I visited Narrows Brewing this past weekend. On my visit, they had 10 beers on tap: a pilsner, two blonde ales (one a "peanut butter cookie blonde"), a pale, 4 IPAs of various descriptions, an amber, and a porter. I had myself a taster flight of four; the standout for me was the pilsner, although the pale ale had an interesting dankness that I liked as well. Overall, the quality was decent.

The taproom is beautiful, warm and welcoming with lots of wood and a lovely view of the water and Tacoma Narrows bridge. It's always nice to be looking at the water when savoring a beer, in my humble opinion. Service at the bar was friendly and prompt, and they have a tidy little swag shop as well.

this place is awesome, right down on the docks with a killer patio for nicer weather and a wonderful view of the water, the famed bridge, and the boats docked up. it really is a neat little slice of the world right here, i love the location, a little tricky to get to, but worth the minimal effort. it all feels new and somewhat grand inside, lots of wood, high ceilings, a bunch of separate rooms kind of branching off from the main hall, which opens into the bar area, mellow when we were in, fairly early in the day, but big enough to host quite a few guests. we got an awesome spot in front of the big windows and took in a rainy afternoon, just lovely. the beer list was pretty robust, quite modern too, we had a hazy and a hazy double, both with unique hop profiles and both very well executed, they seem to have a good touch for the hoppy stuff. these are the kinds of places in my experience brewing mass appeal generic beers like reds and blondes and pales, but not here, they had some creative stuff on the menu, off the wall art on the packaged offerings, and a pretty hip bunch of brews on offer. i could have stayed awhile longer and tried a few more, this is an easy place to post up, drink beer, and let the time pass, very scenic and even calming, a great environment. service was fine, friendly and all, but without a lot to say about the beers and without enhancing or detracting from our experience here at all. surprisingly cool spot, a standout locally in terms of taproom space, and the beers were excellent!

Warehouse look on the exterior with lots of wood inside. Quality of the beer was decent. Service was friendly and helpful. Selection is good with eight beers of their own and a selection of beers and ciders from other companies.

Gorgeous , wood everywhere with an absolutely killer view of the marina.

Beers were solid. No standouts negative or positive. I like going to happy hour nextdoor at Boathouse 19. Decided to stop in here and get my stamp for the South Sound Crawl.

Here's my complaint with the beer scene in the PNW. Too many fucking IPAs. It's like Seattle is 5-7 years behind the rest of the country. And Narrows is no exception. 3 IPAs on tap, an other IPA that's seasonal.. give it a rest already.

With that rant aside, this is definitely worth checking out for the view and solid line up. I'd be a regular if I lived closer..maybe.

Head brewer, Mike, was great about explaining the beers and brewhouse setup. By far my favorite place in Tacoma area with a great view for trying the samples.

So, stopped by the new taphouse the other day.

The place still has a pretty new, just built vibe to it, with a couple of historical pictures on the wall, and a lot of exposed wood in a high ceiling format. Right now it doesn't really look like much, but the view of the narrows bridge out the back is terrific. Otherwise, there are presently 6 beers on tap, including a blond ale (very pils like), a pale ale, an IPA, a stout, a Belgium blond ale and an imperial red ale as the options on this day. I thought the lower abv. beers really stood out, with the pale ale and the golden ale the standouts. Everything else was decent as well, but there really weren't any super stars on this day. Service was decent... didn't hear a whole lot of info about the brewery or the beers, but everyone was pleasant and friendly. Prices seemed fair as well... $4.50 for everything; pints of the blond ale, the stout, the pale ale and the IPA, with the belgium and the imperial red served in 12 ounce glasses. Growler prices were $12, and I believe that's for everything on the menu. As far as I can tell, there is no food served here, other than some pretzels and some chip mix. However, they do have a menu from Boathouse 19, which is right next door, and their food is terrific. The tasting room/taproom has a fair size dining are attached as well, which struck me as a bit odd for a place that doesn't have much of a food option. I should add that there's a cold box with some soda's, ice tea and water, and then they have two different wine options as well (white or red). Like I said, the place still has the feel of a spot that just opened and hasn't yet shaken out all of the "new place" kinks.

So, this is a pretty good spot, and I'm hopeful and optimistic that things will improve over time. Right now, I'm not sure how often I'll be stopping by, but the place has potential, and the beers are solid. Will visit again and reevaluate.

A: Nestled into a marina next to Boathouse 19 down by the water, which was actually in Fircrest versus Tacoma you find Narrows Brewing. From the outside you think you're walking into just another brewery taproom...oh no my friend. Once you wind your way up the stairs you will discover a beautiful place, fresh, nice wooden tables around. It's sordove sectioned off into two areas and easily accessible from the restraint next door. The brewery is visible from the bar and tasting room. Great view of the water and Narrows bridge. Some wall mounted TV's to keep you occupied. Beautiful, relaxing place.

Q: I consumed the Pale and IPA on premises and both were stellar. No quality issues here. The beers were clean, light and on target for style.

S: All of the staff were nice. Some of them have been in the industry for quite some as I recognized and chatted up a familiar face from formerly Jakes Bar and Bistro. The only thing that made me cringe is when a female server recommended that some couple from Colorado go visit Ninkasi because they brew "awesome" beer. I threw up in my mouth a little so I know some of the staff needs a tad bit of education on beer tastes and styles. Overall, the staff was friendly, prompt and knowledgable.

S: 3 house beers today but expanding soon. They have plans to release a stout, some Belgians and perhaps lagering in the future along with some barrel work. The beers were all reasonably priced at $4.50 if I recall. Growler fills, no bottles.
