It’s so great that you like coffee. I just love that about you. Speaking of which, you’re holding an oatmeal coffee stout positively redolent with coffee aroma and flavor. It kind of tastes like a chocolate-covered espresso bean, only drier and more like beer. Nifty fact: we’re one of the only breweries in the world to roast our own coffee, which allows us to be extremely persnickety about which beans we buy and how we roast them. Taste the persnicketiness!

A promising stout that falls flat at the finish and just doesn't have the body it deserves. Great coffee flavour and not too bitter. Could be perfect as a coconut stout to round it out.

16oz can
date stamped 05/20/21 (oops - usually I check dates before buying - at least this was kept cold in a can for the past year)
L: black bodied stout with a tan head
S: coffee, roast, grain, cocoa, earthy hops
T: roasted barley and roasted coffee beans, caramelized grain, toast, oats, cocoa, tobacco leaf, earthy hops
F: medium-to-full body, ample carbonation, dry finish with coffee and roast lingering
O: coffee stout is one of my favorite “sub-styles”. This is a good one!

Super tasty coffee oatmeal stout. Easy drinking with strong flavors. Good for a June gloom day at their brewery.

Look: Jet black on the pour and in the glass with a bold and quick-forming light brown head that holds and slowly settles, leaving great lacing behind
Aroma: Cold brewed coffee, dark chocolate, roast, fresh baked brown bread, earthiness, and toasted bread
Taste: Dark chocolate and roast come on strong and hold as a huge coffee punch comes into the mix and blends nicely. Waves of toast and fresh baked bread crash in and a steady earthy note presents itself as well before roast, chocolate, and coffee regain traction and lead to the close
Mouthfeel: Full, very smooth, medium-high carbonation, and a slightly smooth but also slightly robust finish
Overall: This is tasty stuff. I’ve always liked this beer but it had been a while since I had it so made the point to revisit and it has again put itself into the top tier of coffee stouts for me. Lots of roast and coffee throughout but never a hint of harshness, sharpness, nor burnt notes at all. Smooth, deep, and delicious. Recommended
