Since this place sold in 2022, the selection and quality took a nosedive. I no longer bother stopping in, and no longer follow their Instagram. They have some local can IPAs, but that is about it.

Cask n Flask is always on my go-to list. The owner is a pleasure to be around and discuss beer with. She is not only knowledgable about her beers but keeps tons in stock. Almost every brewery you could want is represented and then some. The prices are pretty standard (aged stuff has quite a premium as well as producers like Cantillon, though). Re-selling Westy 12 isn't exactly the most ethical thing but how else are the rest of us supposed to try it? You can't blame the shop for the not-so-reputable clientele there for a 30 pack of cheap lager, cheap whiskey or lotto tickets (hey, you have to make money somehow and craft beer is only a portion of a living).
I always look forward to my extended drive to visit C&F.

Don't let the appearance fool you, this is one of the best places in San Jose to get high quality and rare craft beer. Their prices are a bit iffy at times, but just be aware of what you're getting and the normal prices and you can do just fine. They get some stuff that almost nowhere else gets, so be sure to scan the full lineup there. Sometimes they have stuff behind the counter, so be sure to ask.

They have a great selection of brews. I've found Pliny, Cantillon, Westy 12, Prarie, and other sought-after delights!

In South San Jose, this is one of the best places around. Looks a little dingy from the outside but I never felt unsafe. Good all around selection. I've bought Sucaba and Black Tuesday from there recently. Prices marked up $1-3 or so.

This is a corner liquor store in a run-down strip mall storefront in older San Jose.
Pretty wide selection of craft, from new locals like Santa Clara Valley Brewing to distributed things like Boulevard, Prairie, Dogfish Head. Most beers are refrigerated.
Prices run $1 to $2 higher than everywhere else. They seem to have a Bruery Reserve membership, so they put out things like Melange No. 3 ($35), Sans Pangaie, etc. I was surprised to see Bois for $35 since it's $30 everywhere else.
They have a beermenus listing, but it's not super-accurate: a lot of things they claim to have, have actually been sold out for a while. And prices can be understated on there. The people that run the store don't really seem to know what they're selling, except they'll tell you ____ is rare, in a clear attempt to upsell.
Expensive, a little shady... But it's something; for a long time, San Jose had nothing.
