Pours a nice copperish-brown with excellent head and very nice lacing throughout. Decent scent, a bit of roastiness, a lot of jerkiness and some earthiness; not very deep and malty or roasty, nor as spicy as most German brews are. Good flavors, with some nice roastiness over a decently sweet maltiness and a nice slight earthy finish. Goes down incredibly smooth, by far this beer's best attribute. If you're looking for something to get someone started on a bit of a darker beer/lager, this would be a good choice to go up to, without shocking their system.

Deep garnet appearance with a tiny beige head and no appreciable lacing. Toasted malt aroma with a hint of toffee. Very simple flavors with a cardboard-like taste. Pretty much lacking a substantial hop footing. Sweetish finish lasted longer than it should have. Needs more body.

This stuff I think is underrated. Really smooth and flavorful lager. None of the nasty smell/flavor of regular Becks, I actually just realized it's a separate style altogether, one that I typically enjoy. That makes sense. I'd happily drink this if available out to dinner or some such occasion.

A decent dark beer, one that rests solidly on the average part of the scale. 2010/07/17

Pours kind of a brownish color but without much viscosity to it. Small less brown in color head, 1/5" and no retention. Aroma of brown malt roasted, I don't get any skunkiness like I do from the regular version of Beck's.
Taste of metal and earth making me think of the Industrial Revolution. Slightly lighter in body than your average dunkel, somewhat brought in that direction by the higher than average carbonation. Bitterness is there, noble hop and roasted malt derived I would guess.
Its ok, not revolting, not great.
