Rare are moments of truth, when you've struck the last match, belting out tunes with your friends, staring deep into the campfire-times when you feel infinite. Our truth is found in the scintillating brilliance of hops. Brewed with a nod to the pacific, hops sizzle with tropical fruit aroma, grapefruit & mango notes and a dry finish.

Mango. Mango. Mango. Can't believe I can just walk and pick up a sixer of this for $9.99 anytime I want. I'm worried the beer snobs will descend soon and snatch everything in sight similar to 3F. Until then.... (211 characters)

The Rhinegeist IPA is the flagship of this new brewery. It is by far their best beer and I would consider it to be the best IPA of Cincinnati. It is light in color, but full in flavor. It has a delicious fortaste as the beer hits your mouth and leaves a delicious aftertaste as well. The brewery is located in Over the Rhine near Findlay Market. Everyone should visit this establishment to soak up the atmosphere. (413 characters)

Got my Growler filled at Jungle Jim's.
Poured a golden ruby color with a light head, this is the only flaw to the beer! A light head and carbination. Lacing dripps slowly down the glass.
Smell - Friggen Hoptastic! I hope hoptasic is a new word. So it is a slightly sweet smelling citrus hop. Some pine notes. You smell it with every sip!!
Taste, just plain wonderful. Tounge gets overwhelmed with a hop bombardment very good! Doesn't taste too overpowering on the hops. Hops don't leave that bitter Linger, finishes dry and extremly smooth.
Mouthfeel- full and rich, light carbination.
Overall- This is one of the best IPA's I have tasted! I may have said that before but this is a very high ranking brew. I think it ranks above Fat Head, 90 minute and those are dang good ipas. I really wanted to give this a 5 overall because it is that good but with my experience in ratings I have learned there are many fine beers out there but this ranks #1 inmy American IPA catagory. (975 characters)

On tap, July 6 at Rhinegeist.

The pour was golden/copper with nice white head.

The smell makes me think Citra hops, as a bit of cat piss comes to mind. Those notes are combined with a bit of pine resin and bitter citrus essential oil notes.

The taste is the money on this beer. Again, I think Citra comes through. Great malt backbone for a very balanced hop profile of bitter citrus oils, light pine resin and light tropical fruit. There is great restraint in this beer. That hop flavor was still with me 15 minutes after leaving the tasting room, and it was still very pleasant.

The mouthfeel was spot on. Perfect carbonation and body for an IPA.

Overall, this IPA drinks with the best of them. I will be returning to Rhinegeist many times for this beer alone. (779 characters)

Pours somewhere between golden and copper in color. Frothy head. Piney, resiny aroma. Somewhat citrusy nose also. The citrus comes out in the flavor a bit more than its smell. This is a very hoppy, citrusy, herbal, rustic, and nearly intense, style american IPA. In fact, its one of the best IPA's right now I can think of. (332 characters)

This is a strong hoppy IPA. It is as strong and aroma filled as ANY beer in the Cincinnati area. Unfortunately I have only had it out of the can ( why no bottles? ) It is also available on tap or in growlers at the brewery. As IPA's go, this one is right in line with the best in the style....you can walk into the room and know someone has opened a Truth. Strong taste and clean mouthful on first drink and a strong and bitter linger afterword....but still pleasant. I am not an IPA person unless I am just having a beer. ..the strong flavor overtakes food for me so I usually drink lighter when having dinner. This is a GREAT IPA though and when I am just having a beer or two, this is the one to enjoy! (712 characters)

Had on tap in a pint glass.

Pours a clear medium amber with a small white head. No lacing.

Aroma is very fruity with lots of tropical citrus along with just a touch of dankness. Very intense aroma.

This hop intensity carries over into the flavor. It is extremely juicy with pineapple and mango but a touch of that earthy dankness manages to hang around. Not much malt is detectable as it is basically all hops. Very high bitterness and a dry mouthfeel.

This is an extremely well done IPA. Glad I got the chance to try this one and I will be on the lookout for it in the future. (581 characters)

Wow. I've been around - as far as IPA's are concerned - and this one will remain in my memory. The first word that comes to mind is RAW. As in untamed, bold, brash - even a bit presumptuous.

Smooth at first, strong alcohol kick, bitter aftertaste that teeters on the edge of pleasant and offensive. Think of this as Ballast Point's Sculpin - but the troublemaker cousin that had some run-ins with the cops and just finished the sleeve on his left arm.

Well worth picking up if you have the chance. Unrefined. Unapologetic. And a heck of an experience.

Did I mention the BEAUTIFUL amber coloring and the perfect balance of carbonation? - just go pick it up. (663 characters)

Poured from a 32 oz growler into a standard pint glass. Growler was filled on 5/31/14, and filled very well. Reviewed 24 hours after fill. Appears a clear golden color, with touches of orange throughout. Has an off-white head, that leaves minimal lacing.

Nose is full of tropical fruits, with mango and pineapple sticking out, as well as a good citrus presence, with grapefruit and orange notes. There's a touch of caramel sweetness in the aroma as well. The taste follows this, with the topical fruits and citrus coming through up front, followed by a touch of the malt sweetness, which is then quickly overtaken by the citrus in the finish, with a lasting bitterness, that goes down nicely.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with average carbonation levels. Finish is right where it should be, not too dry, and makes it easy to drink. Overall, this is another great IPA coming out of Ohio. The tropical fruits and citrus are the stars here, and it is very enjoyable. (968 characters)

12 oz can into a snifter. Clear amber with loads of carbonation. A 2 finger head of sticky, white foam resulted from a steady pour. Sweet grapefruit and mango on the nose along with strong citrus and hop notes. Medium weight with a crisp, clean mouthfeel. Sweet tropical fruit up front with an increasingly bitter flavor as it warms on the palate. Lots of citrus and pine on the back end. Finishes smooth and creamy and leaves a bittersweet hoppiness on the aftertaste.

Definitely an outstanding beer. One of the best balanced IPAs I've had in a while, although it drinks more like an APA. I'd put this beer right up there with Sculpin and Anti-Hero anyday. (658 characters)

Of all the beers my brewing buddy Bob brought back from his trip to Ohio, this was my favorite. BIG fruit hop nose! BIG flavor palette including pineapple and mango. A hint of honey, and even a little wheat, nice. Excellent bitterness to offset all the fruit. Refreshing, well crafted, and above all original. (309 characters)

12 FL OZ can
Served in a snifter

A - Truth pours deep gold to amber in color and is clear. It is topped with an inch of off-white head.

S - I get the obligatory citrus smell with tangerine standing out. I also get some grapefruit, mango, and pine.

T - The taste is loaded with citrus. It starts out with mango and orange, Then it gives way to grapefruit before finishing with pine.

M - Medium and well carbonated.

O - I am growing to like this beer a lot. I first had it at the brewpub. Then I had it at the Great American Ballpark and Horseshoe Casino. Now I can't get enough of it, and I live in north central Ohio where it is not distributed. I hope they make it here soon. (683 characters)

Poured Truth into a Belgian Tulip.

A - Pours a crystal clear golden with a finger and half of white head.

S - You can smell this baby while its being poured. The luscious aroma of tropical citrus fills the nose with grapefruit, pineapple, pine, orange, and touch of coconut. Wonderful!

T - Getting grapefruit and pine right off the bat. Mid palate fresh citrus and a touch of malt for balance. Finally, on the finish more hops, with added pine needles and grapefruit.

M - Medium carbonation with medium mouthfeel.

O - This beer rocks, and you tell this is gonna be a Cincy favorite for a long to time to come. Cheers! (622 characters)

Poured into a Haw River Farmhouse Ales teku glass. No freshness date.

A- Pours a medium amber color with a 3/4 inch off-white head that retains very well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of surface foam. Resilient sheet of lacing clings to the glass.

S- Piney, somewhat citrusy hop aroma that's backed by a good amount of cereal grain malt sweetness. Slightly musty.

T- Very balanced flavor of juicy hops and sweet malt. It's almost so balanced, I would think it's more of a straight pale ale than IPA. The bitterness starts to really creep in and let itself be known as multiple sips are taken. The alcohol is very well-hidden and there's a hint of soily yeast in the aftertaste.

M- Somewhat zesty with a trailing hop bite. Medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the fuller side.

O- Really good stuff. Will look out for more offerings from these guys in the future when available. Supremely drinkable given the ABV. I would almost put it up there with the ranks of Jai Alai, Flower Power and Head Hunter. Just a very well-made IPA that teeters between single and double. (1,144 characters)

A - Poured out of a grower with a copper and amber color into the pint, it has a small head.
S - hoppy noise with noticeable citrus and pine.
T - Its full on hops, just like the smell. Grapefruit or other tropical fruit. Right amount of malt.
M - Medium body and mild carbonation.
O - Another example of Cincinnati brewers crafting great beer. Looking forward to when this is canned and sold as a six pack. (410 characters)

12oz can (no date) served in a Milkshake pilsner glass.

Appearance: Clear bright copper with a persistent 1/16" head and lots of lacing - big sheets, strands, and islands.

Smell: Fresh cut tropical fruit with some pine notes.

Taste: Hoppy, but not exceedingly bitter. Definite mango and tropical fruit up front, then a quick malt sweetness for balance, and then a sharp grapefruit citrus tartness/bitter finish.

Mouthfeel: Light carbonation, dry, but sticky on the teeth also.

Overall / Drinkability. A very nice take on a AIPA. I like the use of aroma hops and classic citrus flavor hops as well. Very tasty, well balanced, and very drinkable. I could easily have another one. I do wonder how this one would pair with food though. I think it might go really well with salads and some vegetarian dishes given the mango flavors and tropical fruit aroma. I think with the right type of poultry it might also shine, but I think it would clash with beef. Might need to pick up a 6 pack and experiment with this one. Well done! (1,031 characters)

Deep gold with touches of orange throughout. An off-white head leaves minimal lacing. A medium bodied, bitter, dry and well carbonated hop bomb with an array of fruity flavors - grapefruit, pineapple, mango and peaches - softened by pale maltiness, dried grass, and pine, and with a bread crust in the finish. One of my favorite American IPAs, so thankfully, the brewery is within a short walk from my downtown office. (7.2% ABV) (431 characters)

Can from 12/04/14. Light copper in color with a beautiful head. Huge hop burst in the nose. Bold citrus aroma. Medium mouthfeel with hops taking the forefront. Light biscuity notes with pine, grapefruit and mango. This is Southwest Ohio's version of a west coast IPA and it is done well. Leaves the palate wanting another sip. Clean yeast profile with piney resin left on the tongue. Beautifully done. 7.2% goes over well but sneaks up on you. (443 characters)

ACBF pour

A-Pours a hazy orange with a well formed white head. The head really fills up my sample cup.

S-Quite hoppy. Lots of peach and citrus with a dried grass aroma as well. The aroma is right in my wheelhouse. I'm excited to try.

T-Again, it's just as advertised. A big, bitter hop wave with tons of different fruity flavors. Peaches, grapefruit and mango. Dried grass and pine. Soft, pale maltiness.

M-Bitter, dry and well carbonated. Medium bodied. Lingering flavor.

O-A hop-bomb that I would absolutely love to see available in my neck of the woods. Assertive and very yummy. (587 characters)

Picked up a single 12 oz. can of this to try on a recent trip to Kentucky and south western Ohio. Poured into one of my pint glasses, this beer pours a clear, medium to dark amber/copper color with a fluffy white head that is over an inch thick when first poured that eventually settles to a good, solid 1/4 inch thick that lasts until the last sip. The beer also has lots of streams of little bubbles rising to the beer's surface. Lots of lacing too. Aromas of piney, floral, and citrus hops along with some biscuit malty sweetness. Flavors of piney, citrus, and floral hop bitterness that gives way to a nice biscuit, lightly toasted caramel malt sweetness. Very good balance of flavors. Has a clean and dry finish with the hops flavors lingering. Has a mainly crisp, slightly prickly, also smooth and frothy, medium to full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. A very solid IPA here all around! I recommend you give this a try.

This is a very good IPA, perhaps the best of all beers by this brewer, and likely the best IPA by any brewer in Cincinnati (a close call between it and MadTree's Psychopathy). A great go-to beer!! (196 characters)
