White Ale brewed with spices.
Within the strangest existence, there is great depth of character. Such is indeed the case for the Albino MONKey. Ordained in the traditional order of Belgian wheat beers, Albino MONKey's wheat malt backbone is shrouded only by its sublimely complex sweetness. Its offerings of spicy hops, coriander, orange peel and white pepper spices need not be understood to be appreciated. Simply follow its divine path. Your obedience will be rewarded.

From the growler, it pours a clear golden color with a large white head that slowly dissipates as you enjoy it. In the nose, it is a bit spicy and malty. In the mouth, it is some spice with some malt. A touch of bitterness, not much at all.

A: Pours a lightly hazy golden honey in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and faint golden yellow + bright yellow + burnt orange colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall sudsy foamy off-white head that quickly reduces to a large patch of slightly mottled very thin film covering approximately 75% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Light to moderate aromas of pale + wheat malts with minimal amounts of sweetness as well as light aromas of citrus/orange peel and hints of spices (coriander + white pepper). Hints of spicy hop aromas are present as well.
T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of pale + wheat malts with minimal amounts of sweetness. That is followed by light flavors of citrus/orange peel and hints of spices (coriander + white pepper). Finally there are light flavors of spicy + earthy hops which contribute a very light amount of bitterness which fades away fairly quickly.
M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and enjoyable. I could have a couple of these and like the fact that the orange peel is not as subtle as in some other examples of the style.

A: The beer is hazy dark golden yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that quickly died down, leaving a narrow collar around the edge of the glass and some lacing on the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of orange peel are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell, having flavors of orange peel along with hints of wheat and coriander and other spices. The spices linger into the finish.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This witbier is very easy to drink and has a lot of orange peel, particularly in the smell.

Not too many comments on this one, but it's a great, smooth hefeweizen. Had it at their RVA taproom, would definitely order again (especially in hot weather).
