Green 12 oz. bottle into a Perfect Pint. Expecting all the worst skunking...here goes:
A: Doesn't look terrible at all: a clear, golden/straw body with plenty of carbonation. The middling white head fizzles out quickly, leaving a pretty wussy ring.
S: Skunking is actually pretty subdued--as are any hops, unfortunately. That said, it actually has a pretty nice, decocted, vaguely raisin-y malt sweetness to it that I find charming, although it's not as good as other German lagers by any stretch.
T: The malt actually comes through pretty well, too. Not a trace of hops at all--not even a vague bitter tingle in the end, and with a slight metallic bite up front. Not as bad as expected, frankly, but there are better German lagers, even at this pricepoint--see DAB, BBK, Konig, etc.
M: Too flat at this point--really blew itself out. A bit of acridity from something. This could stand to be quaffed ice-cold.
O: For an "import" macro lager, it's not that bad--I'd take it over Bud any day. But for a marginal increase, you can get much better beers. And good Lord, give up the green bottles--do yourself a favor and drink this canned, if possible.
