What an absolute surprise. I was expecting more... well...Becks. Euro-Lagerness and this is actually quite good. Allowed to warm a bit and served in my SA BL glass.
Appearance: Pours a ruddy copper color with an energetic beige Head a very little lace.
Smell: A touch of citrus, lemon rind and grain, with a floral herbal light hop element. Very pleasant actually.
Taste: It is has an herbal tea like citrus with toasted grain and bready malt attributes layered over by a dry earthy hop and some fruits, mostly citrus; a toffee attribute and a touch of what seems like maybe pumpernickel in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Light and easy a dry buy zesty feel that comes off more creamy than thin. Could use a slightly more malty body rather than the sugaryness but.. still quite decent.
Drinkability: The key to an Oktoberfest IMO it must be an easy drinking beers. To me these beers are ideal for mass consumption and this one fits the bill, drinkable. I am very surprised.
Hope this is helpful.
