I am grading this beer on a scale, in that, if it said IPA on the side, and tasted like it did, I would give it an "F," but it doesn't, so I am grading based on expectations.

A - Who cares what a beer looks like? - 3
S - I didn't pass out when I smelled it - 3
T -Although not a Becks fan,I think that this stuff tastes good - 4
M - I don't know what this bollocks means - 3
D - Very drinkable, just not a ton of flavor - 5

All you beer snobs, get your heads out of your asses, and rate beers based on expectations. This would be a great beer for a designated driver (2.3 ABV) at a game. The only light beer that I have ever had that was better is Boston Lightship, and that is gone.

I am drinking a Smuttynose IPA as I type this, so can't we all just get along? (765 characters)

One of the first tips in reviewing a beer is "Keep the style in mind." This new product is not regular Beck's. But that's OK. It's actually a very drinkable, smooth and tasteful competitor to the "Aspen Edges" and "Michelob Ultras" of the world. On that comparison, it succeeds very well because, frankly, it has at least some quality taste about it. It's weaker than the Regular brew from Beck's, yes; but for a low-carb and low-cal brew, why not drink a Beck's? It won't become my "regular" beer, but I think I will become a regular "Beck's Premier" drinker. [Thanks, JB, for the sample bottle. I went out and bought some more!] (630 characters)

i do not know what is different about this compared to beck light. I do not know if they have changed to this or what. I will say that this is a good bang for your buch as calories are concerned. yes the flavor is weak! but at 64 calories what do you expect. This is not a "beer drinkers beer" per say it's at least an alternative to michelob ultra, aspen or the other "low calorie" beers. for the 64 calories it is, this delivers acceptable taste. (447 characters)

My favorite light beer.

Pours a clear yellow color with little head retention. Smell is of honey mixing with a hint of sweet malt. The taste is mellow and crisp. Sweet with a slight dry flavor profile in the end. Very clean flavor and refreshing. A great beer when you only want to chill and have one. (303 characters)

Look - medium light straw color. One fingers worth of foam. Good carbonation.

Smell - more of a pilsner-like smell, hoppier than it probably should smell like for a light lager.

Taste - pilsner-like smell didn't follow into the taste. As far as light lagers go, this one seems to have a tinsy bit more character, but not much. Kind of a hoppy tasting water.

Mouthfeel - watery texture.

Drinkability - as with most light beers, you could keep going back to this one in the fridge as much as you want, because the taste and filling quality just isn't there, nor is any kind of complexity. A little better than most light beers I've tried. (640 characters)

Beck's Premier Light pours exactly as a light beer should: A very pale, translucent body holds up a finger or so of snow-white foam. The head is denser than one might expect from a beer so light, and manages to stick around little longer, too.

The nose is intriguing. There is no malty character, but the distinct smell of hops promises that this light offering may have more in store for us than the average light lager.

But alas, the beer's appearance and smell prove to its best qualities. The mouthfeel is average, though slightly less carbonation than other beers in the genre makes this one gentler on the palate than one might expect. The light hoppy character promised by the nose is indiscernible in the first sip; the hoppy flavor only emerges in the aftertaste.

In a well-executed light lager, a very light malt produces a crisp, clean, slightly sweet taste. In this case, the absence of malt leaves the beer tasting like slightly floral seltzer water. And so it seems that the problem here is a lack of balance. All the beer needs is a slightly more substantial malty character to support its pleasant but faint hoppy aroma. It should be possible to achieve this without sacrificing the thin, crisp body one expects from these beers.

Still, Beck's Premier Light's mildness and hoppy nose are refreshing enough to recommend it to those of us who enjoy sipping very light lagers on hot summer evenings. The beer is above-average as far as very light lagers go, and as long as you don't let the nose fool you, you won't be disappointed. (1,549 characters)

Poured a medium straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell featured a light upfront noble hop spice with a light grainy malt.

The taste was light and shallow with some hop spice. Some doughiness toward the finish.

The mouthfeel was thin and crisp.

Overall a good and highly drinkable light beer. More flavor than I expected. (388 characters)

S-sweet hops smell that seems to carry no other smell
T-same taste as the smell with the same aftertaste
M-very light body and light carbonation

Beck's Premier Light brewed Brauerei Beck & Co., with an ABV of 2.3% This brew pours out a light amber color with a nice white head. The smell of is light with, grains, malts and a light hit of hops. The taste of beck's light and I mean light. Put you in the mind set of beer with a lot of water. You pick up some grains and malts, in the taste of this brew. This is brew for people who don't like brew. Not much on the taste or mouthfeel. The mouthfeel of beck's light is smooth, light and refreshing. There is nothing bad about Beck's Premier Light , but nothing to write home about. Overall I'm giving Beck's Premier Light a 3 out 5. For what is worth this is a light light beer. A nice brew for a hot summer day. Not a huge fan of this brew, there can be so much more to this brew. I thought there would be more to this brew. (840 characters)

Green bottle into pint glass.

A: Pale gold. No head, even with a hard pour. Minimal lace. A Coca-Cola has better head retention.

S: Sulfur compounds...probably from the hops. I think I smell malt. Maybe.

T: This is not bad. Really. It's nicely balanced between decent malt flavor and a little hop bitterness in the finish. Nothing is particularly strong or aggressive, but it doesn't taste bad at all. Like pilsner-flavored seltzer water.

M: Seltzer water, but this is slightly less carbonated.

D: Extremely drinkable, great thirst quencher. I didn't notice any serious off flavors, and it goes down easy. Something to drink without thinking about it. (660 characters)

a-clear golden color, no foam no residue on the glass, borning

s-becks smell, I do like the small compared to a miller light, or a bud light

t- more flavor than a miller or bud, if had to watch my weight, this would be a beer I would drink

m-very smooth

d-could drink alot but with such a ABV of 2.3 it would not get me fair. (329 characters)

Dieting sucks, and for a craft beer drinker, its even worse. Becks lager is drinkable, so I figured I'd give Becks Light a shot.

A - Pale almost clear color. Not much of a head.

S - Slight Euro skunkiness, but not nearly as strong as what you would expect from a Becks. Grainy and slightly sweet.

T - Think half Becks, half club soda. Very carbonated with a slight saltiness.

MF&D - Watery and lacking any real flavor or characther. I guess it is what it is. Even if your trying to be good while dieting, I'm sure there are better options out there. (553 characters)

alright, enough flack from all you real men who dont drink light beer. sometimes drinking 5 imperials of barley wine and washing it down with 10 plates of nachos is a little overkill. theres nothing wrong with enjoying a light beer every now and then. (gasp!) anyway, this stuff is alright. im not in love with it, but hey, i dont like soda and this is a good pick for lunch or after the gym when you dont really need the full impact of a heavyweight brew but need a little refresher. its pale, of course, and it smells faint. lightly sweet and grainy if anything. its crisp in the mouth, refreshing and light and delivers a touch of sweetness matched with the slightest pressence of hops. like a dumbed down, lighter version of....becks! it is somewhat enjoyable, a lil funky and it tastes better than the usual NA beer. which is basically what it could be chalked up as (low alc. very low calories). so all in all, i think its a decent stab at a low cal/alch. beer, and on hot days when the sun is out in full effect, its a decent quencher. (1,042 characters)

Becks Light is not a very good off shoot of Becks regular...the beer pours golden clear with decent head and corbonation to start, both which fade rapidly. The smell is grain/barley and pilsner hops. The taste is sharp, pilsner hops strike first, then a slight balance of malt, the aftertaste is bitter. The mouthfeel is lacking because of the very light body, which is good if it is a hot afternoon. Overall it is a better than bud light...average beer. (454 characters)

Skunked, watery, German-style pilsner. There's no other way to describe it. It does have a more grainy malt character to it than Beck's Light, and there are some delicate hop flavors in the background, but there's really not much going on. The flavor ranks right up there with non-alcoholic beers, and for the extra 1.8% abv that you're getting I see no point in bothering with this at all. There are much better light beers out there! Unless, of course, you really like that German malt and hop flavor - but if that's the case why not really enjoy one good bottle of beer versus two of these? Disappointing to say the least... (627 characters)

Beck’s Premier Light has a thick, white head, a clear, bubbly, straw appearance, and basically no lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of sweetness, bread, and cracker, with a touch of grass, and the flavor is of those elements, but at an extremely faded level. The mouthfeel is very light and watery, and Beck’s Premier Light finishes crisp, clean, dry, refreshing, easy drinking, and dull.

Popping this one for a review, as I got a sixer. Now, I’m reviewing as a LIGHT beer, as advertised.

Pour is a very clean, but very light straw with a decent white head that dies quickly. Aroma is the typical euro skunk and veggies – and it has a faily pronounced kick of those.

The taste of the euro style pilsner is actually pretty good, the big drawback is with the low alcohol comes the watered down body – fairly lifeless.

If you HAVE to drink low calorie, here ya go – otherwise, get the real deal. (510 characters)

I picked up a six pack of this stuff and headed over to a friends house to play a game of Trivial Pursuit, I was drinking this and everybody else was drinking the Miller High Life that my roommate brought. Let's just say I won, easily. The beer itself is not horrible in context. By this I mean if you put it next to a "real" beer it tastes like piss swill, but on its own with the fact that this is a very light beer it tastes okay. I drank these straight out of the bottle so I didn't notice much of a head, but based on other reviews there wasn't much of one in a glass either. The color was golden but very light and the smell was nearly nonexistent. The taste was watery and left my mouth a bit dry after each sip. But on the good side each beer was only in the double digits on calories and I was able to drink a non-alcoholic beer and still win at Trivial Pursuit!

Good if you want to be sober and skinny. (916 characters)

Very pale in color with no head if any. Typical cooked corn/syrupy aroma that's somewhat sweet. Taste is much of the same except that it's almost bland and seltzer-like. Not sure if this can be called beer but I guess I could put it a bit above typical american light lagers. (275 characters)

Just your average American style light beer

A- Nothing special. Piss with some foam. :)

S- Decent, has some nice smell of hops and wheat.

T- Pretty full for a light beer, very wheaty and full-ish.

M- Not the greatest. Feels dark and plain.

O- Buy this as you would Miller light, Bud Light, or Coors Light. (310 characters)

A- Damn near clear with a very light yellow green tinge (0.25 SRM maybe) quarter finger head faded very fast.

S- Grainy malt with just a light hint of noble hops.

T- Aperently the purity law doesn't give any mininum amounts of the 4 ingredients. The one good thing I can say is there's nothing offensive here. This is the remains of what might of been a decent german pils that got watered down, horribly.

M- Very, very light, carbonation isn't as bad as I thought.

D- Well water is drinkable isn't it.

This bad, but not in the "this tastes like piss" sense. There's just nothing here, that includes off-tastes and regular taste. I would pick it over BMC light beers however, as it seems as though Hops were at least within 20 feet of the kettle. (752 characters)

Beck's premier light has a crystal clear, golden colored body and a small, bone-white head. Not retention or lacing.

The aroma is very weak. Just a touch of sweetness and not much else.

The flavor is extremely weak and watered down. However, I detect just a bit (perhaps a mirage on the horizon) of what I think is noble hops. A touch of light malt sweetness also. Really, this beer is mostly water and tastes mostly like water. For a light lager it is about what I would expect, but it is still not a great beer even as low alcohol beers go; the few craft brewers that produce the occasional low alcohol beers do a much better job. However, I don't know if any craft brewer puts out a beer with 64 calories.

Mouthfeel is light and fizzy.

You could certainly suck down a lot of these quickly due to the thin mouthfeel, low ABV and low flavor. Think about cutting a light beer with tonic water and then having a chugging contest; that would be some kind of drinkable right? (976 characters)

Six pack of 355ml little green bottles.

Looks paler than any other lager I've seen.

Smells like any other lager, but from far away. Very weak aroma.

Tastes more like lager-flavoured water, than a lager. Light and refreshing, and you will not get drunk from this.

Nice for it's niche (light beers), but very bland and boring. (328 characters)

Poured from a 12 oz. green bottle into a pint glass, this beer pours light straw in color and quite clear. A half inch of foam settles to a surface ring in a minute or so.

Nose of very light grain and hops yet reminiscent of other offerings from Beck's to a degree. Taste follows with light notes abounding, or, at least there. This beer does indeed seem diluted to a degree yet seems comfortable in its own body. It is light and has a brief dry close. Feel exceeds its setup as there is some body there.

Seems as though we need a mini-light for these mini-ABV-brews for the caloric fearful amongst us. Then again, not, just go straight to Low Alcohol beers. Pass me a Bud Light please.

At half the strength of regular Beck's I took the liberty to dilute such in half. This beer surely exceeds that mixture and isn't nearly as watered down as others would imply. Still, a thin beer, yet not unexpected in body. (915 characters)

A: Pours a clear light straw color with a massive rush of bubbles and a brief head. Carbonation streams steadily throughout the course of the drink. No lacing.

S: Strong skunky aroma. Not pleasant.

T: Fortunately the skunk is gone in the taste. Surpirisingly malty with a taste of honey. The taste isn't very good, but I'll take it over most other light beers.

M: Light and watery with moderate-high carbonation. Finishes clean and dry.

D: By no means a good beer, but it tastes significantly better than any other light beer I've tried. At 2.3%, it's going to take a lot of these if you're planning on feeling any alcoholic effects (totally defeating the purpose of drnking a light beer), but if you're watching your weight and are having one or two social drinks, this may be your best choice. (807 characters)
