Single Intent from a fresh growler filled at J.U.G.S. near the brewery.

A light-bodied, crisp blonde ale with a rather good head that leaves sparse lacing.

Aroma: complex; moderately strong: yeasty, spicy, herbal and hoppy aroma.

Flavor: at least as complex as the aroma, but with more banana and fruit, and more bready malts. There's a lot going on here, and the flavor changes quite a bit from start to finish. Good balance keeps any one component from dominating. The mildly bitter hops do come forward in the aftertaste.

O: At least partially succeeds in resembling a product of Belgium’s Trappist breweries, and fully succeeds as a light but aromatic and flavorful Belgian-style pale. Refreshing, interesting and recommended.

A - Pale golden and clear with trails of carbonation upward. Creamy white head sits on top

S - Light clove, straw and a light malt sweetness

T - Bubblegum up front from the Belgian yeast before there is straw, light clove and a slightly bittering hop that sits on the backed end. Simple and easy to drink

M - Full creamy body with a light zip from the carbonation. A very soft beer when it hits the mouth

O - A simple and easy to drink Belgian beer. It's not overly complex yet has a pleasant flavor. I could definitely see drinking this on a hot day

Three Taverns is a local brewery for me. I've had Single Intent on tap and in the bottle. It is one of my favorite session beers. It is very true to the style and getting it fresh helps. If you like the unique flavor profile of Belgium beers, you'll enjoy Single Intent.

What the crap? How could you cinder this belgian any thing?
Taste hoppy and not balanced, almost fusel alcohol flavor.... Like blended with nail polish remover. If this is the example it's not great and if this is off tasting from others experience where is the qc? Carved by keg obviously not very craft at all so dry and offensive in the first pull. Gets better as your taste buds die.

Really nice simple single. Not sure if I've ever had this type of beer before, and definitely my first from this brewery, but this went down very nicely.

Nice light mouthfeel and great fresh, spicy and sweet taste - kinda like a junior triple. Not really anything designed to blow anyone away, just very nice and tasty.

Poured into a glass. I am part of a local beer club and this beer was included since it matched the theme: beers from Georgia.

A- Looks good. Golden, clear color. Well carbonated with a 1/4 inch white creamy head.

S-hard to put my finger on, whatever it is there is a slight sweetness, maybe something like grapes

T-Did not care for the taste, maybe I just dont like the style but there isn't much positive things I can say about how this thing tastes.

M-medium bodied

O- will not drink it again.

One of the first two beers from Three Taverns, the highly anticipated new brewery in Decatur. They apparently are going to be making beers in the Belgian style, as their first two beers are a Belgian Single (what the monks brew for themselves- lower alcohol and essentially a Belgian Pale), and a Belgian style IPA. Both beers are a solid start indeed. This Single Intent pours a dark golden with a somewhat slight head, but nice carbonation. That could just be the growler diminishing the head, though. Nice yeasty banana notes in the nose with some light clove in the background. Quite pleasant. I really like the flavors here- not overbearing, but not too delicate either. More notes of yeasty banana, but more restrained and integrated into the other notes of the beer than it was on the nose. There is also a pleasant light waxiness (think of those candy wax lips and coke bottles), a slight earthy, herbal note, and most intriguingly, a creeping peppery note to the beer like some cracked peppercorns were added- maybe even pink peppercorns given the fruitiness of the beer. Maybe that's just me, but that's what I get out of it. Really an excellent effort, and particularly nice to see another lower alcohol option in the summer. Really looking forward to more from this brewery. Loved the Belgian IPA. Purchased from Taps Growlers in Decatur in growlette form.

Picked up a 4 pack at Green's. Pretty solid price, let's give this a whirl.

A: Light Golden body, small head that recedes with time. Lacing left after.

S: Banana, spice, and lots of herbal notes. Peppery?

T: Very floral in taste, I like a lot. Slight peppery alcohol on back end. Sweet banana doughy taste too.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied. Drinks great.

Overall: Solid offering from Three Taverns and especially great value. If this stays the same price, it could become a go-to brew. Well done

Pours an almost clear pale gold, producing 1.5 fingers of frothy, white, somewhat lasting head that leaves only a few streaks & motes lace. Aroma is pale malt, spice, herbal hops & Belgian yeast ester hints of apple/pear. Taste cracker/biscuit & wheat-like (strange because I don\'t believe this has any wheat) malt, Belgian yeast white fruit hints in a very peppery, dry finish that yields a slightly fruity, mildly bitter peppery aftertaste that rapidly fades. Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied, moderately carbonated, sandpaper prickly & dry.

Appearance: Pale yellow glass only holds the thinnest of covers with a thin halo. It's clear enough that I can read through it.

Smell: Took me a while, but a distinct grape juice smell. As it warmed some more beer aroma came out, a bit of grain, a hint of earthy hop.

Taste: An earthy hop goes almost metallic and a Belgian yeast that has a slightly tonic twang. Like a Trippel and a Pils had a love child. It's full of flavor, but it is a bit thin and finishes dry.

Mouthfeel: Light, as expected, a bit watery, almost painful sharp carbonation.

Overall: A nice table beer. The flavor is a bit overpowering for such a light body to hold it. Worth a try.

Thanks to Illudium for the sample!
