When you name your beer after a mountain like Schiehallion (She-hal-ion) your beer better be breath-taking too. Ours has an elegant head, fresh crispness and a lingering grapefruit finish. All thanks to a lot of uphill work from our master brewers.

My first non-stout from this brewery, no can date
Pours a creamy frothy 1.5 finger pillowy head with fair lacing, good retention, semi hazy semi clear pale lemon yellow color

Nose doughy lager malt, fresh raw bread dough, cereal like kids sweet corn cereal, hint of a fruity note, especially fruity pebbles, light herbal floral hops, a citrusy rind character as well

Taste more doughy malt, raw bread dough, cereal grain, more corn puffs like cereal but with some sweet sugary note, big hops kick in quickly, spicy up front, a bit herbal earthy on the back, med bitterness, some fruity notes not sure if esters from warm fermented yeast or from hops, a citrusy pithy rind character late, semi dry fair crisp finish, with big spicy hop crisp bitter finish that gets quite spicy a bit too much

Mouth is med bod, soft lager, med small bubble carb

Overall not bad, decent lager, although the hops get a bit too aggressive

Appearance: Pours clear but lightly cloudy gold color. Velvety white head. Aroma has notes of grains, white bread, floral, lightly fruity hops.

Taste: white bread, grain, floral and fruity hop note. Sweet, some light estery notes. Grassy, moderately bitter finish. Feel is medium bodied, crisp, bright carbonation.

Solid lager.

16oz can from Boise Co-op. Dark golden with a thick, fluffy head. Musty, malty aroma. Taste is sweet and grainy, light bready notes, dries out towards the finish.

unexpected brew here, both to see it on tap in boise and for what it is, ive liked their other stuff but this is a change of pace, somewhat hazy, not all that light for its low abv, and it does not seem all that fresh to me, which is a shame. some citrus on the nose through the thick white head, a hint of weed too, but some oxidation and fade is also evident, not wet cardboard or anything, but its lacking brightness, i smell some english yeast too, which was to be expected, but everything is pretty tame here, nothing radical. it doesnt taste all that traditional to me for an old world brewer doing a classic style, its modern to me a little bit in the hops, even though it still has a leafy bitterness i was expecting, grapefruit and juniper notes make it hoppy for the style to me, almost more of a pale in this experience. the malt is tired, the lager yeast is bready, and my pour feels a little sedimented, all of which make this a bit more to consume than i was expecting, although not unpleasant. sometimes these things travel poorly, im sure this is better closer to the source, but it seems less vibrant, distinctive, and classically styles as i was anticipating, especially from these guys...

On tap:
Haze on the light amber (tan-like) makes it look a little dirty, but the nice lacing from the barely off-white head makes up fir that a tad.

Soft feel, but it seems just a tad heavier feeling than I expect from a lower-ABV lager. Flavors of malt come with a very light toast and a hint of honey, countered by an earthy, slightly tea-like bitterness. Mixed in between is a Edy brief unripe melon or orchard fruit interlude.

Nose took a while to come to me, but it’s a mix of dirt and honey bread, sort of a dumbed down version of the taste with a little extra earth thrown in.

Pours a slightly hazy rich yellow, 1.5" head with excellent lacing and retention from a cask pour. Nose is fruity (grapefruit, apricot) with floral hop undertones. Taste follows - light ruby red grapefruit, mild bitterness, all balanced by light malts. Mouthfeel is super soft from the cask with a long, lingering slightly bitter finish. An extremely sessionable beer.

L- Mid straw, clear, pours with 3mm white head, leaves bands of lacing down the glass.
S- Grainy and bready.
T- Bright, zesty, contemporary, lable refers to it as having a 'grapefruit finish', and after several seconds that note does emerge on the palate.
F- Feels like a summer beer to be enjoying on a hot day. Despite it currently being in 'Flaming June' it's unseasonably cold/rainy and this beer style seems rather out of place and light. It's somewhat zesty and 'bright'.
O- There's a time and place for this kind of beer and for me it would begin with a hot day. The grapefruit is quite subtle, very subtle after a few mouthfuls, yielding a contemporary'ish profile without being a statement blunt instrument. Long/short: Pitches more broadly than just hipsters and citrus-fans.
330 bottle BB: 28/07/2021. Bought from Nicolas Wines, London W11 £2.40 Contains barley + wheat.
