Sun-faded straw with several large, soda-like bubbles flitting up to the ghastly looking head. Is it the lack of carbs or something else that's responsible for this abomination sitting atop my beer? Dingy white in color, softly styrofoam-like and without the slightest hint of stickiness, the cap fizzes away in minutes and looks like absolute crap while doing so. Lace is an impossibility given the texture of the foam.

The nose is nothing to write home about, but is a damn sight better than the appearance. No direction left to go but up, right? The minor degree of skunkiness that greeted me on crown cracking is no longer present. What's left is the usual melange of stale grain and musty hops. To give it some credit, the nose has more strength than a lot of light beer. Doesn't smell any better though.

Not good. I tend to forget how bad these low carb offerings are between bottles (it keeps the nightmares at bay), but it's all brought home to me after one swallow. The malt backbone... well, there really isn't one. The beer tastes like light beer cut with distilled water. As always, a lack of flavor means a certain lack of offensiveness. I reserve the right to still be offended though.

I also pick up a cardboard-like flavor that can't be due to age because the 'best by' date is still a ways off. It could be due to maltreatment I suppose, though I have a feeling that this is just lousy beer through and through. There's no flavor arc to speak of--no beginning, middle and end--just a quick blip of watery beerness and then... nothing.

I'm surprised to see that the ABV is so low, but then alcohol has calories and calories are to be avoided in beer at all costs. This one has 64 if anyone cares; of which I'll be drinking about 40. I refuse to comment on the body since there isn't one and I don't want to be accused of making shit up.

I can't say that I had high hopes for Premium Light because I've had too many of Brauerei Beck's products. Still, I thought it might be okay beer in a 'not that bad' kind of way. Apparently I'm a slow learner.

The pour was about what I would have expected with a thin amber color to it if you could really call it amber in any way. Lots of fizzy white foam coming up through the bottom of the glass, and reach about an inch before dropping back down and not leaving any bit of lacing what so ever. Aroma is light grains, musky and full of moldy, bready notes. Nothing you would really want to go around bragging about in any way. Clean and crisp, it made for a good water substitute, but again that was about it as it really just had very little flavor to it at all. Wet hay maybe and a light touch of corn, but nothing really.

Reviewed from notes. Used to be one of my light beers of choice before being introduced to the wonders of Bell's and Goose Island back in Chicago.

Pours a very light straw color with a moderate white head. Nose is quite faint with some miniscule amount of grassy, floral hops in the background alongside a faint grain presence. Grassy and grainy flavors dominate what is a really, really faint body--you can really tell from the taste that not much went into this brew. Feel is light and prickly. Goes down quite smoothly, and is better than its American comparisons in that it actually would be preferable to carbonated water, at least for me.

Skunked, watery, German-style pilsner. There's no other way to describe it. It does have a more grainy malt character to it than Beck's Light, and there are some delicate hop flavors in the background, but there's really not much going on. The flavor ranks right up there with non-alcoholic beers, and for the extra 1.8% abv that you're getting I see no point in bothering with this at all. There are much better light beers out there! Unless, of course, you really like that German malt and hop flavor - but if that's the case why not really enjoy one good bottle of beer versus two of these? Disappointing to say the least...

I believe it was Travita who shared this wonderful elixir.

The beer pours a very light yellow color with a white head. The aroma is terrible. I get a lot of corn and something that smells like an ashtray. The flavor is just as bad if not worse. Heavy on the adjuncts with no hops at all. Light mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Absolutely awful.

A - Poured out a very pale yellow color with a small, short-lived head.

S - It smelled of corn and grains. A slight skunky aroma, too.

T - Did not taste skunky, but it didn't taste like much of anything. There was corn and a little bitter bite that might have been caused by a hop or two.

M - It is very thin and very light. At 64 calories, it is very easy drinking.

D - Not much for flavor and incredibly light. Compares to Michelob Ultra except Beck's has more flavor.

Best by 07, 2008:

Pours clear with a straw tinge. A thin white head fizzles away.

The smell is of tonic water, wet cardboard - maybe a hint of grain?

The taste is of tonic water. Maybe there are some washed out hops, as it is not too sweet - but, it's not too anything! Is there any malt here? Finishes...it doesn't...it didn't begin, so can't "finish". Maybe a hint of lime?
Fizzy, watery. Only 64 calories and 3.9 carbs. Who cares! There are NA beers with more flavor..

A neighbor's friend gave me a bottle of this. One bottle was enough...

Presentation: 12 oz green bottle with a freshness date on the back label, boasts only 64 calories … must be pretty low in alcohol cause it only has 3.9 grams of carbs.

Appearance: Pours like sparkling water, quite a pale lucid yellow hue. The head retention lacks and the bubbles look soda like as they crackle away.

Smell: Faint yet odd mix of grain husk and over cooked hops.

Taste & Mouth Feel: Very dry, lighter than water on the palate. Very little grain flavor … not sign of malt character. Hops are weak yet double with the crisp carbonation to add a bite. Nothing in the finish.

Drinkability & Notes: Tastes like a dry non-alcoholic beer. Why is there a need to brew something that is so close to water? I really hope the market dies on this stuff.

I am comparing this to regular Beck's as I review this to see how close they came to the regular full power stuff.

Poured in to a glass side by side the regular Beck's the appearance is almost exactly the same. Color and carbonation are exactly the same but the regular Beck's holds on to its head a little bit better.

Smell is quite grainy and similar to a Non-alcohol beer and is distinctly like biscuit. Compared to the Regular Beck's there is no comparison. The regular Beck's has a far superior aroma the big difference being the presence of actual hop aroma in the regular version.

The taste of the light Beck's is dry for a near Non-alcohol beer. Faint grain and yeast flavor and a bit tart at first from the carbonation nothing in here has a flavor strong enough to overwhelm it. The same tartness you get from the first taste of seltzer water. Comparing it to regular Beck's there is no comparison, a clear lack of malt and hops just jumps out at you.

Mouthfeel is sorely lacking. Regular Beck's is far better.

Drinkability is no real comparison. Beck’s light would be a good NON-ALCOHOLIC beer, but is a lousy light beer. Regular Beck's isn't my favorite but I can and do drink it when there is nothing better.

This Beck's Premier Light simply doesn't measure up, it IS better than a Michelob Ultra but it isn't very close to the real thing.

Pours a pale yellow color, some carbonation, with a small fizzy white head. The nose is grainy, and grassy. The taste is slightly sweet, grainy, and ricy. Light Body, not much going on with this one. Another pretty poor try at a beer, was a drain pour.

I won't joke around much about how many times this bottle uses "64 calories" as some kind of selling point. I'm just going to drink this like its another beer, so on to it:

It's a bit impressive on the pour, pale golden straw colored beer, the head is big and frothy at first, it slowly drops and leaves a few tricles of lacing on the glass. The aroma is odd....smeels like brake fluid or some odd automobile part that needs work. Taste...like having sex in a canoe, and if I need to explain why, you haven't been hanging around beer that much. Not good. Sour grains, astringent, popsickle stick wood....overall the taste is very light on the palate, and last night I had several Bud Light's while playing beer pong. This is even lighter than that. My tongue doesn't want to take this anymore, and since I'm drinking this upstairs in my house, I'm going to dump this out of the window.

I always find light beer to be an adventure, although not necessarily for the better. I just wanted to see how this would taste given its calorie count.

Poured a medium straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell featured a light upfront noble hop spice with a light grainy malt.

The taste was light and shallow with some hop spice. Some doughiness toward the finish.

The mouthfeel was thin and crisp.

Overall a good and highly drinkable light beer. More flavor than I expected.

Very pale in color with no head if any. Typical cooked corn/syrupy aroma that's somewhat sweet. Taste is much of the same except that it's almost bland and seltzer-like. Not sure if this can be called beer but I guess I could put it a bit above typical american light lagers.

No real head to speak of on a straw clear body. Aroma is very mild and is your typical light pale hopless malt nose. Flavor is watery with pale malts and slight bitterness showing up in the finish. Super light body and high carbonation and as refreshing as water. Overall low expectations for which I wasn't surprised or disappointed in the outcome.

12 oz bottle poured into an American Tumbler. Best By End 08.2009 64 calories...ok.

A - Clear yellow straw that looks like deluded beer. After the pour there is minimal carbonation rising. The effervescent head fizzed out just as it rose. Nothing left over, no lacing, no nothing to even say there was once a head for even a second.

S - Skunk-bomb with graininess and very light hops. The aroma disappears fairly quickly too. Euro Lager smell but disappears so fast I only got two sniffs out of it.

T - Wow. I can't say I've ever had a more watered-down beer. It really does taste like seltzer water with a splash of beer. Even the beer flavor is only grainy straw with a slightly salty finish. It's honestly not offensive but it's probably the most watered-down beer I've ever had.

M - Slick and light with no body what-so-ever. Fizzy is really it.

D - I wonder if this actually beat Miller to the 64 calorie beer. Either way it's still too much. Water has 0 calories and so should this beer cause water is essentially all it is. Not offensive in any way because there is almost nothing there to create offense.

From a bottle marked: 09.2007-L25669M. I did not look at the date when I bought it. It was in a closeout rack. Now I know why. Still, it pours a very carbonated yellow like it should. The aroma has a skunky maltiness to it but nothing special. The mouthfeel is like water and the taste is bready and grainy. A typical LA.

Popping this one for a review, as I got a sixer. Now, I’m reviewing as a LIGHT beer, as advertised.

Pour is a very clean, but very light straw with a decent white head that dies quickly. Aroma is the typical euro skunk and veggies – and it has a faily pronounced kick of those.

The taste of the euro style pilsner is actually pretty good, the big drawback is with the low alcohol comes the watered down body – fairly lifeless.

If you HAVE to drink low calorie, here ya go – otherwise, get the real deal.

very very light shade of yellow beer, almost like ginger ale in colour, massive bubby head, looks artificial. Aroma is somewhat akin to regular bottled Becks, light saazy hops. Taste is like water with maybe somehops in it.perhaps 1 hop cone per 20 gallons, light and seltzer like. Thin and watery on the palate Overall I would say tis would quench ones thirst, and in all reality with only 64 calories the lightest of light beer., it is better than its American competitors like Green Light and Mich.Ultra

12oz green bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a pale straw colored yellow with a thin fizzy white head that quickly disappears. The aroma is the grain, a touch of Euro skunkiness and faint spicy hops. The taste is very dry with faint grain and hop flavors. The mouthfeel is on the watery side due to the low ABV, and very prickly due to the high carbonation. Overall, not a horrible beer to drink on a hot summers day when you really don't want to drink a beer with much alcohol content, but for most instances, I will grab something with a little more flavor.

Beck's premier light has a crystal clear, golden colored body and a small, bone-white head. Not retention or lacing.

The aroma is very weak. Just a touch of sweetness and not much else.

The flavor is extremely weak and watered down. However, I detect just a bit (perhaps a mirage on the horizon) of what I think is noble hops. A touch of light malt sweetness also. Really, this beer is mostly water and tastes mostly like water. For a light lager it is about what I would expect, but it is still not a great beer even as low alcohol beers go; the few craft brewers that produce the occasional low alcohol beers do a much better job. However, I don't know if any craft brewer puts out a beer with 64 calories.

Mouthfeel is light and fizzy.

You could certainly suck down a lot of these quickly due to the thin mouthfeel, low ABV and low flavor. Think about cutting a light beer with tonic water and then having a chugging contest; that would be some kind of drinkable right?

Lots of carbonation ... more like club soda than beer. Thin yellow mouthfeel, pale yellow color. For this much carbonation, not much of a head.

Taste is thin, some malts, no real hop flavor, no real fruit flavor ... no real flavor, period. A mild skunky/bitter aftertaste that surprisingly isn't as unpleasant as it sounds.

I can believe the calorie rating on this: it's one step above carbonated water.

Becks Light is not a very good off shoot of Becks regular...the beer pours golden clear with decent head and corbonation to start, both which fade rapidly. The smell is grain/barley and pilsner hops. The taste is sharp, pilsner hops strike first, then a slight balance of malt, the aftertaste is bitter. The mouthfeel is lacking because of the very light body, which is good if it is a hot afternoon. Overall it is a better than bud light...average beer.

Becks reminds me of cool German cars, so I thought the beer might be decent. You guessed it, wrong again. A poor pale color with a sad head. The nose is mellow as well as the taste. Real grainy and not much else. Average body but too much carbonation. Not very good.

Appearance: Very pale and clear golden color, with a large white head, this soon collapses to scattered islands of foam. The lacing is patchy and broken.

Aroma: Massive skunk aroma, the worst I have ever experienced. Beneath this there is a cooked grain aroma and some rather faint hops.

Taste: Very thin malt taste, quite close to mineral water; there is a faint metallic hop note at the finish, which lingers on, as if feebly struggling to make an impression.

Mouth feel: Quite watery with aggressive carbonation.

Drinkability/notes: This beer is ephemeral, insubstantial, ethereal, unfortunately, this is not in any sense favorable. It might as well be mineral water. I am surprised that Germany can produce a beer as bad as this. This beer might be refreshing on a hot summer day, but, if so, that is all I can say in its favor.

Presentation: Packaged in a green glass Euro-style longneck with a pop off crown. Served in a standard pint tap glass.

This beer poured the dullest shade of yellow with an ultra thin light white head, that was gone as quickly as it came with no residual lacing. The smell even in a tulip glass was a barely discernable light toasted malt. It drank like a cold glass of water with just a hint of malt flavor, absolutely no hops to speak off. Mouthfeel was thin and watery with some very mild carbonation. Overall its drinkable like a glass of water is drinkable, there is no enjoyment to be found in this beer. Easily the worst european beer I have ever had, and easily the most boring beer I have ever drank.
