Had this on a recent stop at Griffin Claw. It pours a very clear golden copper color with a small white head that leaves a nice film and lacing. The nose is a well balanced blend of citrus and pine hops and bready malt. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a decently sticky resin quality. Carbonation is perfect on tap. The flavor is a bit hoppier than the nose but still quite well balanced by a backbone of bready malts. This is quite good on tap, not so mu h in cans. If you get a chance to stop at the brewery. ..please do, you won't regret it.

First thing that hit me when I opened the can was a burst of fruity hops the was unexpected. If the amazin smell had lasted into the glass' this would be an epic brew. I love the pale yellow color. It's rare to find an India PALE Ale these days that is actually pale. Great lacing and a continuous thin layer of white foam. Aromas of pineapple, ginger, honey, and Sugar In The Raw. It has a toasted marshmallow front end malt backbone with a sweet mild ginger and pineapple finish with a perfect amount of hop bitterness. If I have any concerns it would be the mouth feel, it is not as full bodied as I would like. The beer is improving in aroma and flavor nicely as it warms up a bit.

Had on tap at the Tigers game on Sunday.Poured copper with a thicker but quick to fade white head.Alot of malt in the nose with caramel/biscuit malts standing out, citric hops are present but not real big.The hops are a little more assertive on the palate giving some tropical fruit and citrusy notes, the malt base is still pretty hefty giving off some sweet caramel and breadiness. Not bad but not a big hop assertive ipa, still better than most of what you are gonna get at a ballgame.

16 oz can (what a great invention)

Pours hazed medium amber, nice ringed lacing left behind, like khaki froth

Ripe fruit and medium toast on the nose

Easy drinking and pleasant enough IPA. On the maltier side with mild piney and grainy hops coming on late. Better then decent, but did not blow me away with yummyness. Worth a try and certainly well crafted.

A clear yellow ipa with a brilliant white head that sticks to the glass. Nice hoppy aroma that hits a bunch of different hop aromas. Taste is piney, citrusy, grassy, and a bit floral. Not too bitter but does linger as you go. Good ipa.

Finally! Griffin Claw has launched their flagship beers in a 4-pack of 16oz cans!

A: Much lighter than one might expect from an IPA. Almost a pale-golden hue. Good lacing, but no head retention.

S: Ohhh my. Huge hop bitterness. Very piney. If you don't like piney IPAs, stay away from this one. I love them, however, so I think this beer smells fantastic. Almost no maltiness present. This is all about the hops.

T: Just with the smell, huge hop bite, both up front and on the backend of the tongue. Little malt presence.

M: Just fantastic. Slight stinging/tingling with a very crisp lightness to it. Makes me want to have another sip as soon as I finish the first.

O: Griffin Claw is an awesome brewery, and I'm happy that they have finally started to make their beers available in beer stores. If only some of the other great MI brewers did this as well... (I'm looking at you, Kuhnhenn.)
