Massive thanks from olavzisper on the hookup with a few other strangeways brews.
Bottle 700/999

Shared w my bro in law. Beer pours a soft but murky orange and a thin bubbly head. Nose is all spice and orange peel. Really zesty, sage and white pepper. Pretty dry though. Taste matches the nose with the zest and orange peel. Easy drinker, but only had one other grisette before from HF and this isn't as good though quite good in its own right. Worth checking out if not even just to explore this style more. Very tasty. Very spicy and really lively pot pouri flavors.

Strangeways Brewing "Delightfully Immoral Grisette"
750 ml brown glass bottle, "Bottle 285 of 999"

Unfortunately this bottle seems to have suffered from one of two things: either it didn't fully re-ferment in the bottle, or it lost gas through an ill-fitting cap. It opened with a 'sigh' rather than a crack or hiss, and it's clearly under carbonated. Fortunately there's enough interesting character that it's not a complete wash (and I won't dock them score-wise as I can imagine what it would be like with a little more carbonic bite).

The aroma offers wheaty malt, herbs, yeast, baking apple, a bit of wet straw, grass, and some background metallic character while the flavor adds fruit (apricot, peach, pear, some red berry, mild citrus), floral notes, earthiness and some Brett-like character (leather, mustiness) as well as some yeasty pepper, mineral, chalkiness, and an oaky dryness. It's anchored by a solid bitterness, and in combination with the woody and herbal character it finishes dry with some quickly fading sharp fruit going to dusty mineral and spicy and leafy (I'm assuming from both oak and hops).

Pleasantly complex with depth of character - but not overdone. Interesting and enjoyable.
