355mL bottle as pictured with no freshness date but a cool label. Purchased from a supermarket in Miyazaki, Japan.

Appearance: Amber body with a soft cottony head, plenty of sticky lacing and fine bubbles. Don't really know what an All-American All-Malt All-Lager is and why it is different from a full-bodied microbrewed lager from any other country, but this looks damn appetising.

Smell: Vague barleymalt sweetness but no major hop aromas. Could be served in the wrong glass, don't think it's too cold... absolutely nothing adjuncty about it though, smells pretty kosher. Not getting many aromas at all actually, but some pleasant ones pop out when I sniff it while holding beer in my mouth.

Taste: Sweet, almost candied sugar type sweetness, with a satisfying hop bitterness and general grassiness. Full-bodied and malty but very refreshing at the same time. Exactly the sort of beer you'd want on a hot dry summer's day, if you were after a bit of flavour. Can't think of what beer it reminds me of but it's similar to one I've had before anyway. A little diacetyl too now that I think about it. Rich in flavours but thirst-quenching at the same time. Good stuff.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, buttery, and with a good aftertaste that holds the freshness on the palate and in the mouth. A very skilfully brewed beer.

Drinkability: Excellent. Refreshing but still interesting and not at all cloying. I really like this beer, I'd be keen to visit the brewery. Wish I'd tried it before.

Color borders between golden and copper. Light tan head.
Aroma of sweet pale malts with hops in the background.

Taste is controlled by the sweet pale malts. Smooth and clean with slight notes of butterscotch and nut. Hops are there to balance the beer, but stay in the background. Lacks the crisp hop bite I prefer pale lagers to have. Finishes well.

Good body and mouthfeel.
Good drinkability.

Overall, this is a solid lager and would serve you quite well if you prefer your pale lagers on the maltier side.

Big thanks to aemac52 for all the Hawaiin beers and 2 good homebrews he provided me!

Very much in the style of Sam Adams, copper in color, sweet maltiness up front with an assertive hop bite at the end, there was an odd sourness in the middle that didn't ruin the beer, it just caught my attention and I could have done without it, sipped a sixer over a few days on Maui, so I got pretty comfortable with this brew, there are better hot weather quenchers out there, lighter body is better in the tropics, but anywhere else this is a fine beer that I would enjoy again

Nice hazy copper color, with a fine head remaining on top of it. The smell is fruity: red fruits and apples, maybe grapes with liquorish notes. Nice red fruits in the taste too, definitely strawberries and grapes, with slightly winy notes. The level of carbonation is enjoyable. The hops, slightly citric, are more noticeable than one would expect in such a lager and give the beer a chewy aftertaste. More complex than I expected, with a good mouthfeel, this is a good lager.

Orange color and a little less than clear. A ring and haze of foam remain for the duration of the drinking. Smell is apple juice and grape juice...well, juice, Juicy Juice.

Taste is smooth lager, light body, light malts. Excellent aftertaste of bitter, flavorful hops that hits after-the-fact and fills the mouth. Chewy and mouth-filling. Makes you want to have another one.

A surprisingly good brew.

A nice Euro style lager that starts with a decent head and and a pretty gold colour. This brew is balanced well with a focus on decent hops. I much prefer this over Kona's Lager as it doesn't try to make a better Bud but rather has higher aspirations.
