Appearance: Pours to a beautiful orange-brown, with strong red undertones. Nice, fluffy tan head that leaves thick, sticky lacing behind.

Smell: Smells of faint hops, with some grain and caramel malt. Nothing standing out.

Taste: Fairly grainy up front, with a nice slightly sweet caramel malt finish. Only slightly bitter. Slightly seems to be a recurring theme here...

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied with quite a bit of carbonation.

Drinkability: With no real exceptional flavors present, it's a fairly easy beer to drink although somewhat boring. It's a real letdown when the best thing about a beer is the appearance...

Clear copper with an adequate amount of white head.

Clean and lightly grainy with some bread crust and very soft caramel accented by a jab of spicy hop before the clean and dry finish.

Pretty standard Oktoberfest here. One I would gladly drink again but wouldn't necessarily go out of my way for.

It poured a copper color with a nice white head. It has a very strong malt smell and flavor. It was a lot sweeter than I was expecting. There was a little bit of the alcohol coming through at the end. It had a nice creamy mouthfeel. One I would drink again if they were to make it again.

I picked this up in $1 discount bin at the store because I haven't had one in a long time. It was still fresh (good until 6/10) according to the bottle.

It pours an almost completely transparent copper with a medium tan head with large bubbles. The aroma is a very light hop at first with a nose hair curling sharpness. The taste is weak hops and mostly grain. It is also very watery with a thin, high carbonated mouthfeel. This has the most horrid aftertaste.

I don't know what else to say. I just can't drink a beer like this. The taste isn't horrible but the aftertaste and feel just kills it.

A: Deep tawny copper, very bright and clear with some effervescent bubblies rising. Short cap that drops, but leaves plentiful lacing.

S: Fruity Euro-lager base to the nose with heavy notes of sweet dark German caramel malts.

T: Typical marzen malt forwardness, but also very Beck's Floral spicyness of noble hops with some grassyness in there too. Lots of caramel, grainy sweetness, touch of bisquit, and hints of toffee.

M: Medium body, firm, tight medium carbonation. Slightly drying finish.

D: Nice and solid. I like how some brews hit both the style and the brewery "signature." This is a very refreshing brew and I could see myself having a few or three or so in a beer garden. I just need a pretzel, some hot potato salad, and maybe some sausage.

Growler filled here in town.

From notes:

A. Reeeel purty, a fat foamy, light copper head, clear russet beer, fizzy, lacy, good retention. Well-nigh perfect. Best thing about the beer, sadly.

S. Faint all around. Mildly grainy, mildly sweet, cereal grains, just a tiny amount of noble hop, no real malt depth here. Oktoberfest-lite.
Pretty much what you'd expect a Beck's take on a Ofest to be, except just a little better.

T. Again, not much 'ere, some grainy character, slightly sweet, slightly everything, tame caramel, no real hops... basically the boring-est Ofest I've had in a long time. Take some chances, Beck's!

M / D. Quite light and spritzy in the mouth, maybe because there's really a near-catastrophic lack of malt character here... fine carbonation, lingering mineral-water feel, mildly bitter.
You could drink this, if you wanted to.

Beck's Oktoberfest isn't offensive, but it really isn't anything else, either.

Situation: Spackle and paint after PSU's fourth victory--time to celebrate!
Glassware: Ayinger becker...
Appearance: hearty orange-brown body with a thick, nearly three-finger head that streaks evenly down the glass--a strong showing for a macro...
Aroma: sharp ping of Saaz and maybe Munich malts--but with the characteristic Beck's nostril hook that both pleases and seizes; a few odd hints of dough...
Palate: easy drinking with malty softness working for it; biscuit malts may be the doughy culprit...
Taste: medium bodied with as much effervescence at the throat as absence of hop character at the teeth; not really a developed profile, but a pleasant picture to drink in...
Overall: As with all Beck's, this beer is a pleasure to pound for a price that is just slightly beyond the other lesser macros; works as a fall fallback if nothing more solicitous can be secured...

Found this sitting in the back of my fridge, figured it was time to drink it.

A: Pours a nice looking dark brown, amber color with about one finger of head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring.

S: Some nice German malts, grains (wheat), and some all-spice. Also, a little more hops that I anticipated, but it all blends together well.

T: Mostly dominated by the grains and maltiness you would expect from this style. A little spice also comes through with some very subtle hops in the after taste. Nothing exceptional IMO, but respectable.

M: Nice and crisp, light-medium bodied with some pretty aggressive carbonation on the finish. Refreshing.

D: A solid brew. I could probably throw back a few of these on a nice fall evening. It's nothing to write home about, but it's a decent representation of the style.

A very good ocktoberfest, this pours a dark amber with lots of foamy head that lasts. Good flavors with spices malts and some hops. Full-bodied with lots of carbonation and a good bite. This is a very well done and refreshingly light octoberfest beer.
this is very easy to drink as I sat in front of the tube watching football and drank a full growler not one complaint.
I would recommend this one.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a nonic imperial pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a translucent tawny color. The head is thick and frothy and leaves some spotty lacing down the glass.

Smell: Malty and a little grainy. There is a little bit of hoppy crispness in the smell as well.

Taste: This is your typical Oktoberfestbier. Very malty but balanced well by some hoppy bitterness. Also has kind of a bready taste to it.

Mouthfeel: Full-bodied with only a little bit too much carbonation.

Drinkability: A good Oktoberfestbier. This one'll probably be my last Oktoberfest of the season and it was a good one to go out on. Highly recommended.

Pours a dark amber body with a puffy off-white head. Aromas of toasted pilsner malt and faint hops. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with medium carbonation that scrubs your tongue. Great clean malt flavors with a hint of toffee sweetness that lasts into the finish and is joined by the faint hop bitterness. This is a very well done and refreshingly light octoberfest beer.

I was a little surprised at how much I liked this one. It is a real good fest.
Look is darkish gold with a finger of creamy head that did last.
Smell is malty with a hint of spice.
Taste is much the same a good balance of sweet malt and some bitterness.
Feel is very smooth and creamy
Drink this is very easy to drink and one I could see drinking all day and not complain one bitta.

Poured into a pint glass.

Pours a amber color brew, with light tan head. Head fades to a small lace head - typical for this style of brew. Has some slight lacing.

Brew smells of a nice balance of hops and malts. Caramel, and spices are there.

Brew has a very light bodied mouthfeel. A smooth brew - very refreshing. Has a nice malt flavor; sweetness, but not over done. The hop flavor really balances out the brews finish.

This brew is very balanced, and very drinkable. A nice take on the style. I have had several of these this season. And its hard to find any that miss the mark, but at the same time this style hasnt (for me yet) had anything that has been jaw dropping. It is a very good style if beer, and this is a good take on that style.

12 oz bottle into a mug.

Pours a clear amber, with nearly 3 fingers of poofy off-white head. Retains with a thin foamy layer that leaves some thickish swathes of lacing behind. The aroma is mostly sticky sweet malts with just the slightest whiff of skunky lager yeast. There is some light floral spiciness to this, otherwise that is it for hop activity.

The taste does a little better in the hop department, with a mix of toasty sweetness and moderately assertive hops. Bit of an earthy dry spiciness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, maybe lighter, with a relatively sharp crispness to it. Generally very easy on the palate.

Nothing wrong here. Easy, clean, and crisp, with a good mix of malt and hops in the taste. I could down a couple of these easy.

Picked up a twelve pack on sale at my local Jewel grocery store.

Pours a meidum amber color with a soft, quick head. The aroma is of light toasted bread and Tricuits with some delicate grassy hops. The taste has a faint metallic twang with more toasted malts. Giving dry sweetness of crackers and a one day old loaf of bread. The hops bring just a little balance to this bready brew. Very easy palate, but could do without the metallic twang. Other than that, a great session lager.

Really nice copper color with supreme clarity.

A sweet, bready smell with some hops in there.

Sweet and malty flav with a nice taste of hops in the finish. Taste good as it warms as well.

Very smooth feel, little to no carbonation.

Took down a twelve pack with ease and did not suffer.

This is a sleeper beer. Do not be a pretentious beer snob. If you want to throw down with some quality, this is the beer. Damn fine drinkable beer. Imagine if Yuengling was pure, and you have this beer. Great stuff. Will drink this again next year.

App: Perfect coloration--a burnt orange much like the leaves of fall. A small tan head with decent lacing.

Smell: Caramel, caramel, caramel.

Taste: Mostly sweet, caramel malt with a crisp, biting hop presence. Strong mineral flavor (bad) in the hops with a hint of grassiness (great). AFter getting past the initial caramel flavor, the hops dominate.

Light mouthfeel from the carbonation. A little over-carbonated for a marzen for me.

Not a bad beer, just not special.

(leftovers from our 2009 Ofest party)

4.5 across the board in all catergories.

Perfectly clear copper color with excellent 2 finger head but short head retention & no lace.
Smells as a mild brew day with mellow malts wafting in the air.
Tastes as it smells, smooth malty-ness equally balanced and enjoyable.
Mouthfeel is medium+ carbo & medium-light body.
Drinkability is better than many Ofest brews IMHO, could have some more bold aroma, but other than that a solid Ofest rep acorss the board.

A- Pours a clear amber with very little head.

S- Very malty right off the bat with very mild hop hints.

T- Very similar to the smell, heavy malt flavor with a slight bitterness and the same after taste that regular Beck's has.

M- Not overly carbonated, nice texture.

D- I would describe this as a good session beer to enjoy in the cooler weather, nice for an Oktoberfest style.

Pours rusty brown, nice head, but its fizzy and disapates quickly.
Malty, nutty nose, no hop presence, but very nice.
A bit of skunkiness on the pallate, which cause me to bumb the taste score down a bit. Still its very good. nutty malts, and juuust a hint of the hops.
Overall not the best o-fest i have had, but still damn goo, very drinkable. This is on my list of beers i plan to pring to parties.

*Sigh* The best Okfest beers this year have, at best, a little malt chewiness, and none of that essential Vienna malt roastiness that, with the other ingredients make this such a session beer style. Served with a decent, off-white head, and a bit of lace. Color is a reddish amber. Aroma is malty and a little caramel. Flavor is malty, a hint of bitterness, a bit of toffee. Body is ok and so is carbonation. Finish is like the rest of it, ok, not bad, better than the other 2/3rds of them. Could be a session I suppose.

s- sweet malt, brown sugar, slight vanilla.

t- malt, lots of biscuit, very slight sweetness toward the backend, little prickly, bit of a hop tang in the finish.

m- nice medium body.

d- very drinkable, an overall solid oktoberfest, it's drink this again for sure.

Pours a very copper amber, totally clear with a nice fluffy off white head that lingers suprisingly well and leaves good lacing.

Nose is slightly spicey with good malt undertones and lagery grain.

Hmmm. A nice marzen. I dont know. Anway, a pretty nice malt driven lager with a decent amount of hoppiness to it actually. Dry finish.

Mouthfeel is what you would expect. Nice and macro fizzy and clean.

Drinkability is through the roof, as it should be for the style.

Overall, a nice and drinkable marzen, that i would drink anytime. There are certainly better ones out there, but this is in no way offputting, a good okto slammer.
