Found this place on beermenus.com and was surprised by the selection, so I went up to Harlem to check it out. Quick ride from Midtown, and the subway stops right across from Foodtown.
It looks a little shady-ghetto from the street but it is nicer than you think inside. Good produce and some quality stuff. The beer section is nothing more than two shelves, one with bombers and the other one with packs... but man, such quality stuff.
Weyerbacher Insanity, Oskar Blues Ten Fidy, Goose Bourbon County are among the 4-packs available, as well as out-of-state stuff like Siberian Night and beers from Central Waters the beer guy somehow gets in from the Midwest.
Lots of Evil Twin bombers, Mikkeller, some Fifty Fifty Eclipse, Midnight Sun Berserker... stuff you can't get anywhere else, they have here. They keep their menus updates online and are very nice, you can ask them to bring a specific beer. Prices are high but worth the splurge for such rarities.

Great selection, especially for the neighborhood, where mostly you will find Bodegas selling BMC and the odd Brooklyn, DFH, Leffe variety of craft beer. This place goes well beyond with a few stuffed shelving units up by the front of the store of bombers of a wide range of the good stuff. Dont expect rareties, but do count on bombers from places like Stone, lagunitas, Founders, Green Flash, Ommegang and the like. Yes I know these are found all over the city and the nation, but this is not the type of neighborhood where you would typically find these types of options. So this does bring up the possible issue of stuff not moving. On my visit, I did not notice any dusty bottles and the beer guy seemed enthusiastic and energized, which always helps. He's under the wing of Rico from the Foodtown Express in Yonkers (also well sorth a visit) so hopefully good things will continue at this Harlem outpost.. The above mentioned growler fills would be a huge upgrade...one gripe was the lack of ANY beer stored cold and I was thirsty when I visited!

This place has the best selection I've seen in upper Manhattan - not the largest, but the best. Lately I've found the Cascade Sours there, La Vermontoise, Westbrook Gose, BCBS, lots of Glazen Toren beers (including the elusive Lentebier), a couple of Fantomes, and a few from Maine Beer Co. They don't have a lot of room for six-packs - mostly bigger bottles - and they don't stock much in the way of good English beers, but what they do have makes up for any gaps. It's a few shelves in a crowded Harlem grocery store, with some boxes on the floor waiting to be unpacked. If Alberto's there, he knows a good bit about beer and is learning more; he works with Rico at the Yonkers store on figuring out what to order, and is always looking for suggestions. The prices seem about on par with other stores around town. If they start doing growler fills once the store is renovated (reportedly on the horizon), that'd be even better.
