12 oz bottle poured into pint glass.

A: Straw yellow, about a fingers worth of head that disappears very quickly... no lacing at all.

S: Grainy, grassy and corny, with a slight hint of skunk.

T: Pretty much like the smell.... There is a slight bitterness mid palette but settles with little to no aftertaste.

M: Light, thin (a little watered down) with lots of lively carbonation.

D: Euro Lager, pretty plain and not that enjoyable...

.5L, Germany, best by 4/11.

Color is distinctively pale and reminiscent of urine. No lacing, weak head.

A wallop of skunky, sulfuric hops on the nose, reminiscent of some of the other "Premium" Euro-lagers. At least there's something going on in the aroma department, despite its harshness.

Flavor is lightly bitter and not that bad at all. Actually pretty dry and refreshing: thank god it's not sweet or too grainy like so many of these German pilsners. However, the metallic presence is pronounced, so this is definitely not well-made beer. Average mouthfeel with surprisingly soft carbonation. Though, the finish is pretty harsh and metallic.

Sorry Germany, this is not a good pilsner. It's more like a typical Euro-lager. Think Heineken, but with more steel and aluminum.

A- Straw yellow with a weak head that does not last.

S-Bready malt and some hops,,slightly skunky sulfur smell.

T-Mild hop taste with a biscuity malt character,,also a little grainy. I enjoyed the taste.

M- medium body , good carbonation

D- I liked this beer and think it is high.

It is brewed by the German Purity law says so on the bottle and websight. Its a decent tasting beer for a macro and I dont understand why it gets a bashing. Its a great pounder in the summer over the BMC junk.

Becks really reminded me of a slightly watered-down Heineken, actually. It's more focused on hops than malts but it's not overpowering. I liked it way more than I thought I would. Overall, it was similar to Heineken but smoother and less skunky. I'm sure I'll be drinking it again. For a German macro, I was surprised at how decent it was. I thought it would be lacking in flavor but use the German name as a crutch for sales. But I wouldn't hesitate to order one again. If you like smoother, crisp, hoppier beers, this is one to try for sure.

Pours golden with a small, short lived, white head. Aroma of hay, grassy hops and bready malt. Bready malt, grain and floral hops balanced nicely in the mouth. Light crisp body. Average, earthy finish. It's been a long time since I drank this beer and I didn't expect much. However, this Helles is better than most I tried.

My favorite beer for daily consumption. Never a hangover and is very refreshing if you live in the South. I love German pilsners, they rarely have odd additive flavors that occur when a foreigh substance is added to the brewing process, such as wood, blueberries, or spices.

Nice Nobel hops flavor.

Medium malt flavor.

Average carbonation.

Clean pleasant after taste.

Tried this from a bottle and it was pretty skunked so im reviewing it from a can!

Well definitely pours the same... little head weak lacing
it smells very grainy and tastes slightly watery with grain and slightly spicy hops. not a very powerful taste and kind of lacks character.. but its pretty ok. better than that bottle i tried. This beer definitely tastes a lot better! please dont make that same mistake i made and but crappy skunky bottled becks

buy it from a can then decide if you like it of not!

This pale pilsner produced a weak one finger head of light white foam. It quickly vanished leaving nothing but a ring of wisp around the edge of the glass. Pale yellow color matches a 4 on the SRM beer color chart. This beer has the aroma of caramelized wheat, barley malt, and green hops. Tastes are wisps of lime, golden wheat and heavy hops. Sort of watery across my tongue and against my upper palate. I was hoping for a little better flavor, but I don't think I will have another unless it is offered.

A: Clear yellow with a thin head that dissipates quickly.

S: Generally clean; some malts and even less perceptible yeast.

T/M: Some faint herbal, medicinal hops, a bit of malts and yeast; crisp and relatively flavorless.

D: Over-carbonated and under-flavored. Next, please.

Poured from bottle into a mug.

A - Poured clear pale yellow with almost no head and no lacing.

S - Mostly grains with a little bit of skunk but nothing much else present.

T - Right away it is bitter followed by slight hoppiness.

M - Light bodied with medium carbonation maybe even too much carbonation.

D - If Heineken is your beer then this would be perfect for you otherwise, a very simple pilsener with nothing complex going on.

Reviewed from notes.

Pours a somewhat-deep straw color with a multi-finger white head that leaves behind the tiniest bit of lacing. Smell brings some very light herbal, floral hops and some grain. Taste is slightly bitter and mostly consists of a plain grain and husk flavor. Large amounts of carbonation on a light body. Drinks okay and better than a lot of its "peers," but not one of my favorites.

A- typical German pils, slightly less carbonated.

S- slight hops

taste; faint bite of hops and a hint of a malt after taste, a good pilsner

mouthfeel; nice spicy burn on the tongue but not complex enough, still verygood.

drinkability; really a light, refreshing, moderate taste, great beer to drink all night with your buddies or slam down after a long day of work.

Not bad at all but nowhere near the best, take it for what it is and enjoy and like all Reinheitsgebot beers, hangovers are a rare side effect.

color is very clear and lite golden yellow. head disappears fairly fast.

smell is of wheat, lite malts. a bit of bitterness

Tastes a bit too tart and grassy with a tinge of sweetness. the heavy carbonation takes some of that away.

Very lite body with a lot of carbonation.

Best when cold. an o.k. brew but, not a great one.

Overall you'd expect a better brew when considering the nice packaging and the fact this is a German brand. Would buy it discounted from time to time. Definitely much better than coors n' bud

A: Thin for a pils in color. Lots of carbonation.

S: Very sweet malt. Copper. Grassy.

T: Bitter grass, sour malt. This is the kind of beer that you just drink really cold and don't think about it. Thinking about it, it's not so great.

M: A tad mouthpuckering, a tad sour. Nothing remarkable.

D: Not great. Needs to be cold.

Pours a transparent gold color with a 1" white head. Smells like a traditional german pilsner, but its a very light scent. Taste is lighter than other pilsners I have tried, its crisp, hoppy and refreshing. Mouthfeel is a little watery and pretty carbonated, but its crisp and refreshing. The unoffensive taste and crisp mouthfeel plus the tolerable ABV make for high drinkability. Overall Its a fine beer, but it is nothing exceptional, only a few steps better than bud or miller.

Ice cold bottle into a pilsener glass.

Though the style itself is not appealing, it's precisely on point to it. Pale, clear golden in color. Big soapy head that stays around for longer than your normal lager, but is still gone fast. There is a little bit of soapy streaks as you drink it down.

Smell is actually present, but it is a little astringent, with a metallic twang and malt hints.

Taste has this stark tinny twang about it. There is a hint of pale malts...a hint. Can't pick up a single hop. There is flavor there at least.

Light, thin, crisp, uber carbo'd and somewhat refreshing.

Though a bland style, there is enough flavor to make it drinkable, not just because how light it is.

From the 24 fl. oz. green bottle marked 04.2010-L11191T. The pour is a lively golden yellow with a good two inch puffy white head that lingers for a good period of time. The aroma is of sweet malts and fortunately not a lot of green-bottle tainted metals. The mouthfeel is light to medium. The taste is full of grass and traditional German malts with a slightly sour bitterness on the end. I have had it before and it tastes as I remember it.

Poured from a 16.9oz bottle into a US tumbler glass.

A: The beer is a bright gold color, with a short white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin and spotty on the glass.

S: The aroma contains light malts, lager yeast and some hops but has the same pungent odor that many of the lower-quality beers in this style have.

T: The taste starts out with a mild malt sweetness that is quickly followed by bready flavors of grain and lager yeast. The hops presence is decent and brings some balance. The after-tastes is slightly sweet and slightly bready.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

D: A little tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, it's a decent poundable beer but there are several others in the style that I would choose first.

appearance; looks like a typical German pils, slightly less carbonated than higher quality beers of this style with a quickly disappearing head.

smell; not much of anything, slight hops when I nearly when i breathe in the foam.

mouthfeel; nice spicy burn on the tongue but not complex enough, still quite good.

440 mL can. I've tried it poured into a glass, and straight from the can. While the glass is slightly better, neither are very good.

A: thin yellow, lots of bubbles, 1-finger head that dissipates into nothing with no lacing--not too much different from a fizzy lemonade.

S: typical lager, slightly skunky, hints of corn and sweet grains

T: bitterness that increases as the beer warms (and not in a good way). There's not really anything enticing here.

M: thin and highly carbonated--nothing interesting.

D: only if it's the only beer available.

Golden yellow colour, doesn't look particularly appealing but not bad either. More carbonation than appearance would suggest but feels great, just the right amount. Tastes clean and refreshing with enough interesting hoppiness to keep coming back for more. Good one for summer days. Drinkability is great and can't think of much more to want from a lager than this offers.

Pours a clear gold with fizzy carbonation and moderate cap of foamy white head that disapears very quickly. Scent is of pale, but fresh grains with a touch (im really reaching far done for this, but they are there) of earthy and slightly spiced hops. Taste is clean, minimal fresh grain taste. Light bodied, highly carbonated. Once again, with a beer like this all i hope for is the absence of impurities and this comes across as clean, clear and crisp, although lacking anything noteworthy.

Look - Light straw or hay in color. Decent carbonation, and about a finger and a half's worth of foam that dissipates very quickly.

Smell - typical German pilsner smell that I personally don't care for. Very hopy.

Taste - quite bitter, and fairly strong at the back of the palate. Still, lighter in taste. Not as bitterly hopy as it could be.

Mouthfeel - oddly enough, creamier than I would have thought it to be, but still somewhat light.

Drinkability - I'd say that if you're looking for a lighter feeling German pils that's not actually a light lager, this wouldn't be too bad. Still, not one of my favorites.
