Pours amber I color, nearly see through with a foamy white one finger head.

Smell is great on this. Tons of tropical fruits forward with notes of pineapple fresh mangos Papaya and passion fruit. There is some nice caramel malt in the end but hops are the real showcase here.

Taste follows the nose with hops forward and notes of mango pineapple and a big hoppy herbals spicy and slightly earthy flavor. Caramel malt is somewhat lighter then expected but adds a very slight sweetness.

Body is a little on the lighter side with moderate carbonation and some hop oils and bitterness to balance slightly.

22oz Bomber
$8.49
Prisco's Fine Foods - Aurora

Batch 40

Scyllas Grasp has the look of a tarnished penny, a little murky and somewhat dark. When backlit it lightens up considerably with a golden hue. The head is dirty white and bulbous, reaching three fingers easily. As the foam settles it becomes extremely craggy and leaves lacing down the glass that will have to be scraped off. Good looking beer.

A touch of lactic pineapple opens up the aromatics. With warming it smells like there may be an infection that hasn't quite taken hold yet. A rubbery twang lingers in the background. The hop profile is an interesting mix of earthy tropical fruit; mango and rainforest floor, papaya and fresh tobacco, fruit cup with syrup. The malt backbone is caramel forward.

The fruit has stepped aside in the flavor department for a spicy, earthy hop profile, which is what I usually associate with mosaic. While there is some indistinguishable fruitiness an herbal spiciness takes hold. Unfortunately, the more I drink the more the start of infection takes hold of my tastebuds with that shitty rubbery aspect. It's still very early but....shit.

The body has yet to be hit too hard. There's still a moderately weighted pale ale here with carbonation perhaps a little too active but the infection has yet to ravage the body. Drinkability is pretty low.

I could see this beer being good were it not infected. Like I said, it's still early but it's taking hold. As is, I won't be drinking anymore of this bomber but will pick it up again in the future for a revisit. I see a good beer in there somewhere.
