orange with a thin head. Orange comes through in the nose, but not the flavor. Flavor Is sour grapefruit with some awful funk back up. Hops do not appear at all. My first beer from Funky Buddha and, sadly, not even remotely enjoyable. Quite disappointing.

This one was just not very enjoyable. It didn't drink like an IPA. I got almost no happiness and it had an almost farmhouse like funk to it. The blood orange on the nose was ok, but the taste was clearly not from real fruit.

This is everything I hoped it would be when I bought it. There's a dryness to it that you associate with hoppy IPAs, but it's tart and like a sour. The blood orange really makes it light and drinkable without taking away from the IPA part of its taste.

Pours a bright copper with two big fingers of head that linger for a long time. The nose has citrus upfront with some hops. The citrus flavor is really overdone and drowns out everything else including the hop bitterness.

12 oz bottle poured into a pub-style pint glass.

Hazy golden orange with 1 finger of bone white head. Moderate carbonation.

Orange citrus all the way! Candy sugar, Creamsicle, caramel, and a touch of grapefruit.

Plenty of blood orange juice and orange Creamsicle. Very light hop flavor; maybe a snap of grapefruit zest and pine beneath the juice. Very balanced caramel maltiness.

Medium bodied, smooth, and juicy with a light bitterness.

Great blood orange flavor. Not much in the way of an IPA but tasty nonetheless.

Orange/amber color with a bubbly thin head. Smell is of sweet oranges and citric hops. Tastes of tart blood oranges and sweet caramel undertones with a dose of herbal and citric hops. Finish is too heavy on the blood oranges but a refreshing take on a fruit IPA.

Drain pour. Was way too much blood orange or something. Mostly have liked funky Buddha beer to this point but not this one. Was pretty foul and wouldn't recommend seeking out this brew.

Orange body, slight haze (chill haze?). Aromas of blood orange, citrus, and citrusy hops. Taste is mildly bitter after the initial huge wash of blood orange and citrus fruits. Hoppy on the back-end but finished incredibly clean and crisp. This beer begs immediately for another sip.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Cuvee style glass
Poured a golden orange body with a 1/2 finger of white head.
Smells of citrus: orange and grapefruit.
Taste follows suit with the aroma: Plenty of bitterness up front and a decent amount of orange and grapefruit that lingers on the tip of your tongue.
A little thin on the mouthfeel, but the lingering citrus is delicious and refreshing. Completely hides that this is a 7% abv beer, drinks like a "session ale".
Overall a really tasty beer! One I will pick up more often as long as it is available!

Consumed on tap at the brewery. Nice orange color with bright white head. Aroma was strong orange, not surprisingly with some grapefruit. Taste was citrusy and bitter with a nice orange and just a touch of malt. Finish was dry and clean. Overall a very nice summer drink. The orange blended nicely with the hops and malt.
