A.Cloudy burgundy in appearance.Hard to see carbination due to cloudyness. Very small head probably due to the pour of the waitress.
S.Plum is the most prominant smell. With some other fruits in the mix, and a hint of alcohol.
T.Unique even among quads. A hint of plum and fig, sweet but does not hinder.
M.Near perfect carbonation. Mouthfeel is full and pleasant.
D.Excellant for a quad, I would be able to drink two of these and enjoy the whole ride a third would be pushing it.The alcohol is also a factor to consider at 12%.

This one pours a golden amber brown color, with a small head, and a bit of lacing.

There’s lots of caramel on the nose, with some light fruitiness, a peppery and herbal spice, Fig Newtons, and some chocolate.

This has a very subtle but pleasant spiciness to it, herbal, and almost tea-like, with a barleywine-like backbone, rather than the quad that it seems be. There’s definite caramel and chocolate, and some breadiness as well.

This is medium bodied, slightly creamy, with a nice spicy finish.

This was unique but definitely still up my alley.

A lucid quad offering from Smisje. Scary drinkability: a lightly textured body and flirtatious carbonation keep the palate wanting more, never getting too sweet or syrupy. It almost has a little rugged malt backbone that keeps it from dipping off the palate in the long finish. One of the easiest drinking 12% abv ales I’ve ever drank.

Not a big nose – traces of fruit, caramel, malt. It pours dark caramel under a 1” light tan foam cap that dissipates fairly quick for a Belgian. The palate starts with a fruit cocktail composed of cherries, light apple and plum sweetened by light caramel malt and seasoned with light spice and herbs. It finishes with a light bitter accent. The beer is yeast driven but well composed. The beer is highly carbonated with a body just above medium.

It looks like a clear copper coloured brew with a small but persistent head of foam, usual good lacing from a Belgian beer.

The smell, well, it's very similar to an aged UK Old or Barley Wine. Lots of caramel malt more than hinting notes of Port. Aged Thomas Hardy or JR Lee's, anyone?

The taste just verifies what I said about the smell, to the letter.

Very nice mouthfeel with lightish carbonation to with the medium body

It drinks like a champion of an Old Ale/Barleywine. I have to get more.
