Poured from a blue wax topped bottle dated 2015. Opaque, bright orange-peach coloring, with a slow flow of carbonation bubbling in the body and a sparse surface coat of off-white head. Aromas of tropical fruit, heavy on the pineapple, mango, and melon, with some subtle chardonnay notes, tart grape must, and subtle funky notes. Flavors are extremely tart forward, with a heavy does of wine characteristics. Woody notes spice things up, and the tropical fruit blend is slightly overpowered by the tart grape notes. The body is light, crisp, and dry, with a tart and slightly sour aftertaste of white grape must and pineapple. Crisp, dry finish, with a tart linger. I don't get much from the pinot noir barrels past the woody notes. Tasty beer, nonetheless.

Thanks to Wil for this one! Blue wax, marked batch 2 on the label.
Murky reddish orange, compact layer of foam, spotty lacing around the edges.
Fruity and acidic aromas of white grape, melon, pineapple.
Taste is tart and savory, citric and vinous. Funky wet wood, oaky vanilla, cheese rind.
Medium bodied and vinous with lower carbonation.
Tastes and smells great, enjoyed this quite a bit.

Blue wax bottle. Light colored orange-yellow and cloudy in the body. Slight off-white head. Big melon flavor (honeydew), funk and oak. Flavor falls short from the nose, but the flavors are similar. Plenty of melon here, too. I like this version less than the dry-hopped.

Appearance: Pours a murky honey color with a modest head (after a minor volcanic eruption when I popped the cap); splashy lacing lingers

Smell: Barnyard funk, oak, and a berry-like vinous character; sliced apples and mulled spices

Taste: Both the Brett and the Pinot Noir barrel tones dominate the front end, with barnyard funk, oak and the vinous elements battling it out for position; in the middle, the apple slices and mulled spices come through, adding a bit of sweetness; the pineapple and passion fruit tones bring up the rear

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: There is a lot going on here and I want to like it more than I did; between the funk and the vinous tones, the sweetness and the tropical fruit, I just can't find my way home on this one

Bottled in 2015:
Pours a very cloudy yellow-orange. It is bottle conditioned, so I tried to avoid getting yeast into the glass, but maybe I failed. Head builds up soapy, and recedes to cover the surface relatively thickly.

Nose is citrus-tangerine, grapefruit; also some sweet art fruit-passion fruit, kiwi? The Brett funk is hidden by these, but peaks out at the end. They mention pineapple on the bottle, and I do start getting that later in the pour, as some of the more sour notes fade - warmth changing the profile perhaps.

Taste is a bit more muted than the nose, but along the same lines. Tart beginning - grapefruit/tangerine. Carbonation is moderate overall, but the tart-bubble combination pricks the tongue initially. The tartness fades slowly, bringing out some sour apple notes, and eventually a flat orange soda flavor. The end feel is a little dry, like wood or tannins are affecting it, but I get no wine or wood in the taste. Medium body, buoyed by nice carbonation.

I really enjoyed this beer, wish the taste had a bit more of the nose, but it was an interesting, nicely well rounded wild.
