A: There was a three finger off-white head with an aggressive pour. The head quickly recedes to a film which leaves some nice lacing. The brew is a nice medium amber color. Modern Times probably has one of the best label designs in the business.

S: A very nice blend of hops with lemon and grapefruit citrus, herbal tones in which the Nelson, Simcoe, and Mosaic work together very nicely. There is some biscuit coming through.

T: Less flavorful than the nose. It is herbal and dry. While the taste is similar to the nose, the citrus notes are much more muted on the taste. The taste is less interesting than the nose.

M: Medium to light medium with complimentary carbonation.

O: Nicely balanced and I could definitely enjoy a couple of these.

Glass Used: Nonic

Appearance: Reddish copper body with a bone white head that held the consistency of whipped stiff egg whites. Very effervescent.

Smell: Nostrils fill with bursts of citrus & pine, then by a huge load of dank and green onion. One whiff of this, I new Nelson Sauvin hops were used (thanks TG's Zeelander) but in moderation. Sweet malt shines through as well, supporting the other hop aromas.

Taste: Having had a couple of beers that have used only Mosaic or Nelson hops, those flavors really pop for me. Citrus, fruity and dank. Lots of dank here. Bready malts are there again, supporting his hoppy friends. A slight bitterness lingers around well after the finish. Very tasty.

Mouthfeel: A slight bit of stickiness finishing dry. Well carbonated.

Overall: I feel the Nelson hop needs to be used very judiciously due to it strong flavor profile. Modern Times has done so here. This is a very well balanced, well hopped red amber that I would love to have again. Loved this one.

A: Nice light amber, almost copper. Clear with a very nice thick head that lingers around.

S: Very appealing a lot of pine and some dankness to go with a faint fruity mango and grapefruit.

T: Slight pine and dankness upfront with some resemblance of the pale chocolate. Love that this is an amber ale that isn't so caramel sweet. You get the hops in there nicely and balance with the bready backbone.

M: Some bitterness but not even harsh. Really easy to drink and crisp.

O: I think this easily go to the top of my top Amber Ale beers. A lot of hop flavor and aroma and not all that tongue coating caramel.

I love this beer. However, I dont at all understand why they call this a hoppy-dank-amber. Its not amber. They even go ahead and list the SRM on the can. Its 9, which is not even close to being an amber! I dont get it. Anyway, Im rating this as an IPA because if I rated it as an amber I would have a much lower appearance score. So, as an IPA here goes:

A: Golden dankness with dank head and dank retention. :0

S: Dank, resinous hops and citrus. Oily and dank.

T: Oily, citrusy, heavy. Some woukd say its dank

M: Full bodied. Really nice.

O: Its a great IPA.

Grabbed a can to see how "hoppy" and "dank" it really was...

Poured a nice golden color with a little sticky head. The head quickly receded back into the beer.

Blazing World has a good smell to it. Not too overpowering but definitely gives its presence.

Taste and mouthfeel are solid. You taste hops mixed with a slight malt finish. I'm not a big malty guy yet it's not overpowering. Herbal hop flavors finish it off, leaving a nice little lingering taste of caramel and citrus.

Simply put, I dig it. I'll definitely grab this out of the fridge mid week to not overpower my palate with heavier IPA and IIPA's I usually look to drink.

If you're looking for a solid beer to grill to, sit around the pool, or watch a ball game, this will satisfy without putting you on your caboose.
