Notes & Commercial Description:

Fortunate Islands shares the characteristics of an uber-hoppy IPA and an easy drinking wheat beer. A massive dose of Citra and Amarillo hops gives it a blastwave of tropical hop aromatics: mango, tangerine, and passionfruit all leap out of the glass. Brewed with 60% wheat malt, Fortunate Islands also has the mild, nutty malt backbone, reasonable ABV, and restrained bitterness to make it an outstanding session beer.

16oz can from j47paco (only one of an incredible array of extras!). Canned 4/4/14. Served in a goblet.

Pours a hazy orange gold with two fingers of fluffy white head. Decent retention and some sizeable clumps of lace.

Lots of tropical fruit on the nose. Mandarin, peaches and a faint sweet caramel.

The taste is full of the tropical hop goodness detected in the aromas. Oranges, pineapple, peach, guava, passion fruit, honey, mild pine, wheat cracker and a little sugar. Super flavorful without being overly bitter, this is so freaking easy to drink.

Smooth, medium feel with moderate carbonation. Crisp finish with more of those nice tropical citrus hops and a wheaty sweetness.

American pale wheat ales have never been a go-to style for me but this is perhaps my favorite example so far (dethroning Gumballhead). Smooth, delicious and one of the easiest drinking beers I've ever had. I'm really looking forward to cracking open the other cans of Modern Times that I just received. Try this if you can.

16oz can.

A: a bright golden pour. Decent head.

S: tropical fruits like pineapple, not super strong but the smell meets the description on thecan of tropical.

T: tropical fruits, some malt. Tart finish almost. Really tasty.

M: crisp, clean finish. Thick feel.

O: while wheat beers are what got me into craft they have fallen out of my favor as I explored new styles, but this is awesome. This is a wheat bet beer that I look forward to. It's really great.
