Our stout has been set free from the restraints of traditional style guidelines. It is a honey stout brewed with roasted malt and lactose for smoothness. Local honey from Crouse Farms gives it a light crispness with just a touch of sweetness. All this goodness make in a land flowing with milk and honey.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep reddish tinted amber color with a one finger head of off-white foam. The head has a great level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strong very strong of a lightly toasted bready aroma mixed with a decent showing of caramel and honey and a bit of chocolate. Along with these aromas comes a little bit of milkiness and vanilla as well as some light earth. For a golden stout, the smell was not nearly as roasted or chocolaty as I would have anticipated for the style, instead the aroma was much more strong or scotch ale.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter and more malty taste, with the sweet being mostly of a caramel and honey flavor while the malty is of a toasted bready flavor. Upfront there is also a little bit of a milk chocolate taste, which gains some intensity as the taste moves forward to the end. At the same time, a touch or dark fruit (plum and raisin) as well as some very light herbal tastes come to the tongue. With an increase in the honey sweetness at the end, one is left with a malty and sweeter taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is heavy in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather low. For the sweeter and malty tastes of the brew the feel is rather nice and allows for the rich sweet tastes to be well appreciated.
Overall – Not really a golden stout in my opinion, as it seems like it would be better characterized as a scotch ale or strong ale. Regardless the label however, it was a tasty and robust honey flavored brew none the less and is one to at least give a try to if you have the opportunity.

Brown hazy body, creamy off-white head and likewise with the visible lacing.
Smell is generally toasted malts, some oats and a faint breakfast flake type aroma.
Taste is bitter and somewhat sweet with honey notes, some sweet coffee-like make, then ending bitter, roasted, all in a rather muddled way.
Feels smooth and medium-bodied, and a bit wet & tangy from the way the lactose plays into the finish.
It’s a sweet enough honey stout, but the way the ingredients (roasted mats and lactose) interplay with one another falls short somehow. Can recommends pairing with grilled meats, chili or freedom. While the latter is always a given, I think this would drink better paired with a dish of the former.

Dark brown with mahogany hues. Head is tan and disappears extremely fast. No lacing whatsoever.
Hardly smells like anything. Maybe some faint toasted grains and a hint of coffee.
The taste picks up the beer a bit. Getting cream, chocolate, hints of coffee and a mild honey aftertaste. Although light.
Mouthfeel is a light and has moderate carbonation. Its ok.

Pours dark as coal. Head was tan, but went away quickly. Nose is of dark chocolate with a hint of honey. Taste is light chocolate, but the aftertaste gives way to a slight honey flavor. Nice beer!

Poured from a can into a tulip glass. Clear dark reddish brown with a brief beige head and decent lacing. Subdued smell, sort of sweet cola smell. Taste of dark toast with a bit of honey and some coffee. Not bad.

Looks like a brown ale, not much of a head when poured from the can into a pint glass. Smells sweet, tastes even sweeter. You can definitely taste the honey. Doesn’t feel as rich as I like stouts to feel, but in this beer’s defense, it isn’t a typical stout. Would be better with food. A little sweet for my taste to enjoy more than one by itself.
