Saber Tooth Tiger is a Prehistoric IPA that attacks the senses with potent notes of Papaya, Mango and Peach yet finishes it's prey (your palate) with a crisp clean citrus bitterness.

Appearance: Served on tap with a copper color and a medium head that left some splotchy lacing. Looks good, but the head wasn't too impressive.

Smell: Amazing. Think White Rajah smell with a little bit more peach in there. Tropical fruits all the way, and a lot of them.

Taste: Unlike White Rajah, the taste is just as good as the smell. There's mango, peach, orange, and other tropical fruits (they say papaya, but I really don't know what that tastes like). A touch of malt balance, I suppose, but this is a great tropical hop bomb. Not much pine here.

Mouthfeel: Pretty typical DIPA, I would have liked more carbonation and it's a touch thick, but it goes down well, probably just because it tastes so great.

Overall: One of the best if not the best DIPAs I've had. If you're looking for tropical fruit flavors in a IPA/DIPA, there's no way you can be disappointed. This makes even the Rhineguist Truth IPA seem more unremarkable.

Got this from a friend and I really wanted to have good feedback for him. Not sure how this is rated so high. Smelled pretty good and the taste started out nicely fruity but the finish was just a disaster and the warmer it got, the worse it got. Really wanted to like this, but drainpoured halfway through.

This drinks with a great fruity hop personality. I get tropical fruit straight away, than watermelon, mango and oranges. Mid palate is a little danker with some pine and herbal notes. It finishes with nectarines and a caramel maltiness.

A: A dark copper, borderline gold with a slight white head comprised of big soapy bubbles.

S: Fresh mango pulp! this is followed but cascades of pineapple, sweet caramel and tons of grapefruit. Dried fruit comes to mind while enjoying this aroma with a nice tart citrus.

T: Very floral opening to this brew. Freshly squeezed lemon and grapefruit are mixed with bits of grass and mandarin orange. Pineapple makes an appearance with a juicy pine finish. And my oh my does it finish long.

M: Medium bodied with not much in the way of carbonation although you can feel the bubbles on your tongue. long juicy finish.

O: Very impressed. wonderful. juicy yet balanced. a beautiful beer that i cant wait to have again. /93

poured out of 32 oz growler into stemless glass

a: absolutely beautiful deep burnt orange/amber with small off white head that lingers for a bit. crystal clear. one of the most attractive looking beers i've ever laid eyes on.

s: bursting with tropical fruit and citrus aromas, not overly bitter. i want to dive right in.

t: just as the aroma indicates, tons of tropical fruit, oranges/tangerines, excellent balance between bitter and sweet

m: very smooth, almost creamy, mouthfeel. not overly carbonated, but that may be due to several days storage in the growler - and i'm fine with that.

o: loved it. STT was right up there with the best i've had of the style. i would drink this any day of the week. keep up the great work gentlemen!

Wonderfully sculpted of hop aroma and flavor, yet deeply embedded in a malty pillow of caramel, honey and seemingly tangy fructose, the taste of Rhinegeist's imperial IPA is both predictable and surprising.

Bright copper in its pour, the ale immediately unveils its fruity impressions. Late hop editions offer up grapefruit, orange and lemon; but also contribute to the tropical pineapple, mango and passionfruit character to seduce the tastebuds. As the ale sheds its sweeter and plumper upstart, a drier and tangy bitterness ensues.

While the beer's ripe and zesty start suggests a taste of sweeter fare, the beer resists all that and trends dry and bitter- insisting on a refreshing, crisp and clean taste that makes this imperial status IPA dangerously drinkable and recklessly easy.

Upon reading the previous review, a different beer immediately came to mind (Wicked Weed's Freak DIPA). I grabbed the wife and headed down to the brewery. I was not disappointed in the least.

Appearance: Arrived in front of me in a goblet. The beer itself was a gorgeous coppery amber with a creamy finger of white foam on top.

Smell: Prepare to be punched in the senses with bundles of papayas, grapefruit, and tangerines. Even after the first taste, it was still even more enjoyable to shove my sniffer into the glass and experience that aroma all over again.

Taste: The scent prepares you for that first taste. At first, you get the fruit but as the taste rolls over your tongue you experience a slight bitterness. It is this coy bitter sensation, indicative of many of the style, that both drew me away from it and pulled me back in.

Mouthfeel: It "bounced" in my mouth. The flavor was so intense that I wanted nothing more than to have STT touching every part of my mouth. It was smooth and yet provided a little spark with each sip.

Overall: An outstanding offering, not only from Rhinegeist but for DIPAs in general. I am doing everything I can to procure more of this.

Resin, onion, and big grapefruit in aroma.

Flavor is very citrusy, tons of grapefruit, tangerine, and a fairly bitter, biting finish. The finish is a bit harsh, for my liking.

22oz bottle. Amazingly easy to drink even at 8.5%. Crisp citrus aroma, pours a lovely, pillowy head that quickly recedes. The lack of bitterness makes this a truly treacherous taste bud tickler. Glad I took a chance and am really liking the offerings from Rhinegeist!

Another great Cincy beer from Rhinegeist and thx to JFMBearcat for giving me this in a surprise box. Dark golden color, crystal clear and inviting. Well balanced and slightly strange bitter taste for a big boy but still easy to drink. Forgot about this in the back of the fridge for a bit but no complaints on taste or being aged too long for a DIPA.

L - Pour looked nice into a snifter with a full head and copper color.
S - Lots of fruit on the nose.
T - Like the label and noise lead me; Papaya, mango and peach and fairly sweet.
F - I think that they missed it here.
O - Started well and is solid. I should have drank it a bit fresher.
