Side Project Saison Du Ble

Poured into a wine glass from a 750ml bottle.

Pours a nice golden straw color with a nice bright slight orange hue with a slight haze. There is a nice quarter inch white head that is pretty dense and recedes quickly down to a thin film.

Aroma is pretty nice. Notes of mild lemon tartness in the nose with some nice white grape vinous character as well. Notes of woody musty oak are present in the nose as well as some grainy and mildly sweet wheat notes. Fresh citrusy tartness and some slightly buttery vinous and funky wood notes.

Flavor is pretty awesome. Grainy and bready notes that are earthy and sweet start things off with a back note of mild lemony tartness. Tartness is milder than De Fermier and there is a pretty noticeable woody must to the brew along with some barnyard and husk notes. Great notes of mild vinegar are also present. Overall nice and dry as a saison should be. Sooo good.

A huge cloud of bright white foam capped a golden pear colored body that had a bit of cloudiness and intense brightness.

The nose is wine like and cidery with some woodsy oak. Wheat and pear aromas meld well together.

This is slightly sour and semi sweet with a perfect balance between both. Cider, lemon, pear and wheat act in harmony to deliver the most balanced Saison I've ever experienced.

The feel is intensely smooth and refreshing, with a bit of sour or bitterness.

I like a Saison but have not enjoyed one more than this. It's strong flavors are so well weaved that it sets itself far above others in the style.

A - hazy, sunset orange color. Moderate head.

S - soft lacto, funk, citrus, white wine (think more acidic like Soave, gruner, Sauvignon blanc, etc) slight herbal aroma. Very inviting.

T - amazing light citrus acidity balanced with a very slight funk. Seems like the Brett and lacto are pretty evenly balanced with neither overpowering. Very delicate flavor but insanely drinkable. Lots of white wine characteristics.

M - well attenuated but not overly so like some saisons. Nice lingering sweetness.

O - easily one of the better saisons I've had. Very clean acidity. Very good.
