Pours black from the bottle with a minimal head that disappears quickly. The first thing you smell is smoke and charred wood, maybe a touch of unsweetened cocoa. The smoke only increases on the tongue. The chocolate is slightly more pronounced with just a bit of dark fruit hiding in the background. Medium mouth and very, very dry. It reminds me of a campfire, but a decent representation of the style.

COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Irish stout beer, characterized by roasted flavor, dark chocolate and coffee with a velvet texture. Bira Malka is produced in small quantities using a traditional methods, natural ingredients and water from a well located in the Western Galilee area which contribute to its unique flavor.

Enjoyed at the hotel bar in Tel Aviv.

Big creamy darker colored mocha head that fades semi slowly decent lacing, just about pitch black beer.

Nose dark roast, very dark chocolate, bakers choc, coffee, caramel, mocha, cocoa, light chewy nougat.

Taste dark creamy malts, bitter earthy char like roast, coffee, dark roast and black malt, dark choc again and bakers, creamy cocoa, nice dark roasted coffee flavor. Char gets stronger too, with some spicy hops and fair bitterness. Bit of caramel and nougat too, hint of booze. Finish is fairly bitter with more spicy hops and dark coffee and char, little sticky sweet, some acrid roast.

Mouth is med to fuller bod, somewhat creamy and decent carb.

Overall quite impressed for a super dark beer in Israel. Despite the char and roasted black malts it was tasty and well balanced.

330ml bottle poured into tulip 9/9/13

A black liquid with a deep cola edge, large and loose mocha foam has good retention slowly falling to a thin film leaving a thick ring followed by random patches

S plum and raisins, faint smoke, coco powder, coffee, leafy hops, earthy notes and faint licorice, smells pretty good

T more of the same really, fruity with some dark roast, plums a little sour but not a bad thing,

M a little thin for the color, not quite creamy, almost foams up and flattens out, aftertaste is char and coco but its a little faint

O decent beer and considering I didn't have high expectations I'm rather pleased with what I ended up with, smells and tastes good and it went down with ease

It's not every day I find a country tic, better then I expected and priced well enough, another interesting addition to the shelves here in Alberta

Bootled 7/16/2013.

Pours a very dark chestnut brown color that appears black in the glass with a two finger mocha head that slowly settles into a thin, lasting ring. Decent retention with spotty lacing left behind. Much darker than expected, especially the frothy dark beige head. Impressive looking.

Slightly smokey dark malt aroma with a nice balance of roast and sweeter notes. Robust with burnt sugar, oatmeal, toast and espresso bean followed by sweeter, dessert-like coco, ate malt. Subtle earthy hop presence as well.

Medium body with a slight creamy texture but also a bit watery if that makes an sense. Mouthfeel kind of reminds me of nitro. Some dry, roasted bitterness up front but not acrid or unpleasant. Burnt dark malts with hints of bittersweet dark chocolate, oatmeal and coffee bean followed by subtle resinous hops, lactic cream and lighter malt notes, notably lighter chocolate and caramel sweetness. The mouthfeel is a bit off but this beer is well balanced with some nice flavors complimenting each other. This style can be boring but this was pretty complex. I hated the pale ale but this is a good beer from this newish brewery that has me interested in trying more of their offerings.
