This one's a giant 75cl bottle; I bought this from Oosters and cracked it as I was rather
pleased that my dear Belgium pal, Christelle, managed to buy me 2 bottles of Westvleteren
Special 6 Red Cap from Kulminator itself. Kudoz to her! Anyway this is the first time I am
trying out such a large bottle; I intended to share it with my dad but he was concerned about
his sugar levels therefore rejected it. Anyway, I tasted this blond Chouffe in my Duvel Tulip
and it pours out with nice dull golden color topped with a most luscious creamy head; quite a
looker. Smell was yeasty, bready and I am not sure if I detected a dash of fruits. The taste
has a yeasty entry and a citrusy and peach-like taste that followed with some spices therein;
a light aroma was felt on the nose followed by a slightly bitter and yeasty finish. Significant
after taste of grapes and a bit of peach and apples with floral, yeasty aromas on the nose. A
pity that the fruitiness was not strong in the taste; I could really appreciate the after taste
but the taste itself was only not bad. The yeast was pretty significant as well, in fact a
little too strong that's why 7.5 instead of 8. Medium bodied mouthfeel topped with pretty
strong carbonation; very smooth to drink but drinkability slightly lowered due to the yeastiness
and sightly bitter finish. I was really expecting more from this one; let's see what the Mc
Chouffe has to show.

La Chouffe is a very refreshing, sweet yet interesting beer.
I like it's color, which is a bit hazy.
The smell ain't spectacular, but the taste is very good and typical 'Ardennen taste'. A bit banana sweet perhaps, but overall very nice.
I would serve it at 8-10 C, or maybe even warmer. It gets smoother that way.
Ideal for Summer. Very 'easy drink'.
