Probably our single most requested beer in the tasting room. The chocolate & coffee of Black House makes an awesome base for intemperate quantities of coconut & cocoa nibs, which make the whole thing taste like a ridiculously decadent chocolate bar, but drier and more like beer.

September 8th, 2015 - Enjoyed at Toronado for the special Modern Times tap takeover. Heavy soy sauce and teriyaki on the nose. Burnt tips, malt and pine tree bark. I don't catch coconut at first, but if I imagine it when I smell it, I can see some of the toasted coconut appear. But mostly I get those beef jerky smells. Taste is interesting. Starts soft and tentative at first, almost like I'm about to get a burst of a chili beer. The palate is soft and foamy, too, which contributes to it a little bit. But around the middle of the taste the flavor suddenly buckles down, almost jarringly, and turns into a soft stout. Almost like an oatmeal stout, which a deeo sweetness, and there the coconut appears. It's light, much lighter than most beers with a coconut element, but I like the subtlety as a change of pace. Good brew. As for the cacao nibs? They're there, and provide that base of pitch black dark chocolate sweetness.

Decent, light, and crushable. On the light side for a stout, but smooth and drinkable. I got the coffee and chocolate notes, but did not get the coconut notes though...

Appearance - Pours black with a tight thick tan head. Lost of lacing.
Aroma - Coffee and cocoa up front with hints of vanilla and roasted malts. I am not getting much coconut.
Taste - The taste is similar to the aroma lots of coffee and roasted malts along with cocoa but the coconut is very mild if I can even find it.
Feel - Thick creamy feel as is with a nitro beer. Slightly dry bitter finish.
Overall - Just being rated as a coffee stout it is very good not getting much coconut anywhere.
