Poured a 500-ml can into a pint glass - most of it, then topped up the rest.

Appearance - very pale golden colour with minimal head, really just surface bubbles.

Smell - decent hop aromas married to fresh apples and mashed wheat.

Taste - a slightly bitter start that gives way to a rush of barley malt and rich breads. Finishes pretty clean but I notice the alcohol in this beer, almost like it's separated from the taste.

Mouthfeel - the beer is smooth enough halfway through, but it's also got that annoying peppery carbonation at the front that I don't care for.

Drinkability - decent enough, but I wouldn't go out of my way to have another.

Presentation: 12oz European style green bottle. Freshness date clearly marked.

Appearance: Pale/straw yellow with a slight haze. Pours a foamy white patchy head that settles to a patchy sticky cream lace.

Smell: Delicate noble hops in the aroma with light notes of sulfur (that definitive import lager "skunk" smell), faint esters and sweet tea.

Taste: Light on the palate, yet there's a definite fullness to this brew which is pronounced by its creamy mouthfeel. A malt sweetness of dextrin blends with very faint aniseed and smooth lemon rind-like hop flavours that peak to a mildly crisp bite. Light grain and metallic notes are also present. Some interesting esters pull-thru and linger to the end along with some hops. The brew finishes slightly dry.

Notes: Found this at the bottom of the shelves at my local ghetto package store. Came in a 12-pack box. To my surprise Gösser turned out to be a very nice alternative (to the US norm) lager. Very enjoyable and flavourful. Great all around knock-em-back beer.

Pours very clean with a decent white head. Good hoppiness. Very crisp and clean tasting. Tends to be a little skunky. Light in body, but big in flavor. Goes down smooth and lingers with a spritzy lemon-like taste. Overall, I recommend this beer. Serve at a medium temperature. A good summer beer to drink outside.

(There are apparently two beers on BA named Goesser with identical pictures and all, so I'm going with this one because the brewery name is the same as on the can)

"Austria's Finest Beer." We shall see.

Poured into a lager glass. Medium golden, lots of visible carbonation. A 1/2 inch of foamy head quicky and completely dissolved. No lacing.

Nose is corn, white wine, hops, a bit of straw.

Not bad for a Euro lager. Slightly sweet, with a better than average malt character.

Medium body, decent carbonation, slightly creamy.

As far as Euro "umlaut" lager is concerned, this one ain't bad. I just really wish brewers would stop throwing around the "best beer" or "finest beer" moniker on their labels, cause this one sure isn't. Still, a highly drinkable lager, and a decent summer brew.

Clear and pale yellow color, decent 1/2 inch head of foam. Partial comma-like lacing in a standard pint glass. Acidic aroma, slight sufur skunk, and a sense of hops somewhat like milkweed. Light body, a bit too overcarbonated for my tastes. Malts are straightforward, slight skunk and a tea-like hop impression balance adequately and dry the finish somewhat. Not awful or great, could be an OK session brew...

Pretty thin and horrible, too fizzy aswell. Yellow appearance, with fizzy mineral water head, no aroma, and pretty close to noe flavour, perhaps a bit of malt in there, but too bland in my books.

A very pale straw gold and crystal clear. 2-3 fingers of quickly diminishing head leaving no lace behind.

Grainy cereal aroma and grassy hops, both very faint. This almost doesn't have a scent, it's so tame.

Tastes faintly of grassy hops, mild bitterness, cereal, and an unpleasant acidity.

Light bodied with spritzy carbonation. Thin and watery. It's not a drain pour, but I wont be having it again.

A - A three finger snow white head graces the top of this golden brew, and a good amount of wet lace is left on the glass. the head shows good retention, and it gets rocky on it's way down to a finger cap. Looks pretty good!

S - I thought that this was a German pils when I bought it, and now I see (rather, smell) why it isn't one. This is more malty and less hoppy on the nose than a pils, and the lack of Saaz spice is what makes the distinction apparent. This isn't very assertive, but it smells very fresh and clean, like a Springtime thunderstorm.

T - This is not bad, just boring. It's lightly fruity and a bit sharp, but there isn't much going on. Like the nose, it is very fresh and clean on the palate, and I gotta give it points for that.

M - This is light bodied without being watery, and the prickly carbonation and dry finish make this a very refreshing brew.

D - Not bad at all. Could be a very nice session lager, or a good beer to woo your BMC friends away from the macro crap lagers that are prevalent in the states. Euro lagers are never really mind blowing, but they are light years ahead of our domestic shit-lagers.

Pours a pale golden color topped by a small, tight white head that dissipates after only a few minutes. Aroma of slightly skunked adjunct malt is evident as soon as the cap is popped - light notes of moderately bitter pops and pilsner malt, but mainly skunk. Palate is a balance between mildly sweet adjunct malt and some slightly skunked hops. Mouthfeel is typical of a Euro lager - light and a touch creamy. I suppose I could put a few of these back, but it's not exactly a memorable experience.

12oz bottle

A- Pours a pale golden yellow color with a white colored head that leaves sporadic lacing around the glass.

S- The aroma definitely has that familiar skunked smell from a lot of imported lagers in green bottles with some sulfer with some grain and hints of spicy hops.

T- The taste like the aroma is light bodied with some malt and some mildly crisp hops at the finish.

M- The mouthfeel is light bodied with a decent creaminess that adds to the body a little bit.

D- This is an interesting enough beer that would be pretty easy to throw a few of them back in one session. This is definitely a little more interesting than your average Euro Lager, but not something that I would go out and purchase again. Worth a try

I loved the attractive bottle on this beer;

this had me thinking pale eurolager all teh way; mine was not skunked, it was chilled. Immediately you notice the fullness of rich creamy malt. the clean palate was and the subtle bitter grainy after taste.

I was quite impressed, if this is the beer of austria, it can't be so bad!

Gosser: This is an Austrian import that seems very popular in my area, and is virtually always on sale. It is sold in green bottles, and has a similar aroma to other Euro-lagers, with that faint skunk aroma. However, the taste is much lighter and refreshing than a Heineken, for example, and went down very, very well. This is a smooth beer that is worth a look.

Pours a pale straw color with a nice and fluffy white head that so far has left a wall of lacing on the glass. The smell is faint and grainy, has that Euro green bottle skunk smell. The taste is of light grassy noble hops, grainy malt, and a metallic skunk taste. The feel is watery and dull, doesn't really have that crisp taste of a lager. A typical Euro lager sample probably a notch above the mainstream Euro lagers. Easy drinking, good for summer weather.

This is a delicate style that a brewer either nails . . . or absolutely fails at.

In the case of Goesser, I would say that they failed. Grolsch and Carlsberg manage to put their own little spin on the Euro-lager style, adding that extra edge that makes them wonderfully drinkable. And let's not get started at how the Germans and Czechs do lighter beers.

So . . . what is good about this beer? Well, it is delicate and drinkable. It lacks many of the flaws that I see in American macro-lagers, while still trying to be as close to water as possible.

Poured into Blue-branded pilsner glass. Poured a massive-thick head that vanished within a couple of minutes. Some lacing on the glass as I drink. Looks much like a Labatt Blue, but this is where the similarities end...

Smell is above average, with a huge hops presence and some wheat.

Taste is spectacular. Smooth...delicate even. A lot of hop bitterness, but very well balanced. Little aftertaste, which is impressive for a European lager. Delicious!

Mouthfeel is carbonated, but this is to be expected considering the style of beer. Very smooth and clean.

Drinkability is awesome. Sip it, chug it, whatever...this beer will accomodate any drinking style.

Being a fan of darker, fuller-bodied beers, I've been reluctant to try new lagers recently. This one has opened my eyes to what a lager should be. Interesting, light hearted... but not boring. Smell and taste are both refreshing, to say the least. It's a perfect summer beer.

It paired perfectly with some delicious homemade cheesy bread. I imagine it would be great with almost any other food. I would recommend this beer to anyone I know, as it far exceeded my expectations.
