$6 @ Driftwood, Plymouth MA

Dead on arrival gold with nary a follicle of foam. I'll blame a bad pour and give it a 3 on faith.

Smells fruity (white grape peel, golden pear, etc) but also very close to $2 a bottle champagne that my roomates in college used to drink. I believe it was called Sparkling Duck? Biscuit comes out as it warms.

Not as clean as I'd hope, tastes like white grape and golden pear with a mild swamp hop in back. It is crisp but the but the crispness is off. More like a juicy apple bite crisp than a dry, clean kolsch.

More sloppy golden ale and less subtle kolsch delicacy. (601 characters)

Straw colored and clear. Good starting head. While it settles to single layer of bubbles, it still leaves extensive lace.

Nearly no smell. Disappointing.

Good Kolsch flavor--lots pale grain. Slightly sour, but plenty raw grain. Reasonably rich. Mild hop kick. (263 characters)

Poured on-tap at The Tap, the beer was served in a nonic pint. Bright, yellow-gold coloring with a filmy, clingy, white surface coating of head. Nose of toasted grains and floral highlights, which remain subtle. Flavors are toasty and buttery, with hints of caramel and floral highlights, with a minimal hops bitterness at the end. More hoppy into the aftertaste, with the biscuit backbone holding steady. Slick, quick, slightly dry finish. Easy drinker. (454 characters)
