This beer was poured a light golden yellow color, decently carbonated and crystal clear. The head that was produced was white to off white in color, decent foam somewhat fluffy and airy but not well lasting, and no real lace present. To be honest not what I would have thought for this type of beer. I even sent it back saying that it was not what I ordered and it must have been Bud, but I watched her pour and it was. The aroma was rather weak, some malt and spices and some citrus hops, but all real faint. The flavors were not much more then the aromas, some malts, alitttle crisp but not much as far as depth for this style of beer. From beginning to end average at best and weak for the style. Lght in body, somewhat easy to drink. It would be a decent regular pilsner styled beer but not one for the typical fall classic. Not one for me to get again.

Seasonal Octoberfest of Becks. Interesting. Pours a lighter amber color with some lighter orange hues. A decent head that quickly dissipated to the edges and eventually disappeared altogether. Limited lacing.

The nose is spice with some malt characteristic. A definite Becks smell from the yeast strain. Kind of plain after that.

The taste has that lager taste that is familiar with Becks. Kind of a like a European skunked pilsner taste. Though the beer had good spice flavor and some malty and limited bready zest to it No real taste that would indicate an Octoberfest. A limited bite from the hops but blends nicely with the yeast, which gives it a zing aftertaste.

The body is light to medium. A interesting taste but overall limited taste.

A surprise I didn't know Beck's made an Octoberfest beer.

Pours a clear orange to amber colored beer with a tan head.

Smell is spicy hops with a lot of grain and dark roasted grain scents. Spiciness of this is quite surprising I would almost suspect they broke the law and tossed actual spices in this.

Taste is a little sweet and slightly spicy with a good bready and malty main flavor to this beer. Fairly strong herbal hoppiness to this beer, but not enough to prevent a pleasant malty caramel after taste after with this beer.

Good mouthfeel.

This was a nice surprise, a GOOD Oktoberfest from Beck's? INCONCEIVABLE!

Pours amber, with a white head with decent retention. No lacing, though.

Lemon balm grassy smell, with an alcoholic kick at the end. Strangely out of place.

Caramel notes up front. Ends with a slightly grassy slightly bitter roast. Leaves a grainy aftertaste.

Little to no body, but still a quaffable brew, if only because it is innoffensive.

This Beck's O-fest i've wanted to try for some time. Found it in 12 pack form only, glad I did.
It pours a nice clear copper with a nice full off-white head. There is alittle fizz but a nice film remains after the head fades, lace is left fair.
The aroma is mostly malts. The taste carries that malt base with caramel and a nice floral hop background. The hop dose its best to crisp things up as a slight hop dryness is left on the mouth.
As a Beck's, not a bad find.

Light copper pour with a thin head and light lacing. Sampled on tap last evening while at Duda's in Fells Point. Aromas of mostly just some expected malts. Rich malt profile in the taste. Lots of crystal and nutty characters going on. Flavor was medium, but this was a pretty good drinker. Very light hops on the finish, which was quite clean.

Pours out a medium to dark amber with a one finger head. Smells of euro trash skunk,,not very appealing.Taste isnt too bad though, i mean it doesnt have a whole lot of flavor but whats there isnt too bad. A dry brew with a slight bit of hoppage , slight and i mean slight hint of coffee in there too. Mouthfeel,,,eh. Not a bad brew though, wouldnt go out of my way but wouldnt turn it down either.

Pours with a one-finger, white head that goes quickly and leaves no lace. Nice clear amber color. Nose is slightly malty. Medium bodied and light carbonation. Starts sweet, mellow no aftertaste. Bottle has this good until 7/2006??? 6-pak of 12oz bottles $6.99 from Hannaford's Derry, NH.

Typical Oktoberfest coloring, dark/medium copper color, small off whitish head. Smell is diacetyl and slight grassy malt. I check the label, best before 06/06 (that is a very long shelf life for an O-Fest, I wonder how they justify it). Taste is a little weak, not a lot of malt action, or any kind of action. Very watered down, pretty lackluster. OK mouthfeel, but this is a bad oktoberfest in any sense of the word.

I picked this one up at Applebees the other day and found to be a medocre beer. This one pours a clear copper color with a slightly rocky head. I only could smell caramel and it tasted predominatly of lemon spice and a little hoppy bitterness. I had two and found them to be enjoyable

Very nice golden color, no head. Doesn't smell like much, a little sweet maltiness, some toastedness, and some troubling hints of tastes to come... Beck's Oktoberfest does not taste good. A harsh, bitter metallic flavor clings to the back of your tongue with a hint of wet dog as its accomplice. Does have a nice toasted character, but I'm not a big fan of wet, toasted metal dogs.

I thought the Beck's offering in 2004 was surprisingly good. This one falls down ALOT! While the appearance is ok for an O'fest, everything else was very subpar. Not recommended. Go for a Sam Adams or one of the much better other German imports. Hopefully Becks will do better in 2006?

Beck's Oktoberfest started out with some promise, it poured a clean amber color and had a white head that sat well on the glass. The head, however, dissolved rapidly becoming a thin layer of foam that did not alce well in the glass. The smell was less caramel like than I would have expected and had a pronounced hop nose; an off characteristic for this beer style. The taste was very bitter with an earthy tone to it. THere was little malt character to this beverage and was carried on the back of the hop additions. The mouthfeel for such a robust beer proved to be on the light side for this Oktoberfest. Overall drinkability of this beer is average, it would make a good party beer if you are looking to have a fall themed party and not worried about savoring the brew.

Wow, this one still seems to change from year to year, and not for the better. Deep copper color, small compact head. light in carbonation. High point is the maltiness quite evident in the nose. Uneventful, not bad, not good, flavorwise, where did the malt go ? Finish is adjunct like macro brew with a very short aftertaste.

Light/medium bodied, nice clear reddish amber color with a fizzy off white head that disappears fairly quickly.

Aroma is fresh bread, caramel toasted malt.

Taste is caramel malt, slightly nutty with excess carbonation giving a bit of soda water taste at first. Finishes mildly dry with a decent grassy hops bitterness.

A little thin for the style but drinkable.

This was a bit better than I expected, though the smell scared me pretty good. The appearance was pretty nice actually. It was a good clean amber/brownish color with an off white head. The head started out pretty big and fluffy, but later dies out to a laceing. The taste was a little bit buttery. The warmer it was, the better it was though. When it was colder, it seemed a little soapy. Along with the butteresque taste, came caramel, a little honey, and some lighter fruits. A little bit of a hop taste to it as well. The smell was a little bit hoppy with the escesnse of skunk interlaced. Overall a nice brew.

The pour was a dark mahogany with a three finger head that very slowly dissapated and left a thick foam on top of the beer throughout the drink.

The smell was hard to pick up good until the beer warmed. After it warmed sweet malt overpowered the nose.

The taste, like the smell was hard to pick up on until it warmed. After it warmed a suprisingly sweet and light mix controlled the palate. Somewhere hidden on the back of the drink was a slight hop bite. The finish was clean and crisp.

All and all a great beer. I'd like to try it on bottle to see what the differences are.

Continuing the search for a good German O-fest, I decided to give the Beck's a try, saying that it couldn't kill me. A very surprising offering that poured a decent amber with a thick tannish head with lots of lacing. The aroma was malty with hints of the yeast and some hops hints.

The taste is dry and malty with a bitter finish. The feeling in the mouth is clean and medium bodied. This went down really easy, and lead to a second pint.

Pours a reddish brown, topped with a one finger light tan head, leaves webs of lacing.
Bready malt and floral aroma.
Almost a light spice and sugar ginger bread cookie taste, bready malt, floral, not too sweet like some oktoberfests.
Medium bodied, good drinkability, solid offering.

Appearance-when poured into the pint glass it poured a nice cloudy dark red color, not much head though and it dissapears rather quick, its ok though.

Smell-faint spicy hops come out with minimal malt, something cooked in there too, not as much as I was hoping for.

Taste-initially crisp, light spicy hops come in later on with minimal malt and it goes down clean without a problem with a slight kick at the end, rather light for an octoberfest beer as it doesn't really kick. Again, it was ok but not what I was hoping for.

Mouthfeel-pleasent and inoffensive, the spicy character is nice, one could only wish for more of it, nothing bad here though.

Drinkability-this category I'm not sure of, oktoberfest drinkers may or may not like it, while the same thing goes for non-oktoberfest drinkers since this is a very light interpretation of the style.

Overall-after having Sam Adams' version I was excited to try an Oktoberfest from a German company but unfortunetely Beck's version seems too dubbed down and "safe" to me. It's not a bad beer by any respect but just didn't hit me with a kick of flavors and complexity like I hoped. This beer warrants a try, but I for one, was dissapointed.

Oddly hoppy for an Okotberfest brew. Maybe because it is from Germany. Afterall, that is where the style originated and we have our own Americanized versions. It pours a translucent amber in color with a quickly dissipaitating head. What stood out in its appearance was the carbonation, there are a lot of bubbles rising in the glass. The carbonation was verified after my first sip. Also, the hops overwhelm the aroma and the flavor so much that I cannot notice much else in there. The flavor and finish actually reminded me more of a lager. My buddy who brought them over concurred in that assessment.

The long trip must have did this beer bad. The pour was a nice orange amber with a decent head, lacing was nice. The smell was sweet but lacking definition, picked up slight spice, but no real standout. The taste seemed very caramelly and sweet but with no real added pizazz, a little to syrupy for my liking, in the end it smoothed out like a lager, different.

What happened in the past year to what used to be a wonderful beer. The appearance is still the same, a nice amber with a slight orange touch. The smell however has lost a bit, leaving very little to capture, unless you get lucky and pick up the faint hops and spice.

The taste this year is the biggest disappointment. I don't know if I got a bad/weak batch, but I distinctly remember this being better before. Most of the taste is gone. What is left is a slight spice with little hoppyness that finishes on the back like a lager. Just plain flat.

The mouth has not changed, thankfully, because I still have a few of these left. I can't really reccomend drinking more than a couple, left a sour taste in my mouth. BLECH!! Overall I won't be buying this again this season and I will hope for it to return to it's prior flavor and state.

Edit: Well the bottle I had last night was a little more tasty, so I gave it another .5, still nothing like the old though :(

Pours an amber color with a beige, short-lived head leaving some froth. Malty nose with some faint fruity notes and a mineral background. Malty with some caramel notes, faintly hoppy in the finish providing enough bitterness to linger. Carbonation is good and keeps it crisp. Not the best Oktoberfestbier I've tried, but not bad. Seems a little underpolished or overproduced, one of the two.

Sorry to the fans of Beck's beer, but this is a very lack-luster Oktoberfest.

Starts off with a nice clear brown/copper color with a medium head that dies off immediately.

Smell is skunky/wheaty. Nothing terribly strong or offsetting, but doesn't really have a lager/marzen smell.

Taste is very flat and uninteresting. It reminds me of low quality white bread with nothing on it to hide its taste. Its just sort of grainy and lifeless.
