Poured into my Surly goblet....

A - Pours hazy dark amber with a thin white head.
S - Coffee! Really smells like coffee. I don't really smell anything else.
T - Coffee and vanilla flavors with some sweetness on the tongue. This beer probably tastes more like coffee than other beer I've tasted.
M - Medium mouth feel, highly carbonated, flavor sticks around awhile.
O - I like this beer. Different than others I've had where coffee was the leading flavor.

poured 22oz bottle into snifter.

A - Mahogany brown with lighter brow highlights and a 2 finger sandy head. Excellent retention a gobs of lacing coat my glass.

S - Reminds me of a brown ale, but also has some resemblance to a porter. Pick up the toasted and nutty notes along with mellow coffee. I detect a bit of cola, which is what I find in porters.

T - Rich and malty with some lighter coffee that has some sweetened sugar and cream. Not quite as good as the nose would have suggested. Some nuttiness, tobacco, and a bit of cola.

M - Medium body, but pretty smooth and well executed carbonation.

O - It makes sense that this is their best beer and one that they will continue to brew. It sort of reminds me of Devil Over A Barrel, but without any bourbon notes.

22oz bottle poured into HF wine stem split 3 ways.

Appearance: translucent light to medium brown bodied beer. Large 3 fingers of white head that has decent staying power.

Smell: Tons of roasty and nutty malt aromas as soon as the cap comes off. This is a great smelling brown ale and its also got a nice smell of coffee creamer. Almost reminds me of hazelnut coffee.

Taste: Smells just like it tastes. Lots of brown ale nuttiness and coffee creamer. The nuttiness is very nutty and a hint of hazelnut notes are present.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation levels. Creamy carbonation. Very smooth drinking.

Overall: This beer really over exceeded my expectations. This is a fantastic brown ale. I am going to look forward to future beers that Mobcraft brews because they seem to think outside the box and execute their beer well. I am an instant fan!!!!

Dark brown coffee colored brew poured into a pilsner glass. Very thin lacing, no head to speak of. Light thin feel to the ale, Light carbonation to this brew. Almost like drinking a iced coffee. Definite coffee flavor comes thru along with a light creamy mouth feel. I felt the finish was dry and warm. My partner and I both appreciated this beer. A little outside the box, we liked that.

Appearance: Pours with a vibrant head of two fingers which settles to half a finger while drinking. Slight sticky lacing left with each drink. Dark amber brown in color with a good amount of active carbonation.

Smell: Lactose and malt sweetness greet the drinker. Then a bold wave of freshly ground coffee smashes through into the body and is highlighted by accents of chocolate, tobacco, and vanilla. Toasted nuts and malts are powdered on the back end with some cinnamon and sugar notes. Expansive and inviting.

Taste: Freshly ground coffee all over the nose. Milk chocolate and sweet dough roll in on the body and even out the front. Toffee and caramel compose the malt backbone. Earthy malts with lingering sweetness batters the palate. Dark coffee grounds linger on the finish.

Mouthfeel: Soft carbonation feeling pulls through a complete dessert style beer. Coffee additions are done very well, potent yet allowing others players to shine through.

Overall: Wow this is a tasty brew. A ton of complex levels on the nose and taste which each seemed to be the highlight at one point while drinking. Outstanding.

This just wasn't for me. The aromas and taste advertised couldn't emerge past the faint burnt taste.

As brown ales go, this is not one that justifies much further consumption. I don't think it's going to get many votes.

I could imagine a few tweaks might get this to a drinkable place, but it's not there yet.

650ml bottle. Poured into a snifter 10/24/2014.

A- Dark cola brown body. One finger offwhite head with good retention time. A bit of lacing, but not a ton. Looks pretty much like a brown ale. [3.5]

S- Rich toffee and caramel malt, touch of bitter black coffee. Hint of lactose sweetness. Some nuttiness. Smells good. [4]

F- Nutty, roast malt sweetness sets the background for bitter black coffee and lactose that acts like adding a cream to the coffee. The brown malt base adds a nice packet of sugar as well. So, black coffee with cream and sugar mixed in with nutty flavours and roast malts. Smooth, easy to drink and delivers exactly what is advertised. Not too sweet, nice balance between the coffee, cream and sugar type aspects of the beer. [4]

M- Medium bodied, soft and a bit lower in carbonation than expected. Finish is a slightly sweet lactose mixed in with mildly bitter black coffee, such that it's sort of a wash. Very easy to drink. [4]

O- Nicely balanced coffee +milk brown ale. All the major components of the beer are obvious here, and in good harmony with each other. Tastes great, easy to drink, good beer overall. In my opinion, this certainly rates better than it is getting right now. [4]

Pours a brown color with light tan head. Some roasted malt mainly on the nose; follows onto the palate. Not much coffee. Finishes bland.
