Red ales are growing on me. I believe this one is a holiday special edition seasonal. The spice taste is relatively mild, however, and it has a bit of hop to satisfy hopheads like me.

I hate to say this, but this holiday beer is everything that's wrong with craft beer in one package with a Christmas bow on top. No discernible barley flavor; basically a very strong hop tea that tastes like grapefruit juice without the satisfying sour after taste. Accidentally trying this beer around the holidays swore me off of this local brewery.

Pours a rusty amber with a nice dark tan head and decent legs that linger well. A malt forward nose is complimented with a little hint of spice and, ironically enough, cut grass. On the pallet this beer isn’t particularly festive, but is still an easy drinker with a bread crust start followed by some light lemon citrus that finish with a slight pine bitterness. As others have stated this beer is reminiscent of a hoppier Octoberfest beer and outside of its color isn’t indicative of a holiday ale. A solid drinker with a light drying mouthfeel that could probably be enjoyed year round.

12 oz can poured into a shaker pint. For a Christmas season beer it wasn’t particularly festive. Maybe I should have slipped into my robe and slippers, melted into the recliner, lit up some pipe tobacco, and spun some Bing disks. Next time.

Body puts an opaque dark brown with nice fluffy initial head. Good lacing throughout the tasting.

Aroma is a mix of malt, fruit, and light spice. Taste follows nose and the piney hops provide a nice bite. Swallow dries up nicely with a light lingering bitterness. If allowed to warm, the hop bite softens (but the finishing hops still do their job) and the biscuit malty flavor steps up.

Pleasant mouthfeel with good carbonation.

12 oz. can, canned on 09/26/22 THAT MINIVAN LIFE according to the bottom of the can. My second review of a beer from Rhinegeist Brewery. "Hoppy Holiday Ale" per the can.

Poured to Camp Crystal Lake stemless wine snifter.
Pours a coppery amber body with a finger of frothy, soapy, khaki-tan head. Head has good staying power & leaves some good spotty lacing. Looks super fresh & appealing.
Aroma is super fresh, fruity, & floral - tons of berry flavors, earthy hops, grasses, flowers. Mosaic hops? This thing smells super fresh & floral, way more than you would expect based on the dark color. Notes of brown bread & bread crust do come forth.
Super delicious: toasty & nutty, with lots of brown breadiness and bread crust up front. Earthy, herbal, grassy hop presence - slightly piney / bitter, but not overly resinous, dry, or lingering. The hops know their role here and they play it well. It almost reminds me of an Oktoberfest in many ways. Is there lager yeast involved here also?
Feel is super smooth, crisp, & easy-drinking. Lightly bitter & dry in the finish, beckons the palate for more.
Overall, an excellent holiday ale from Rhinegeist, although as I said, possibly a bit more Oktoberfest-ish than it is your classic hoppy Red / Amber ale.

I am a Rhinegeist fan. This is a delicious red ale. The pair of Chinook and El Dorado hops, provides a clean and satisfying palate. The 48 IBU and 6% ABV, creates a delicious ale with a nice kick.

Poured from a can into a tulip. Pours deep red with a fluffy off white head. Smells of floral and citrus hops. Tastes of caramelized grain with citrus and grassy hops. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Starting to not really be super enthralled with thus brewery. This is the same concept as their "oktoberfest" but it's just a more hoppy red ale. While I thought the "oktoberfest" was decent for what it was this is just completely forgettable and boring. Not dialed in, not having again.
