This beer surprised me in the sense that I wasn't expecting too much. Had good bite to it along with good color and a decent smell. Picked this up at a local grocery store in the craft a pack section and was a pleasant little surprise. Not a bad choice to drink in the future.

Perfectly balanced IPA. seems to go down like water despite a commendable hop-explosion. THe carbonation is absolutely perfect. It's not over-bearing in any way.. not big.. poundable! Dry, but not TOO dry. Nice stab if I must say so myself. PUlled up the BA score prior to 'leaving the isle', but it was the only one I searched and I said to myself "if it sucks but it's scored 83 then so be it.besides nice design work on the label right?:)?.. but I think that may be a tad under-scored BA.. maybe 84..possibly even 85/100 for me.. solid brew.. Sierra has a contender on the shelf(for now, but who knows how long,.. hard to find good/accessible-as-in-local-grocer IPA's). Had never heard of this, and I've drank my share of beers. I make my own all grain too, and this IPA is light on abv bu still tastes great and has a great bod... talk about having you rcake and eating it too. nice beer. I mean it's no Commodore Perry or anything, and not even as good as a local, fairly accessible but no less expensive draft of Terminal Brewings' Magnum PA(although this isn'tnecessarily overpriced - paid 8.49+tax),.. but it's darn tootin' close to being as good as those super-ipa's. really solid. the label says "just drink it"... love it.. and the beers drinkability speaks to that.

look: 3.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.5

Appearance: pours an orange color with a 2" head that falls quickly.

Smell: some light caramel and hop aroma are barely detectable.

Taste: caramel, mild citrus tones, mango, and a mild bitterness make up a standard fare IPA.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Crisp to start, a bit less crisp at the finish with a short lasting aftertaste. Refreshing.

Overall: very easy drinking IPA that leans more towards a Pale Ale as the hop bitterness is noticable but very timid.

A: The beer is clear yellowish amber in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high off white head that died down, leaving patches of bubbles on the surface, a collar around the edge and lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose—oranges seem to stand out in particular.
T: The taste is similar to the smell, except that there are additional notes of grapefruit hops and hints of underlying caramel malts. There is a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is quite sessionable given its low alcohol content and might be a good introductory beer for someone to the IPA style as the hops flavors aren't too strong.

drank straight from the bottle so no comment on appearance. Bottle label plain, not flashy, indicative of its name.

Not much aroma coming from the bottle but smells of some light floral hoppiness and bready malts

Taste was surprisingly good. Wasn't expecting much with it being 4.8% but very good hop profile. some white grapejuice, grassy lemon, and good bitterness at the finish. A lot of flavor in this. Not watery, bland, or over the top bitter hoppiness like some session IPA's turn out to be.

Very good carbonation, light, crisp, and dry. Session IPA for sure.

Was expecting something really balanced akin to an APA when I saw this but it definitely tastes like an IPA, with mouthfeel of an APA. I liked this as a session IPA more so than Laggy's Daytime IPA for sure. Nice start for this new brewing company.

Appearance - very nice IPA color, reddish brown which you can barely see through. Impressive for a fairly generic IPA.

Smell - again, very nice for what isn't an impressive IPA. It has a floral, citrus smell that reminds me of a better IPA.

Taste - feels like drinking an IPA from Old Navy... Looks the same on the outside, but doesn't quite fit / feel as good, last as long, keep u as warm, etc.

Mouthfeel - crisp and thin, but fairly one dimensional like the taste. Wouldn't be a bad beer if u wanted to drink all day, and were he'll bent on drinking IPAs.

Overall, it was better than I thought it would be, but I had low expectations.

On tap at Swifty's in Delmar, NY.

Pours a light amber color, with a one inch head, and good lacing down the glass.

Aromas include citrus hops and pine.

The taste includes citrus hops and pine as well. As the name suggests, this is a pretty simple IPA. Grapefruit and orange are the dominant hop flavors, but don't stand out too strongly. The caramel malt makes a play near the end, sweetening up the finish.

Light to medium bodied, crisp, well carbonated, and very drinkable.

A simple, easy drinking IPA- good for when you don't want to think too hard about the beer.

Poured chilled into ribbed ale glass, courtesy buzzlitebeer

A: very clear amber color; medium head (large bubbles) dissolves relatively quickly, but with good, Sprite-like carbonation.
S: sweet, hoppy aroma, very promising for hopheads
T: medium sweet, very palatable IPA; hops are prominent, but tend toward sweet, bubblegum flavoring rather than bittering; complex, full flavor belies the relatively low ABV, making this an excellent beer for events where food might be scarce; slight overtones of butter, pine, nut

Excellent sessionable IPA

Had on tap in a pint glass.

Pours a clear bright copper with a one finger white head. Decent lacing and head retention.

There is a very bright citrusy hop aroma that kind of surprised me. Not much malt at all in the nose but the pleasant hops more than make up for that.

The flavor is much like the aroma with tropical citrus and there is just a slight touch of toast from the malt. The balance is outstanding and the flavors are very clear and crisp with a drying, moderate bitterness. Mouthfeel is thin but this is a lower alcohol beer.

Overall, this beer surprised me in how good it was. I know they were going for just a basic, no frills IPA and this really hits the mark. Something I really wouldn't mind having again.

The just beer project..great beer for all. ok, well...i'm down with that. At 4.8 % alc. by vol this is a bit of a bub category for the style. "Session IPA".

Several shades of gold in color, substantial, lacy foam, active, lively look.

The aroma is dominated by a cascade-like (and maybe just Cascade? no info is given) hop, tangy sharp and earthy. That's what I get.

The hop is a very hearty and complex IPA, but verging on Pale Ale, much like the Harpoon "IPA" A beer that i really love, but is a small IPA at best, hop-wise. This one is an easy gulp, Balance of flavor's is good with a peppery- sharp but slightly bitter and tangy hop complexity that is really very note worthy. Low ABV. and big taste.

I held off on this one until it was almost the single last beer I had not tried yet that was available in my local area. glad I gave it shot!

I just got this in a recent trade with tone77 and since I just want to drink some beer right now, I just pulled this out of the reefer. The Justice League of America will be joining me shortly and I will feel justified in giving them some. What's that? Yes, I will now just shut up!

From the bottle: "Confused by the stories? Overwhelmed by the variety? Just plain thirsty? The Just Beer Project is a craft beer company with a mission to deliver world-class craft beers, expertly brewed, without all the complication. You just drink it, it tastes great. Just IPA."

My aggro pour created two fingers of rocky, tawny head with great retention. Color was an unexpectedly rich gold (SRM = > 5, < 7) and suddenly, the Three Stooges, Mammon, Croesus and King Midas were across from me, fighting for a taste. Once more, that privilege belongs to me! Clarity was button-bright. Nose smelled of grassy, almost minty hops, but I was put more in mind of tea. I really felt as though I were drinking tea with this one! It was very mellow in terms of its flavor and I began to feel very relaxed and sleepy. I have made hops tea before and this beer was very evocative of that experience. Finish was super smooth and still quite mellow. My my.

A: Poured from the growler into a Sam Smith's nonic. Body is clear honey-amber in color with a small whitish head.

S: Leafy and citrusy hops over caramel malt and toffee malt foundation. Hops are more dominant, but there is a nice malt base.

T: Follows the nose, with a crackery, biscuity foundation - with a touch of caramel malt - and then citrusy hops with a touch of pine needles and earthy spice. Reminds me of Founders' All Day IPA in a lot of ways. Finishes with a lemony bitterness that lingers on the aftertaste.

M: A bit flat, and thus some slickness. Medium in heft.

O: Good stuff at this price point (growler was $8.99) and for what it is supposed to be - i.e., a sessionable IPA.

enjoyed chilled in a tulip from the 12 oz brown bottle.
I am rating this more on the style of 'session iPA' since it falls somewhere between Pale ale and American IPA as listed.

The clarity is good with deep amber bordering on copper appearance with thick eggshell colored head with fine bead and lasting retention w/ thick lace on the glass. The smell is fragrant with pleasant herbal hop aroma and light fruity yeast ester more pine than citrus with a slight toasted malt scent. The feel is good with moderately high carbonation with medium bitterness and subtle sweetness with a mostly dry finish and low alcohol influence on the palate.

the taste is very good -of a substantially heavier beer, packed with hop flavors which even though they don't bring a distinct taste like grapefruit or another descriptor to mind they have a fresh floral/herbal flavor when combined with the malt provides a spicy and balanced flavor which brings you back for another taste with low enough abv to make a second bottle seem reasonable.I admit this is not the best 'American IPA, but for a hop forward, more session worthy beer it hits the style pretty dead-on...recommended if you like beers in the Session IPA realm.

Poured from growler into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a deeper golden color with two fingers of pure white head. The head has a good level of retention slowly fading over time to leave a moderate level of streaky lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell –The aroma is heaviest of a sweet citrus smell mixed with a little bit of a grainy smell. Other decently strong grapefruit hop smells and some earthy and herbal smells are there as well as some aromas consisting of a more caramel nature. In the end, the beer has a nice semi-sweet and diversely hopped aroma.

Taste –The taste begins with a lightly grainy and bready taste mixed with a bit of a hop taste of a citrus and earthy nature. A light caramel sweetness is present from the start with it fading more toward the middle, giving the brew a rather drier taste overall. The citrus hop loses it ground more toward the end being replaced by an earthy and herbal flavor. The malt, while light in the beginning also ends up becoming even weaker, in the end leaving a rather dry and earthy and herbal bitter flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is rather thin with a carbonation level that is rather average. A bit of a thicker body may have supported the hop flavors of the brew slightly better but at only 4.8 % abv overall the feel was rather appropriate.

Overall – While it is overall very light, the brew has rather nicely bitter earthy flavor. A bit more malt and sweetness could have supported the hop slightly better, but overall it was rather enjoyable.

Isn't talking about the pretense of craft beer pretentious? Just make a good beer. No need to yak on about it.

This seems about standard for an IPA on all aspects. Looks good. Nice nose. Good flavor profile Nice pine tones. It’s mostly resin really. Smooth feel. Easy enough to drink. I can dig it.

This is just what should be expected from this price point (about $13 a 12 pack). A very sessionable IPA with an alcohol content that won't knock you out(4.8abv). Don't expect a hop bomb/double IPA this is just a great beer to have around the fire or tailgate. This may be my go to session IPA.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Sampled on October 3, 2013. I hope I am reviewing the correct beer because the label lists this as a cooperative effort with Boston Beer Company.

It pours copper to yellow with a quick lasting white fizzy head. Good clarity.

Biscuit malts and floral hops are the main thing on the nose. The hops are a bit more predominant that the biscuit.

Medium and somewhat smooth body.

The taste also brings forth a biscuit note at first which is superseded by the floral and earthy hops for a reasonably balanced IPA. Nothing extraordinary here but drinkable.

Copper body clean fine carbonation, crystal clear filtered body. Node has mild floral and grapefruit tones, wit a pleasant bready quality. Crisp bitterness not much hop flavor some rough earthy floral tones. Mouthfeel is light to medium with a tad too much forced carbonation, a beer I'm glad I tried on tap before being suckered into a whole sixer!

Bottle > Pint Glass

A - Pours a gold color, nice two finger head, good thick lacing as well.
S - Some pine and lemon zest up front with caramel and biscuit malt in back, some slight undertones of tropical fruit.
T - The malt in this overpowers the hop flavors easily 2:1, but its still a very drinkable beer, more on the tart side then finishes drier with some biscuity flavor.
M - Dry and still somewhat chewy.
O - It is what it says it is, but for a session IPA, I'd like to see a better balance of hops to malt.

Poured from a bottle into a shaker pint, the beer is a slightly hazed, bright, golden-copper coloring, with a filmy, frothy, white head that has a decent cling and coats the surface of the beer and a steady flow of carbonation throughout the body. Aromas of tangy sweet caramel, toasted grains, pine tassels, resiny bitterness, and tart grapefruit highlights. Very well balanced nose. Flavors are resin bitter forward, with a light pepper spicing, followed by a backbone of subtle caramel and biscuit. Mango and grapefruit highlights provide sweet and tart to balance, with a bitter, slightly dry build into the resiny aftertaste. The beer is light and slightly effervescent in mouth. Dry, crisp finish made clean by the carbonation. Solid beer, and extremely easy to drink.

Guess this is the right beer. Mine says its from Cincinnati Ohio and clocks in at 4.8%. Google says its the right beer though http://www.justbeerproject.com/our-beers/ proves it...
A - Off to a great start a clear bright amber brown with good carbonation resulting in a 1/2 of head that pulls back to a nice bit of sticky lacing ring.
S - Smells of flowery and citrus hops. Mild malts but it's simple. Hope its not too bitter.
T - Well I read the site and it's accomplishes what they set out to do. Under 5% sessionable with a great hop to malt balance using local simple stuff. Agreed it is not overbearing with hops and in a way its a tasty brew.
M - Session able and easy to drink light to medium at most.

Well I was surprised I expected just another unbalanced, bland, bitter and unbalanced IPA but got a pretty well crafted brew. Can't wait to see what they put out but I love flavorful stout!

Actually impressed with this beer, I know they were pushing the hell out of it. Light to medium bodied with a piney and grapefruity bitter hop profile, finishes with a lingering toasted bread flavor. Simple but that's what they were going for, clean and sessionable. Simple but Pretty good
