Poured into a standard snifter.
L: pitch black with a cinnamon colored head
S: barrel and coffee competed a bit. One of the few MT beers where the taste delivered more than the smell (rather than going hand in hand)
T: Enjoyed the barrel quite a bit - crisp and spicy where the bourbon went warm and vanilla but the coffee was a bit out of whack with the barrel. However, got much better, and more in tune, as it warmed.
F: standard feel for MT MP - really nice.
O: What a nice, unique beer. While I enjoyed others in the series slightly more - that is not to knock this delicious beer.

Bottle served in a tulip. Pours a opaque brown with a tan head. There is some residual lacing on the glass. Smell is rum and coffee. Taste has rum, coffee, roast coffee and deep, dark chocolate. The double dose of rum barrels must give it that bit of sweetness on the finish. Awesome beer.

Served in a Teku glass.
Pours a dark brown, with a beautiful dark khaki head. Honestly, the best looking beer I have ever seen. Nose is a nice rum sweetness, with a good amount of fresh coffee bean, similar to City of the Dead. Taste starts with fresh coffee bean, as well as roasted coffee. As it warms I get a lot more chocolate/fudge. Decent rum alcohol burn on the finish that intensifies as it comes to room temp, but not in a bad way. A bit earthy and sweet. A bit light bodied for a beer of this caliber and a good amount of carbonation. Overall, an excellent and unique beer that is like no other. If you loved City of the Dead this is a must try.

A beast thanks to rudzud.
Pours thick creamy, fizzy like, touch of lacing, long legs, pitch black thick color.
Nose is like mind blowing, very different, a big rum and candy sugar rum, with a crazy south American coffee, rummy Jamaican coffee, sweet boot strap molasses, little fudge and cocoa, fluffy nougat and marshmallow, earthy root like coffee thing, back end a butterscotch caramel thing, touch toasty barrel.
Taste starts with fluffy caramel, lots of cocoa and fluffy fudgey cocoa, etc, into earthy mild nutty like coffee, nice south American earthy coffee, fudgey cocoa and nice fresh earthy coffee with mild roast, an earthy spicy like hop, fudgey cocoa coffee. Mild rum, molasses brown sugar candy rum, little vanilla toasty barrel. Lots of bitter roasted coffee. Finish leaves bitter roasted coffee grinds little acrid, mild rum, mild barrel, sticky and syrupy rum.
Mouth is med to fuller bod, little creamy fudgey, decent but lighter carb, no real booze.
Overall nice, little too bitter roasted coffee, decent coffee at times, decent rum at times, etc.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark brown almost black with a nice fat mocha head that fades to leave thin blanket and thick halo.
S - Aromas of rum rum rum. Great rum notes, lightly sweetness. The coffee is very great, thick molasses. The barrel sweetness is good, rum is really rich. Nice chocolate, butterscotch, toasty barrel. Really complex.
T - Taste is similar to the nose, nice sweet rum, good rich rum. Nice coffee notes, lightly fruity beans, light vanilla. The coffee is acrid and bitter, which clashes with the rum. Nice fudge notes, good sweet rum barrels.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, creamy, alcohol hidden well but still rum soaked.
O - Overall this beer was really rich, loads of rum. The coffee is rather acrid, still, the chocolate and rum is quite nice.
