Rare are moments of truth, when you've struck the last match, belting out tunes with your friends, staring deep into the campfire-times when you feel infinite. Our truth is found in the scintillating brilliance of hops. Brewed with a nod to the pacific, hops sizzle with tropical fruit aroma, grapefruit & mango notes and a dry finish.

Solid if not spectacular IPA. A bit more east-coast style than west-coast.

Almost perfectly clear amber. Decent lacing on the glass. Lots of resin and pine. Consistent and well brewed. I like it.

This is a very good IPA, perhaps the best of all beers by this brewer, and likely the best IPA by any brewer in Cincinnati (a close call between it and MadTree's Psychopathy). A great go-to beer!!

Poured into a snifter.

4.5 A: Clear dark orange color. Two fingers of frothy off-white head. Retention is good and lots of lacing is left.

3.75 S: Citrusy hops with large portions of orange and mango. Pineapple underneath. Malt gives a strong caramel and just a touch of breadiness.

3.5 T: Like the nose, orange, mango, and pineapple hop flavor. Moderate bitterness. Caramel and bready malts.

3.5 M: Lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Lightly creamy.

3.5 D: Good beer without any real faults.

poured 12oz can into snifter. Canned 12/18/14

A - Hazy dark orange with a 2.5 finger foamy white head. Thick collar and partial cap with a heavy amount of webbed lacing.

S - Big amount of citrus, floral hops and pine. Some caramel sweet malt mixed in.

T - Hops are dominant with citrus (orange and grapefruit), floral aromas, and piney resinous notes. Nice amount of sweet malts really balance everything out. Finish is mostly bitter pine hops.

M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Oily with some dryness on the palate.

O - Pretty solid IPA from Cinci, OH.

Can from 12/04/14. Light copper in color with a beautiful head. Huge hop burst in the nose. Bold citrus aroma. Medium mouthfeel with hops taking the forefront. Light biscuity notes with pine, grapefruit and mango. This is Southwest Ohio's version of a west coast IPA and it is done well. Leaves the palate wanting another sip. Clean yeast profile with piney resin left on the tongue. Beautifully done. 7.2% goes over well but sneaks up on you.

Simply the best IPA I have ever tasted. Smooth yet bitter. Nice floral grapefruit scent with a light citrus finish and plenty of hoppiness.

Aroma is resiny, tropical fruity, dank, and piney. Mango, body odor, and a touch of onion are evident.

Flavor is pretty bitter, but the tropical fruit sweetness counters. The finish is a bit biting and carbonic.

The fruity flavoring hops pale in comparison to the bittering hops. Not my style of ipa.

Poured from a can into a Brooklyn Brewery snifter. The beer is hazy and light amber in color and sports an impressive 2 fingers of coarse white foam. Good retention and nice clumpy lacing. Very hop-forward nose (obviously).

Medium-light body and dry flavor through and through. Very sharply bitter and a bit out of balance, but still very tasty. I get some citrus notes, but also some herbal, woody, grassy notes as well. Cedary, quinine-like bitterness could use a bit more malt to balance it out and improve the feel.

A good local brew that I'm glad I have access to, but not what I would consider top-shelf. Because I can get it so fresh, I'm sure I'll buy it again and my appreciation will likely improve over time.

Wow. I've been around - as far as IPA's are concerned - and this one will remain in my memory. The first word that comes to mind is RAW. As in untamed, bold, brash - even a bit presumptuous.

Smooth at first, strong alcohol kick, bitter aftertaste that teeters on the edge of pleasant and offensive. Think of this as Ballast Point's Sculpin - but the troublemaker cousin that had some run-ins with the cops and just finished the sleeve on his left arm.

Well worth picking up if you have the chance. Unrefined. Unapologetic. And a heck of an experience.

Did I mention the BEAUTIFUL amber coloring and the perfect balance of carbonation? - just go pick it up.

This is a strong hoppy IPA. It is as strong and aroma filled as ANY beer in the Cincinnati area. Unfortunately I have only had it out of the can ( why no bottles? ) It is also available on tap or in growlers at the brewery. As IPA's go, this one is right in line with the best in the style....you can walk into the room and know someone has opened a Truth. Strong taste and clean mouthful on first drink and a strong and bitter linger afterword....but still pleasant. I am not an IPA person unless I am just having a beer. ..the strong flavor overtakes food for me so I usually drink lighter when having dinner. This is a GREAT IPA though and when I am just having a beer or two, this is the one to enjoy!

Poured into a Haw River Farmhouse Ales teku glass. No freshness date.

A- Pours a medium amber color with a 3/4 inch off-white head that retains very well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of surface foam. Resilient sheet of lacing clings to the glass.

S- Piney, somewhat citrusy hop aroma that's backed by a good amount of cereal grain malt sweetness. Slightly musty.

T- Very balanced flavor of juicy hops and sweet malt. It's almost so balanced, I would think it's more of a straight pale ale than IPA. The bitterness starts to really creep in and let itself be known as multiple sips are taken. The alcohol is very well-hidden and there's a hint of soily yeast in the aftertaste.

M- Somewhat zesty with a trailing hop bite. Medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the fuller side.

O- Really good stuff. Will look out for more offerings from these guys in the future when available. Supremely drinkable given the ABV. I would almost put it up there with the ranks of Jai Alai, Flower Power and Head Hunter. Just a very well-made IPA that teeters between single and double.

Of all the beers my brewing buddy Bob brought back from his trip to Ohio, this was my favorite. BIG fruit hop nose! BIG flavor palette including pineapple and mango. A hint of honey, and even a little wheat, nice. Excellent bitterness to offset all the fruit. Refreshing, well crafted, and above all original.

on tap at barrels and bottles in golden, which is a very cool place with a real solid beer program, definitely check it out if you havent. i have never heard of rhinegeist, so this was cool. a big sturdy ipa thats real well balanced and real refreshing and clean. the hops have a light fruity complexion and a lot of bite, but they are really fresh and are supported by a neat malt base that has some toasted flavor as well as a touch of spice that may come from some rye in here. full bodied and creamy feeling, but carbonated really well. bitterness is above average but not over the top, and the hops are really fresh and well dosed. i get the high alpha west coast thing, but there is no oily texture to this, its clean and delicate for its alcohol strength. an ipa i could sit down and spend an afternoon with. my first beer from these guys is excellent. refreshing too for its size. looking forward to trying more of their stuff.

Overall not a bad West Coast IPA, Really enjoyed both in the can and on tap. Easily the best this small brewery has to offer.

Deep gold with touches of orange throughout. An off-white head leaves minimal lacing. A medium bodied, bitter, dry and well carbonated hop bomb with an array of fruity flavors - grapefruit, pineapple, mango and peaches - softened by pale maltiness, dried grass, and pine, and with a bread crust in the finish. One of my favorite American IPAs, so thankfully, the brewery is within a short walk from my downtown office. (7.2% ABV)

Mango. Mango. Mango. Can't believe I can just walk and pick up a sixer of this for $9.99 anytime I want. I'm worried the beer snobs will descend soon and snatch everything in sight similar to 3F. Until then....

12 FL OZ can
Served in a snifter

A - Truth pours deep gold to amber in color and is clear. It is topped with an inch of off-white head.

S - I get the obligatory citrus smell with tangerine standing out. I also get some grapefruit, mango, and pine.

T - The taste is loaded with citrus. It starts out with mango and orange, Then it gives way to grapefruit before finishing with pine.

M - Medium and well carbonated.

O - I am growing to like this beer a lot. I first had it at the brewpub. Then I had it at the Great American Ballpark and Horseshoe Casino. Now I can't get enough of it, and I live in north central Ohio where it is not distributed. I hope they make it here soon.

Beer came in a trade with BA pkthebuckeye. Poured into a pint glass.

A&S: Lively transparent light copper colored beer. Head is fizzy and off white in color. The head doesn't retain very well and leaves spots of lacing. Not getting a ton of grapefruit citrus, but as the can advertises the aroma is full of tropical fruits (mango, kiwi, and pineapple).

T&M: Similar to the aroma you get tropical favors upfront, then citrus midway through the taste. The heaviness of the palate doesn't make it super drinkable, but a good bitterness punch at the end. Carbonation is on the low end of medium, and body is medium, a bit watery.

Overall: Good IPA, glad it was part of the package. Look forward to trying some of the other Cinci stuff.
