A: Pours a hazy medium apricot/peach in color with light amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass, significant amounts of fine to medium particles in suspension throughout the beer, and a faint amount of lemon yellow highlights. The beer has a finger tall foamy off-white head that reduces to a medium to large sized patch of medium thick film and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of light fruits (pear), spices, citrus (orange stands out), grainy malts, and just a hint of banana.

T: Upfront there is a light to moderate flavor of pale and grainy malts with a light amount of light fruit sweetness (mostly pear with a hint of apple). That is followed by moderate flavors of orange citrus and just a hint of banana. There is a light flavor of spices in the finish. Light amounts of bitterness in the finish which fades quickly.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Relatively smooth.

O: Easy to drink and very enjoyable - lots of complexity to the flavor but still quite approachable. Definitely a sipper.

#101 Beers of Fame

Served in a La Chouffe tulip glass. Amber colored with a long-lasting, rocky, white head. Nice lacing down the glass. Fruity pear and orange aroma with a light peppery spice. Wonderful balance in the flavor. The fruit, spice, and alcohol are all there but neither the malt nor the hops are too strong. Medium bodied and a bitter finish. Easy to drink despite being fairly complex.

I avoided this beer unintentionally for quite some time but will no longer do so. A truly well crafted brew. Paired well with a big pot of mussels.

Good appearance. Cloudy ambet with good head and lacing.

Aroms is pears and onions and subtle spicy notes.

Taste is pears and onions with spivy belguan yeast. White grape notes combine with wheat beer-esque banana flavours for a subtle but complex and delicious belgusn string ale effect. This is similar to duvel but a little different. Definitely worth a visit and would like to try the 750ml bottle rather than my 330ml serving to further explore this well balanced and sophisticated ale.

Very good.

90/100
