Look: Pale golden in color, transparent and with a little bit of white foam crown that does not lace much.

Nose: grainy aroma

Taste: Grainy / rice-like notes predominate without any bitterness to finish.

Mouth: Thin or watery mouthfeel

Drink: The beer has a relatively favorful appeal, and is, therefore, easily drinkable (if un-skunked, that is). But it does not dazzle or possess the entirely subjective Wow!-factor, and thus, it can only excel so far.

The long and the short of it: it's in acute bottle, but it's green glass which allows it to become skunked (I haven't found an undamaged one yet); nice label; nice, sweetish malt; pleasant smear of hop flavor; good balance; fuller body than expected; very drinkable and quite enjoyable... a little bit heavier, less bitter and crisp, and somewhat sweetish in comparison to a pilsner. Refreshing and satiating. Charming, and worth a try. Without losing points for the aroma, this would score pretty well.

Bought an 8.5 oz bottle of this for $.95. Definately couldn't pass it up for novelty reasons. Cute little bottle with simple label. Totally reminds me of Heineken. Pretty decent for a lager. Definately has the "Skunky" smell, but to be honest isn't too bad of brew. The only problem is how tiny the bottles are. If this is any sign of how the french drink beer, I will not put France on the top of my vacation list.

This beer is just like a puppy; no one can hate it after looking at it.

What a tasty and refreshing German lager. Well, it says its an ale on the bottle, but this is a lager. Trust me. Wait a second... " Le Flacon D'Alsace?" That doesn't sound German! I guess the guy at the liquor store lied to me. Ah well, even if it's French it still tastes like a German Pils.

Comes in a cute little green bottle with a pretty and plain label. Pours out a dark golden with a nice head with okay retention. No lacing. This beer was meant to be drank from its bottle, though.

It's got a very nice bitter zip to it. I've heard people compare this to Heineken but I have to disagree. Whereas Heineken tastes like grains and skunk, this has complex adjunct malt taste and really nice bitter aftertaste. Some have complained of skunkiness, which is common in these green bottle beers, but I bought a 12 pack, not a sixer, and the bottles were shielded from light by a cardboard box. Maybe that's the difference maker.

It has a nice fizzy body and it goes down like soda pop.

This is a really nice summer beer. Crisp, smooth, refreshing, and tasty.

Small dark green 8.5oz bottle. No Freshness date.
For starters, this is an Alsatian Ale, not a "Euro Pale Lager".
It pours a copper-hued gold color with a thin, but lasting white head.
There's a mild fruity smell and a background smell of a just opened grain sack. A faint smell of a musty cellar comes to mind.
The malt possesses a pleasant lightly sweet herbal taste and a dry, raw harshness in the back of the throat. A taste reminiscent of over-cooked mixed vegetables peeks through at times.
The hops provide a sharp and edgy bitterness, yet not in an overwhelming way. A little taste of vodka is noticed.

Not only did I get the cool little bottles but I got a cool little glass that fits on e Boris. Ok , the packaging is above average but what about the beer? Well it is simply slightly above average in taste and finish. Better than Becks and Heineken but not at the level of Konig or Topvar. I liked the glass enough to reccomend buying a 6 pack to get it as it really is an ok euro lager.

The beer pours a pale gold color with a thin white lace head. The aroma is decent. It has a clean pale malt scent with a bit of green bottle skunkiness. It has a sort of sweet aroma to it. The taste is decent. The two French beers I've tried are very much alike. They are very pale and quite sweet. They have a dry clean finish, but the mouthfeel is different from a regular pilsner. The mouthfeel is decent. It is a medium bodied beer with good carbonation. This is a good driking light beer. It has a bit of sweetness and a slight skunky aftertaste.

This has a standard pilsner appearance, with a thin white head. Nothing special so far. Smells like a german pils, which is probably a good thing, since it is a French beer. Tastes good. Somewhat less bitter than expected, and less so than most of the german beers of this style. Actually had a little sweetness to it, but not unpleasantly so. Had pretty decent body, and nice little bubbles. I would go back for another of these before having a Heini or something of that sort. All in all, pretty good.

8.5 ounce stubby bottle, neat but does not count towards this review. Light yellow hue, a well maintained off-white head, bubbly lacing. Metallic, sweet green apple smell; some grainy malts slightly detectable. Mild euro-hops, vinegar and candy apple tastings. The mouthfeel is tender and a fast cleanser. Decent carbonation and a husky-earthy-hoppy finish. Nothing fancy here, an easy drinking Euro lager. Better than the several marketed counterparts, yet more difficult to locate.

A deep golden color, with a thin white head and some sticky lace. Sweet malty aroma, light graininess with a bit of soapy character. Flavor is pretty simple, light malt, faint hopping with a light peppery finish. Not too bad, this is better than Bud and I would drink this again.

The beer poured crystal clear medium golden. The head was white and fell back quickly, but laced the glass.

The aroma was earthy with a slightly fruity aroma. Some alcohol was present in the aroma.

The flavor was crisp but bland with a slight fruitiness. Not much going on. A little malt, but no real hop flavor, only a bit of bitterness.

The finish was dry and every so slightly bitter. The body was medium to medium light.

8.5 ounce green twist off single bottle. Says ALE on the label.

Some kinda socialist beverage!
Probably not, just Narcissistic.
Pours a light golden color with a nice full soapy head. Nicely carbonated with a sticky lace. Aroma is quite pilsneresque and a little skunky; a light sweetness with a crisp hop presence. Flavor is surprisingly sweet with very little hop in the finish (shows up late). The palate is light and creamy with a lively effervescence and a lingering bitterness. I found it a fair brew, but nothing special. It appears to be more about form than content.

It is a clear, light gold with a thin fluffy head. The aroma has some delicate floral hop notes. It does not smell half bad, but it is just an average beer. It is slight grainy with a thin body and a clean finish. There is a little bitterness in the finish, but it definitely should have some more.

One of 13 beers from this month's meeting of the Michiana Coalition of the drinking (now 4 members!). I like the little bottle so it gets presentation points. bubbly, orange brown drink that pours with a 1/4in. head. malt, corn odor. kind of skunky smelling. taste is of bitten, bavarian? hops, malt, and with a butterscotch finish. smooth, fairly drinkable, although a little strange. i think i'm probably done with Boris.

Boris seemed like a good idea for an afternoon whistle wetter. The tiny 8.5 ounce bottle spewed forth a golden straw coloured liquid. A white head sprouted but fell to a thin cap in seconds. Some lacing skirts the edges of the glass. The nose smells much like the tin of the bottle cap. Lager scents of hay and pale barley fume off of the liquid. It has a little air of green glass skunk funk as well. The taste is somewhat sugary and mildly bitter. It has a nearly sour fruitiness that reminds me of sparkling wine or something of that nature. Aftertaste holds some dryness. The mouthfeel is thin. Drinkability is fine as this is not a very hefty creation by any means. I probably would not buy this again, because I would rather swill a mac beer.

In an 8.5 oz green bottle. Pours light yellow with a little white head, I really like the carbonation. Does smell a little skunky, theres not much there anyways. The taste is kind of light and pilsnery. An average beer, but I think it has high drinkability, the small bottles make it easy to transport, and I can put down many of these in short amounts of time, plus its a decent price. So not so great on taste but it has other assets.

A - Clear straw with a fizzy white head. Some clinging power and retention.

S - Bandaids, green apples and metallic.

T - Dunno what to say about this. Nothing off about it - just a grainy pale lager taste.

M - Fizzy, light bodied.

D - Sure. Nothing special but nothing off either. Pretty much an average pale euro lager.

Cute little bottle, fills a pilsener glass with an effervescent clear golden with a fizzy white head. Smell was a bit of hops, very little else. Taste was rather crisp, with a lot of hops up front, and bit of graininess in the middle. Rather highly carbonated, but definitely not as bad as I thought it would be. This is an odd little beer, nothing special... but not hideous.

I keep reading lager in some reviews, my bottle's say French Ale on them. Are we reviewing the same thing? Boris is an average ale with not much nose but a fairly balanced malt to hop flavor. I have not found a skunked bottle yet. All have come in covered 6 or 12 packs. I keep them around because they are affordable and imo better than the macros.

Pours yellow, big foamy head that sticks around, some lacing quite carbonated... a good looking lager.

Aroma of continental malt and a faint delicate aroma of fresh grassy hops. Flavor is a malt backbone being haunted with a bit to much dyacetyl and oxidation. Bitter finish is adequate but overall the beer seems a little sweet. After closer examination I realise the can is past its best before date by a few months.

Actally quite a respectable european example of a common lager, I'll bet it's quite good of a fresh tap in Alsace.
